Dick's sporting goods got my money and will continue to get my money because of LANCE. Had the perception, I should support a small business owner. So despite the negative reviews I went to ParWest Golf FIRST (w/$1500. to spend). There were three employees in the building. We knew this because we became the only patrons in the shop. We spoke loud enough for them to her us, we asked to hit a few balls, we asked questions about what was available - we gave them so many opportunities to ignite and build a sale but instead, we walked in and found the front counter employee on their phone, then they were fixed on some game on tv. Even after we tried a club out they didn't even try to engage us. We left and went to Galaxy Golf with the perception of it being corporate. HUGELY mistaken. Lance gave us some time on the floor. Gently approached. Answered our questions and then got us on the range to test out our potential clubs. Lance gave me some education tips. Gave me space to think and I bought the full set and met the trainer for lessons. lance also recommended Stone Creek in Oregon City, OR to practice and take my dad. Literal high five to Golf Galaxy. Walked in around 4:00 pm on a Monday. Store was not busy and had 1-2 other customers. I stood by the clubs trying to get assistance to buy a full set of some high end clubs and no one came to assist me for 15-20 min. The drivers were all zip tied in and I hovered in that area for a solid amount of time. No greeting, no check in, no "thank you for checking in". Heading to another store and not coming back. 3-4 employees were conversing by the cashier area where no customers were. This is my 2nd attempt coming in within the last few months and same experience. I really tried, but am writing this review to share my experience and to warn other shoppers to go to a different spot. Huge let down and most likely won't return nor advise anyone to go to this store in person. read more

Walking through Golf Galaxy, one can easily see why golf is a wealthy person's sport! Darn. Yes, you can buy hats, clothes and some accessories at a reasonable price, but the cost of a good driver, clubs, and bag takes some serious cash. A friend recently took up the game and I wanted to buy her a golfrelated gift for Christmas. I wandered around the store for quite sometime, but nothing really caught my eye. None of the staff approached me or offered assistance , which I could have used. The women's outfits were nice - skorts, skirts, shorts, tops, pants - but i wasn't sure of the fit. With some of the accessories, I wasn't really sure if the purpose. Ended up leaving with nothing and at a different store, bought two small, pink bags so she could put her personal items in them and put in her golf bag. Golf Galaxy club service is top notch thanks to Andrew. He helped me pick a new grip that just released - the super-stroke lamkin. He was able to install them on the spot so I could test them that afternoon. He was right, the grips were great! So I regripped the whole set. I know jack about golf BUT I know customer service. I needed to grab some specialty golf balls for a client and they were the only people who carry them apparently. Everyone was so friendly and made it super easy to get in and get out. It was hard to not be distracted with all the cute golf outfits. I do have to say that the parking lot is a mess. They are on the end but still have a lot of people racing through as there are many very popular stores right there so just be careful. read more

My review is strictly about Bryan who does golf fittings. Wanting to improve my game, I signed up for a golf fitting last minute. Bryan met me and walked through some questions and practice swings. He provided some great pointers but the biggest thing for me was he recognized that at this point in my game, a golf fitting wasn't worthwhile. He walked me through where I am with my clubs and how certain alterations could help, but on what to focus on first. He told me he wouldn't feel right charging me the full price and gave me some really feedback to work on with my coach. I'm looking forward to coming back when the time is right and I really have a lot of trust in Bryan's guidance/feedback. read more

We went in to purchase a new set of clubs for my wife based on the 15% disc promo that is offered when you sign up for Text Message Advertising ... we had looked online at a set she liked and called to see if it was part of the promo discount...associate that answered the phone said they 'thought it was' and when we were on the 'floor' getting ready to purchase the clubs a 2nd associate said they "they would 'like to say' that the clubs were pert of the promo/discount"...well ... when we went to check out - the clubs were not part of the promo based on the 'brand' and what they allow to have applied to their products... we got the clubs anyway and on the way out we discussed the situation with Dave...bottom line - he made it right for us...and now they have customers 'for life'...my wife is retiring in June and golf will be a big part of our time together... also - all the associates were very helpful and professional and they were dealing with the info they had 'at hand'...we both felt like this store is where we will return / take some beginner lessons and purchase equipment as we continue to play... excellent customer service and recognition of how to be aware of the opportunity to 'make' a customer vs. 'lose' one thx again Dave for your assisstance read more

All things golf! Now, my wife and i came here to look into repairing her precious Cobra driver that a certain airlines' baggage handlers managed to snap in two. We saw on the website that they did repairs - walking in, we just followed our noses to the back and their was a nice little service dept with two staff working. They took a look at her club, recommended a comparable replacement shaft, wrote it up, and they said be ready in 3 days. Awesome! I'd been worrying that we were going to have to go thru some difficult expensive alternatives - the part, grip and repair totaled less than $50! Definitely coming back when I need to purchase more gear. They had a putting green, indoor driving range, club fitting, and tons of gear - equipment, apparel etc. I've never been able to afford 'new' clubs, and likely wont in the future, but prices seemed in line with other places I've visited. I just picked up my re-gripped Titleist woods & driver from the Cascade Station store, the location where I bought them last year. I asked to try them out on the range and after about 10 swings was given the bum's rush by the manager. He said if I wanted to rent range time then I could stay longer. The store was fairly empty at the time. His attitude was cold and uninviting, even after I told him that I'd just collected my clubs. I'm not the biggest customer but GG's records show I've spent close to $3,000 in the last 2 years. I have purchased the vast majority of my golf gear from this store over the years but am reluctant to ever go in there again. Too bad because one of my previous customer service experiences was great and, I left a review to that effect. Remember, if you alienate your customers, then you kill your sales. No sales, no Golf Galaxy. I think you can do better. read more

I went it with questions about a new driver and Patrick took the time to answer all my questions, make suggestions and offer a few different options for me based on my age, swing etc. Truly a great customer experience. I was disappointed in that this golf specific store didn't ever approach us and we needed help on picking the woods my husband needed. Very helpful here to replace the club head on my Cobra Driver! It was a long process because parts had to be shipped back, but they were a huge help. Cameron and the team kept me updated with phone calls and worked with me to make sure my driver was fixed in a timely manner. I was even able to rent a used Nike Driver that they had and I ended up keeping it because it was so nice. Props to the whole team at Golf Galaxy for the help during this whole process! I really don't know why the customer service I received was so bad. Maybe because I was only spending $150 on a set of beginner clubs for my sons. Maybe because the assistant manager who "helped" us had better things to do than let my kids take a few practice swings with these clubs and hit balls into the net. I just don't know. Been here twice. Bought some shoes, hat, couple of puma shirts. Good choices. Went in here today, I wanted to get fitted for 2 new irons. Gap and a sand. Waited, waited by golf clubs by the swing stations. I went over to the demos clubs. 35 minutes passed and not a single hello. Can I help? Please we will be right there. Came in ignored, left ignored. Bought a new set of irons at fiddler's a couple of months ago, because we got ignored at Red Tail. I was unsure at time Bout which wedges, another trip to fiddler's. I asked for help picking out grips and they refused to help. They told me to find something that felt good to me and didn't want to answer questions that I had to help me find a good fit. Never get fitted here. I have had many experiences here, I'll share quickly. 1. I brought a new wedge in to get bent 1* upright. Hit it terrible all year and finally got it checked. They somehow took 3* of loft off 2. I asked every associate to check the lie on a club and 20 minutes later, nobody would help me. 3. I cracked the face of a new driver. It was a known issue that others had had with the product. I brought it in and the manager tried to tell me it wasn't cracked. Basically, he was calling me an idiot. These guys don't know what they are doing. They don't care about customer service. Now, I have to go get all of my clubs checked that they have bent. Never going back, go to red tail UPDATE: I broug 5 more clubs in and all but one was extremely off. One was off by 4*. These guys have no idea what they are doing. read more

Had a great experience yesterday at this store. Jeff, the salesman and former photographer for the LPGA, spent lots of time guiding me in the right direction around the purchase of a hybrid. Very personable fellow with some great stories to tell. We finally narrowed it down to an expensive new model and a very reasonable used one. Absolutely no pressure to get me to buy the new one. I went for the used club and walked out a very satisfied customer. I will gladly return to this store for future golf needs, and advise others to do so as well. read more

If you're in the Portland area and looking for a golf shop with associates that are friendly and will take the time to find you the right equipment, this is not it. The guy that attempted to help me seemed primarily interested in talking about how great his game is and how he plays blades but those aren't for me (not that it matters and not that he ever asked, but I'm a 7 handicap and get around the course pretty well.) Generally there's a sense of entitlement amongst employees, and I'm not sure where that comes from. You're working at Golf Galaxy. Be friendly, be courteous, listen more and take an authentic interest in trying to help your customers. If you're looking for an alternative shop option, I'd highly recommend Parwest Golf on Halsey. Last two times I have been there, the staff has been super friendly and helpful, and the guys absolutely know what they're talking about. They don't have the same huge selection of options in the shop but can easily order anything you might need. And it's a locally owned business. read more

Club pro at this location is literally the worst sales person I have ever met. Much more interested in bragging about his game and his accomplishments than helping you find your fit. I went in there excited to buy a new set of clubs, I have a14 handicap(Pro has a 2...ask me how I know) and I left feeling dismissed and deflated. I asked him what the best value was for a new set of irons with my handicap and the response was that what I needed for "my game" was probably more than I wanted to spend and would not even show me a single set of clubs. read more

I've come in recently a few times since they have changed over. For the most part, I have been pretty impressed. Their clothing selection is better, and the new guys they have added have been helpful. Until tonight. Here's the deal. If someone brings a club in, and specifically asks for something out of the normal, a good assumption would be, HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTS. I've had it this way forever, I know it doesn't really change the club, but at this point, it's mental. Which is fairly important for a single digit guy. Just Do it! It's not like I'm not paying you to do it. At first, I was just pissed, and walked away, then thinking about it, I didn't trust that he would do what I asked him to, so I jut took my club back and walk away. As Golfsmith they were great! They kept most of the old GS staff. That is the only good I have. There has Been a new guy there the last three times in... He is not knowledgeable and the regular guys and gals working seem uptight like they are walking on egg shells. Me being me I engaged the man tried to start a friendly golf shop banter. I had chosen my new bag for the year and was simply wandering around.. He asked me point blank if I was buying that bag or just in the shop to look? I first thought he was being sarcastic. I said excuse me? He said... If you are not buying that bag please put it back". I again laughed and said okay. He reiterated. Golfsmith is no longer here and we want to keep everything organized. I then said "youre serious.... OH MY GOD". I set the bag down in the putter display and walked out. One of the old guard said" you changed your mind"? I replied NOPE DICK's golf division did. I have spent literally thousands with Golfsmith. Gold Galaxy / Dick's will never get another dollar from me. RedTail in BVTN and Smiittys will have to fill that void. I'm always blown away by poor customer service at any retailer when it costs absolutely nothing for a business to implement. The teenagers/twenty-somethings working the floor were not only unhelpful, but just downright rude. I used to get golf supplies here when it was Golfsmith, but now there's no reason for me to get anything substantial here...maybe tees when I run out and don't want to get them overnighted from an online retailer. "Excuse me, do you still carry the Oversize Winn Dri-Tacs?" = puzzled look by the guy behind the counter followed by "Did you look where the Winn grips are?" (in my head: no you @&$*% genius, I looked in the Golf Pride section and didn't see them so I thought I'd ask you. OF COURSE I %#*@& LOOKED IN THE WINN SECTION!!!). That was enough to make me walk out empty-handed from the store, they're just not giving me any reason to spend money there . I have bought numerous clubs, both in-store and from their website for delivery to the store. The service has always been good. Their pricing is always competitive. I recently had to return a wedge due to unexplained finish deterioration. It normally would have required the store to send it back to Titleist for repair or replacement. With the golf companies being shut down to the corona virus, that was a 'no win' situation for me. The store manager took the wedge back and gave me a new replacement on exchange. I think some of the prior comments reflect different staff/management - the current team has always been attentive to my needs. read more

To be completely honest with everyone reading I will never be going back and the worst experience I've ever had at golf galaxy. I broke my driver head I bought a year prior and the bottom plate broke off in the middle of my tournament round so I went to the golf galaxy later that day to see if I could get a new driver head. I asked one of the sales rep to turn on the track man to so I can see some numbers before I buy it but no matter what I said they can't turn the screen on for a couple minutes to make $550. read more

Went to get a 5 wood cut down 2 inches n new grip. They could not do it same day They said that they could regrip up to 3 clubs same day but not cut down 1 club. I said that it would literally take 1 min to cut a graphite shaft n it would take less time than regripping 3 clubs. They said that it was their policy. When I spoke to the manager , she said that it is up to the guy in the shop. She had no say regarding her employees. Why have a manager then. I drove 49 min each way but they didn't care. No sympathy. I would not shop there anymore as I bought a lot of clubs there recently. read more

Pretty good location. The staff is always really friendly and helpful. I wish they had a slightly bigger women's department or a better variety but other than that this is my go to place for golf clothes, shoes, and equipment. The store is always very tidy and organized which makes shopping much easier. The dressing rooms are always kept empty and clean as well. read more

Went in for a putter for my 9-year old. Associate spent an hour with us while my son hit putts and narrowed it down to his favorite. Then within 15-minutes they cut it down to his size, were able to salvage the stock grip that my son loved, and we were off. Next day first time he played with it he shot his personal best for nine holes! Ken was in the shop and did an amazing job. read more

Costumer service was nonexistent. I should have known better than to expect a lot from a big box store for golf. I agree with the other reviewers that upper management seems to have lost their way. I would encourage everyone to shop at up your local privately owned golf shop. read more
