Disc golf is sort of like real golf, except you play with frisbee discs, and try to get them in baskets or hit poles, instead of into a hole in the ground. This course is located in the thick of the woods, with 27 holes divided into three 9-hole courses. At the end of each nine you end up at the start again, so you can pick and choose which ones you want to try. Over two days I did all 27 holes and it was super fun! The course is free and unsupervised, with a couple of picnic benches, a couple of outhouses (quite clean) and a tap for water. You have to bring your own discs, and some are for sale in a nearby general store. The trees are dense, and there is a lot of climbing around rocks and roots, especially if you fling your disc in an undesired location. Most times you can't see the basket, which adds to the fun. I did find the paths well maintained, and didn't have too much of a problem with my footing, even when it was raining. When traveling on the ferry over to the island I saw a few people with serious collections of discs, so I think this is quite the destination course. As a beginner, it was fun to spend time outdoors with friends, and for more experienced players there are lots of challenging holes.

It was quite full on a Saturday afternoon but we managed to get a spot. The other side has more parking lots as that's where more activities are - swimming pool, disc golf course, lacrosse box, and sports field. We were closer to Lost Lake, so we started our walk from there. I liked how there were trail markers along the way, with maps at major intersections so you could find your location. We did the interlaken trail from Lost Lake to Mundy Lake, followed by the lakeside loop around Mundy Lake. Then we did part of the Perimeter trail back to Lost Lake and out of the park. The map looks big and quite daunting to walk. But it is a pretty easy walk but mostly flat ground. I love the trees and fall foliage. I learn there is a big leaf maple tree and the leaves are huge. Bears live in the park and we didn't see any. We also didn't see any painted turtles, which live in Lost Lake area. There are lots of fungi and mushrooms growing on the tree trunks. The off leash dof trail is also nearer the Lost Lake entrance. Maybe that's why we saw more people with dogs parked there. This is my new favorite park to walk. The longest trail is the Perimeter trail at 4km round trip. The others are 1 km to 1.5 km.

Park visitors can enjoy a nice recreation experience here because it offers something fun for all ages -- nice trails, baseball diamond, dog off-leash, lacrosse box, newly renovated outdoor pool, kid's play area, off-road cycling and even a nine hole disc golf course, etc. Also, I appreciate this park because there is a CC Market Concessions, opened during the summer season, conveniently open from 10am to 6pm daily. I like hassle free picnic when one can buy foods like hot dogs, wraps, chips, ice cream and drinks at the park when hungry. Parks with food options is nice for folks like me who wants to stay in this park longer and didn't pack any picnic foods. Huge parking lot is available for free but parking spots could be challenging on weekends and busy event days so do budget time accordingly for parking.

It's located on a hillside…read morethat slopes down from near Edmonds Street to the Trans Canada Highway, and you'll definitely get a workout hiking up and down the forested trails throughout the park. There's a big off-leash dog park, too, where you can hike with your dog. This is a big attraction for us, as it's not much fun to just go to one of those dog parks that's just a glorified pen. Besides, my guy is the type that needs to run up a hillside to even make a dent in his energy levels; plus he has plenty of olfactory stimulation. I've never played the game, but the disc golf course looks pretty fun. Apparently, it's Burnaby's only disc golf course, and it will also take players up a steep hill in order to play. An outdoor pool and baseball diamonds round out the offerings in this large but diverse park. I've heard whispers that one day, they may put in a footbridge over Highway 1 to link Robert Burnaby Park with the Burnaby Lake trails. Now that would make for a cool park to spend the day.

That being said it is also beginner friendly. Some of the holes are an extremely long distance, but it is very hard to lose your disk here. The placement of the basket on some of the holes is just ridiculous, generally buried in a wall of trees. Only thing to really watch out for is hitting cars parked along the side of the road. They got in the way of your disk though right? Oh and it is a dog friendly park (and there is always a lot of them there) so just keep that in mind if you don't like dogs or have a critter of your own to bring.

I usually only play this course when I have tickets to a Vancouver Canadians game or if we go out and play a pitch and putt (which is also a pretty lame course). If you really want to play frisbee golf and are near Queen E I suggest just going to Quilchena Park.

Trying to get my camera out in time while still in my car, I got one blurry picture before it scurried off. Grabbing my bag and getting out of my car, I noticed something new to me, a black squirrel. It was on the ground foraging. I took a few pictures and a video and then said hello out loud. It came to attention and started making its way towards me. Eventually, it came to sit on a curb by my car and looked at me, letting me take an up-close picture. After the click it continued on. Exploring the park on foot, I found walkers, runners, foraging gray squirrels, and foraging black squirrels. Walking paths through the trees were gravel and relatively flat near the parking area. Gray squirrels towards the entrance of the park were shelling felled chestnuts and carrying them away. A black squirrel or two ran past with a peanut, not sure from where. Sunlight broke through the canopy of the trees, lighting up the leaves and spots of ground.

There are several different entrances into the park from all surrounding streets. The trails connect all the entrances, but the roads do not connect though. Cornwall park has pickleball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, frisbee golf, a wading fountain, fields to play in, trails to run on AND MORE! Every time I walk my dogs here, I find new trails and features I haven't seen before. It is well maintained and has a ton of parking within the park so you don't have to walk far. I would recommend pulling up a map if you are looking to get to a specific part of the park for the first time!

Level is intermediate to hard…read more 18 baskets. There is a variety of lengths, level changes, obstacles. Some of the longest sections are over 400ft. During the spring be sure to wear shoes for the mud. They do a good job at laying down woodchips and making pathways, but if you throw out of line you may be walking into mud to get your disc. There are benches at some of the sections. There are signs at the beginning of each section to give you an idea of length and direction of the basket, and underneath the basket there are arrows that point in the direction to get to the next section. About a 1-2.5 hr course depending on group size.

The paths in Queen Elizabeth during the summer are lined with perfectly maintained flowers. I love wandering through them to "stop and smell the roses". The views are some of the best in Vancouver I've seen where you can also enjoy eating at Seasons in the Park restaurant. It's the perfect stop after a walk around the park or a visit to Bloedel. The times that I have visited, Queen Elizabeth Park surprisingly rarely felt crowded; except for cherry blossom season. The cherry blossoms make you feel like you are almost visiting Japan. Queen Elizabeth Park is full of life, beauty, and peaceful corners to wander around and get lost in.
