A late December round that costs $117. $79 for the golf and $38 for a one seat power cart which is…read morea first in my local experience. Since power carts are often used by those of us with a handicap, I fail to see how this pricing policy is welcoming or encouraging to a physically challenged group of people. Next, what were 2 regular handicap parking stalls have new signage saying these spots are now for a maximum of 2 hours which I assume means they are intended for restaurant customers and certainly not for golfers taking the usual 4+ hours to complete 18 holes. The result? Folks like me who finding walking painful, in particular on hard surfaces, have no preferred parking and have to walk from wherever we can find a spot unless we are apparently the preferred restaurant customer. Both of the above issues lead me to avoid this golf course in the future. In conclusion, I find it abhorrent that in this day and age, a golf course would institute policies that actually discourage particular groups of people from enjoying the game of golf.

Best golf club in town when all factors considered. The course, while relatively flat and somewhat…read moreshort by modern standards, is immaculately maintained and conditioned to the extent, that some have compared it to Augusta. The greens are known as the best on Vancouver Island, if not BC and perhaps Canada. Indeed, many on the PGA Canada tour have said so. The design is old classic with lots of big trees, not a huge amount of water, but ample bunkering. This track is all about hitting your shots to proper locations and putting well. It will punish those who spray the ball. The club is perfectly located as well in beautiful Oak Bay basically 10 to 15 minutes drive from anywhere in Greater Victoria, or 10 minute walk for some of us lucky members. A true slice of heaven in the middle of town. The pro shop staff and grounds crew are beyond compare. True professionals who are always friendly, courteous and a joy to be around. Stoner, Clewsie, Griffballs, Haney, Danny, Filthyminge and The King, aka Mr. Yuell, are true Princes. The membership at this club is also fantastic. Great group of welcoming and friendly people from various professions and various ages enjoying a fantastic golf experience. Food is generally good at the course, though service can sometimes be spotty. Ashley, Carling, Pedro and Jerry are outstanding! Some of the others, hit and miss ... Uplands Works burger is likely the best burger I've ever had! Beyond compare. Chicken wings are usually good as is the prime rib. Breakfasts are excellent as well. There are many options to choose from on the menu and the facility is excellent. Awesome deck for summer post round cocktails and eats. Glad to be a member at this truly heavenly urban oasis! Keep up the good work Uplands GC!

Lots of free…read moreparking, but the parking lot seems to usually be at 3/4 full. ---LUNCH--- Lunch was great, our server was very personable, sharing with us stories of her son's wedding while keeping our cups topped up with water. The food was also good. I particularly enjoyed the full monty burger. The daily special roasted lamb sandwich I didn't feel provided very good value since the sandwich was pretty small (though at $12 for the sandwich and a manhattan clam chowder, I guess that wasn't very expensive to begin with). The sweet potato fries with chipotle dip were great, they gave us an extra side for the table too. Pricing wise, it was cheaper than I expected at a golf club. Certainly, it's not Floyd's Diner level of value, but the menu is competitively priced and the food is good. ---WEDDING--- The outdoor area allocated for the ceremony was fantastic, under the shade of a couple large trees. It's not a purpose-built venue, meaning there aren't steps in the hill or a designated space for an aisle, but that lends a lot to the charm of the venue. The manager, Greg, was very helpful to a never ending barrage of wedding-related requests. Projector setup unfortunately didn't come with a HDMI to Displayport adapter needed for Macbooks. The buffet spread was very good. The salmon and chicken were very tender, much to my surprise. I had expected mass-produced meats to come out dry and tough as at most weddings. Unfortunately, they stopped replenishing the oysters partway through the night. 10/10 I would have my wedding here (if it wasn't so far...).

It was $8 for 80 balls and it is machine operated. I felt out of sorts with the professionalism of it, but then I realised that most ranges are similar and first time experiences are usually different. I did not particularly like how it was full, but it was great to be able to hit my driver and woods. It was also completely shaded and the view of the trees and Mount Doug in the background is nice. Second time around will likely result in a different rating.
