Thank goodness for great reception on our cruise ship! The shore excursions didn't seem appealing…read moreto me for Victoria & I can't believe I went rogue and had NOTHING planned ahead of time for our port day here. I just knew- I wanted to get of the ship and explore the town and some local businesses. With my handy dandy device, thanks to Google Maps, I find it nifty that businesses have their names popped up on maps. The name in itself got my attention. Once I clicked on the business and scrolled thru pictures- I was SOLD!! I didn't even look at prices! I knew Haunted Manor opened at 11am and we were gonna get there before they opened up. Once you step in- we were greeted and informed lockers are available, no charge. We just did some light shopping at Bulk Barrel and utilized this free perk to stash our stuff. If you decide to purchase drinks- they'll need to be consumed in the immediate front room, at the seating area. Each room is meticulously decorated! The upbeat music gets your game face in motion. We decided not to keep score and just roll with it. I had my medical boot on- so, it was great to see the holes that you're actually using your putter, are well lit along the green. The rooms are mainly dimmed- to add to the spooky aesthetic. You just need to be a bit cautious when stepping onto the green, because there's a bit of a raised border. Some of the holes aren't your typical putt putt. And that's another elevated experience that bumps up the notch for Haunted Manor. Not sure if Canada has the tv show, Survivor or The Price is Right. Because some of these holes, you use your hands to to operate the ball. You'll see when you get there! Each hole has quirky instructions on how to play. Get as many photos and videos inside! I wish San Diego had something as cool as this! It really has Haunted Mansion vibes from Disneyland. When I checked my bank statement- it was $35, I believe in American dollars for two people.

Several holes were dexterity challenges instead of golf. They were some of our favorites! Some rooms had several tasks where the signs say to split up to keep from bottlenecking. Take that advice. It also help you keep the game moving to minimize you own downtime. Note: the lobby has free lockers to store belongings while you play.

The food was also good. I particularly enjoyed the full monty burger. The daily special roasted lamb sandwich I didn't feel provided very good value since the sandwich was pretty small (though at $12 for the sandwich and a manhattan clam chowder, I guess that wasn't very expensive to begin with). The sweet potato fries with chipotle dip were great, they gave us an extra side for the table too. Pricing wise, it was cheaper than I expected at a golf club. Certainly, it's not Floyd's Diner level of value, but the menu is competitively priced and the food is good. ---WEDDING--- The outdoor area allocated for the ceremony was fantastic, under the shade of a couple large trees. It's not a purpose-built venue, meaning there aren't steps in the hill or a designated space for an aisle, but that lends a lot to the charm of the venue. The manager, Greg, was very helpful to a never ending barrage of wedding-related requests. Projector setup unfortunately didn't come with a HDMI to Displayport adapter needed for Macbooks. The buffet spread was very good. The salmon and chicken were very tender, much to my surprise. I had expected mass-produced meats to come out dry and tough as at most weddings. Unfortunately, they stopped replenishing the oysters partway through the night. 10/10 I would have my wedding here (if it wasn't so far...).

Came out to play on a Saturday and I have to say it is a pretty nice course (at least the 11 holes…read morewe played). Got through front 9 in about 2.5 hours but really started to slow on last couple holes. We made the turn and it turned excruciatingly slow as it took us 45 minutes to play just 2 holes (10 & 11). Had we stayed, it likely would have been well over 3 hours to finish the back 9. There was a tournament in front of us and we saw the marshall at least 3 times but there was absolutely no impact on the pace of play. It was a complete waste of $93!!! Played Sunland the day before ($69 for 18 holes and cart) and much better experience. Not as nice of a course as Dungeness but at least pace of play was manageable and was still a pretty nice course. We had a drink and snack in the bar (I think it was called Stymies) and we enjoyed ourselves. The appetizers were very good (wings and steamers) and my only advice is get extra bread with steamers as the clam broth was very, very good. Cold beer, good drinks and good view of both UofW football game and Ryder Cup golf. Stymies would actually get a much higher rating from our group but since this is a review of Dungeness GC and Stymies, the golf experience really dragged it down. Regretted paying so much and only playing 11 holes but the pace was absolutely one of the worst I've ever experienced.

They used crappy fries with lukewarm sausage country gravy (yes sausage gravy) and about 1 tbsp of cold crab. Gross. Also had the crab grilled cheese. One slice of crappy cheese not even melted a little like they did not even pretend to try to grill it. I have no idea why they are serving food like this And I think it is really rude to charge people 20 dollars per item and give them this garbage. People work hard for their money and I'm down to spend it on good food but not on this. Not only will I never go back to the crab festival but I will also never go eat at the the restaurant at the golf course which I have been wanting to try. Now I know they have terrible food and won't bother!
