Purchased 6-PW G410 irons and three Ping G410 hybrids, 19,22,26. Spent a solid amount of $$$ on the Ping clubs via the custom fitting offered by Golftec/Tim B. Trusted that they knew what they were doing. Had a few challenges playing the clubs with a current six handicap. Worked with a MPLS pro who recognized that all of the newly purchased Ping clubs were shortened from standard length with the custom fitting. Used TRACKMAN session to confirm issue (purchased the Callaway Epic Flash driver and three separately and couldn't be more pleased with performance). Asked Golftec about this and they confirmed the conclusion of shortening the clubs. Subsequent action post my Golftec fitting? I had the three Ping hybrids reshafted to "standard length" at Club Champion and purchased Callaway Epic irons with "standard length" to replace my custom fitted set from Golftec. Far better performance as I'm no longer disadvantaged using shortened clubs. Spent lots of $$$ with Golftec to buy custom fitted clubs. Very disappointed with Golftec and Tim B. Objective data via TRACKMAN and playing results verify that I was grossly misfit by Golftec. Be cautious with Golftec given my less than positive experience.

I golf about once or twice a month and was just looking for some help to hit the ball more consistently. Todd was very professional - didn't laugh at my poor swing, and left me with some helpful tips to take home with me. The advice helped and made golfing more fun. The Madison shop was worth the 2hr drive. Thanks Todd!

The range is hitting off mats (like many places) and is decent value at $6/11/15 for small/medium/large baskets. They also a rangecard special where you can get $100 value for $80. The practice putting green is usually in good shape and is a good decently large area to practice your short game. As far as the course, I've only played the Billy Goat Par 3, and found it to be fun for beginners, with a range of distances from 90 to 180 yards. The greens and bunkers are maintained pretty well, given the harsh weather conditions in southern Wisconsin recently.

I was a bit concerned about playing on Labor Day getting behind holiday golfers, but that doesn't seem to be the case at this course. Our foursome played in four hours and 15 minutes. The quality of golfer there seems to be at the very least above average players. I think the layout of the course is fantastic, challenging and the course condition is very well kept. There are plenty of tee boxes and I would suggest you play from the yardage that is within your abilities. Get your sand game in order because even the better golfers may find a couple of traps. It was good to see Rangers patrolling the course and making sure their presence was known when they drove by They always said hello. If I lived in the area, this course would be near or at the top of my list.

It was an interesting process for him to get a tee time - members rule the roost at Hawk's, so you take what you can get. Thankfully, they found us a great tee time on a Friday morning - perfect. The course is fantastic. Granted, there are challenges to playing a course for the first time. You don't know where those hidden "gotchas" are. Like - hole #1. It looks like a nice, wide fairway. My drive rode down the left side of the fairway and looked to be in great shape. When you drive up, you realize at the edge of the fairway, it drops off and feeds into some wild grass. I went from "yay" to "boo" in seconds. While I was able to find my ball and hit onto the green from there, I think I could have done better off the tee knowing what was up ahead. But I digress... The entire course has character. Many courses have a few signature holes that everyone remembers while we forget the 14 other drab "straight and boring" holes. But not this course. There is character galore here! I'm not a big fan of courses that have houses along the fairways, but it's not a big problem here. They're only in range if have a terrible hook or slice. While I can slice with the best of them (and did a couple times), I only ended up in one yard (and barely). Some of the houses are pretty impressive and add to the experience. If you insist on a woodsy, all-nature golfing experience, this isn't your course. We didn't have any problems with friendliness - not from other golfers (members) or the staff. Everyone was quite nice and the smiles were out everywhere. I can't afford to golf here often, but if I could, I'd love to.

The bunkers and Tees boxes could use some loving care but the fairways and greens are very very nice. Depending on the precipitation, the roughs encourage a player to stay in the fairways as they can wreak havoc on your second shots. Played in late October and the down leaves did not cause any issues in the way of finding balls throughout the course. I will definitely return as it is easy to get to from the Madison area. The vibe is trendy and fresh. It was busy when we first arrived, so we waited a little to use the bays, but we just ponied up to the bar and enjoyed a beverage while catching up with old friends. Once our bay opened up, we headed over and started warming up. The bartenders were very friendly, and they checked on us often. We hadn't had dinner, so we ordered the giant pretzel and the ultimate nachos. Both were delicious! The pretzel was very good - it came with beer cheese and mustard that had a slight cinnamon taste to it that made it really tasty. We enjoyed a few moscow mules with our appetizers. Long green couches line the ends of the hitting bays, as well as a coffee table and some high top tables and chairs. There is plenty of room for your party, and the only complaint I have is that it would be nice if there were bag stands - I felt like all of our golf bags were in the way a bit. Otherwise it's very spacious and open! When you step up to hit the ball, there are easy to use buttons that mechanically put the ball on the tee for you. You can then knock it down if you want to hit off the mat and/or putt. I like that there are also buttons if you want to move the tee up and down, and you can use the computer screen to aim when putting to take into account any break. It really is simple to use and very fun! Next time I will probably check out the Middleton location instead, as it's closer to me, but overall this is in a great area and I highly recommend it!

What a great addition to Madison - the first and only top golf in Wisconsin! I'm happily surprised…read morethat Madison was chosen and decided to take advantage of the opening weekend! Pro tip - make your reservation online as it guarantees the best price! From what I can tell prices change based upon time of day and number of bays used. We took advantage of the Sunday deal that has bay rentals for $20 between 9-11am. It almost doubles in price later in the afternoon and goes down again in the evening. Each bay can hold about 6 people and they provide you with clubs to use and mobile ordering! Check in was super easy as they sent us forms ahead of time and ever individual needs an account. You walk in and the front desk person gives you a bay to go up to. Time doesn't seem to start until you go to the screen at the bay and begin playing. Another pro tip- ensure that the service member helping out your area goes through the safety briefing first otherwise if you start a game they have to end it to log that the briefing occurred. From there your time starts! We began playing block party which is the most approachable game as every shot gives you points. We cycled through pretty much all the games and enjoyed sonic as well. Our least favorite was angry birds. Our attendant was great and got us waters right away, then she recommended the flat bread and the sliders. We chose the hot honey flat bread and goodness they should advise that this isn't an ordinary flat bread, it's like a pan pizza flat bread and is amazing!! Perfect combination of spicy, sweet and savory. My husband and i shared and still had some to take home - granted we weren't that hungry but wanted to try the food. Which, while was a great pizza, was also $16. I also maybe wouldn't advise ordering it if you're playing a lot because honey and golf doesn't exactly go together - especially when it's your turn to hit with the shared clubs. Bring hand sanitizer. Overall though, the time went by quick, the fun was seamless and the bathrooms were very clean. The second story is much more fun and advantageous to play from but there are options on the bottom too and especially if you bring your own clubs and want to practice. Be advised that you likely cannot bring your own drivers to hit with. The enclosed space for hitting only goes to about 200 yards. I for one, cannot wait to come back and make this a regular place to meet up with friends. With their hours being so open and the arcade/bar area stocked - this place is going to fill up fast! My best advice is to plan ahead and have fun!
