Well, it was a matter of time before I got out here to hit a round. U-Ridge has always been a…read morelittle "out of my league". It's been known as the top course in the area, and the cost reflects that. Anyone who has read my golf course reviews knows I like a good round for a nice price. On Monday we found a very nice deal for today, so out we went! To start, the place is gorgeous. The clubhouse is exquisite, as one would expect it to be. The grounds are immaculate. It's a great feeling to get into an electric golf cart with GPS built in. We headed over to the driving range to knock out a few balls before hitting the first tee. Nice Taylor Made range balls - livin' the high life today! The course itself is amazing. It's not your standard course where fairways run along each other making you feel boxed in by all the golfers. This course is a stroll through the rolling hills and woods of Verona, WI. While the course was busy, we only really noticed the group behind us. No big worries about slicing one into a crowd (because there's woods there...). The holes are challenging and not your "cookie cutter" holes from more basic courses. Interesting turns, strategically placed bunkers, and some water here and there make you think about your next shot. Same with some tee shots - do I go over those trees? Do I lay up because the fairway ends at 250? Do I drive the green and cut over that woods? Oh, to have some shots back... To summarize so far - we have a top-notch course, immaculate grounds-keeping, and a creative layout. What a place. Keeping that in mind, this is NOT a place for hackers to visit and work out the kinks. The course wants you to play to pace (2:15 per nine holes). If you start falling behind pace (they track you via GPS), they will come tell you to pick it up. If your shots are all over the place, you're best suited for a different course that is more forgiving. If you duff a lot, you will likely draw the ire of the members behind you waiting to play. Thankfully, we were ahead of pace and having a nice morning! It was an exquisite treat for me. Will I pay rack rate to shoot here? Probably not, unless it's a special occasion or I win the lottery. Will I keep an eye out for some hot rates online? You betcha! I loved playing this course and look forward to hitting it again.

I appreciate the size of the screens and the accuracy of the sim. The ball popping up is nice as opposed to walking around and picking them up and setting on an upside down plastic basket. The vibe is trendy and fresh. It was busy when we first arrived, so we waited a little to use the bays, but we just ponied up to the bar and enjoyed a beverage while catching up with old friends. Once our bay opened up, we headed over and started warming up. The bartenders were very friendly, and they checked on us often. We hadn't had dinner, so we ordered the giant pretzel and the ultimate nachos. Both were delicious! The pretzel was very good - it came with beer cheese and mustard that had a slight cinnamon taste to it that made it really tasty. We enjoyed a few moscow mules with our appetizers. Long green couches line the ends of the hitting bays, as well as a coffee table and some high top tables and chairs. There is plenty of room for your party, and the only complaint I have is that it would be nice if there were bag stands - I felt like all of our golf bags were in the way a bit. Otherwise it's very spacious and open! When you step up to hit the ball, there are easy to use buttons that mechanically put the ball on the tee for you. You can then knock it down if you want to hit off the mat and/or putt. I like that there are also buttons if you want to move the tee up and down, and you can use the computer screen to aim when putting to take into account any break. It really is simple to use and very fun! Next time I will probably check out the Middleton location instead, as it's closer to me, but overall this is in a great area and I highly recommend it!

Sorry for the three stars, guys... this is a combination of the course itself and how I golf…read morethere. The course is relatively flat, which makes it great for walking - except for the distance between some holes. Even while carting it can feel like a long haul from one green to the next tee box. I'm not sure if that could be rearranged or if they're just stuck with that layout. Either way, I tend to cart there. There is plenty of water on this course, and always where my ball wants to go! This is a very challenging course if you're not the straightest hitter. Most of the holes require some sort of control, so if your driver is erratic, you might want to put it in time-out and tee off with an iron. I've always found the greens and fairways in very good shape - the greens can run fast, so be prepared - try to stay below the hole if you have that kind of control. For some reason, it always seems to be windy when I'm golfing here. Perhaps that is because the course is so flat and in an open part of the county. Of course, the wind *always* wants to blow my shots into the water! LOL I've scored okay here, but generally feel like I'm struggling through the round. A lot of thought goes into which club you will hit. If the yardage says "7-iron", the wind might require you to hit a 6-iron so you don't fall short into water. This course really makes you think. The Meadows is a good test - if you feel like you're hitting well, come here to see if you really are. You won't find a lot of woods getting in your way, but the water makes up for that... I love the location in Waunakee - very convenient for many parts of the Madison area. I'd like to see them run some more deals. For the money, I'd rather play elsewhere, but I ccould be lured in with a nice weekday deal.

We needed a coucliser to Madison, so this time one of our party did have to drive by us in the Milwaukee area for once,so I looked them up. Reasonably priced(if you play after 4:30 ,$51 for 18 w/cart,otherwise it's $62 ish) so we booked for after 4:30( gotta move if you wanna get the full 18 in).Nice setup with a driving range and putting green for practice and a decent pro shop and decent bar and eating area(they also had an auction going on in a separate event tent, which I assume is also used for weddings). The course has multiple tee boxes, and I do mean multiple,in order to make it easier or tougher, depending on you skill level.Their carts are really nice ,with yardage led screens and ball washers and divot repair bottles to fill in the divots course is well manicured and has several hazards to challenge you. That brings me to the one reason I don't give them 5 stars, the greens.Given the quality of the rest of the course,it was very disappointing in their quality. They were mowed well, but lots, and I mean lots of roughness all over( could be lots of the golfers just didn't pick up their feet),which at most courses I've played, were never as bad as this and were taken care of better.I definitely expected better given the quality of the rest of the course. All in all, still a pretty decent value.

Plenty of seating at the bar--along with a lounge'y space with a cute backdrop for photo-ops! I recall four beers on tap, and no drink specials. However, the menu did have a variety of "upscale" bar food! We ordered a fair amount but I only remember eating the curds (3/5) and fried green beans (5/5), which was my fave! PROS: I loved that we were able to try a variety of activities at our own pace! Each area had seating, enough for 6-7 people (sofas or bar stool/counter). Alcohol wipes were available. Music level was good and lighting slightly dimmed--great ambience! We got to chat with Collin (the owner) about his vision and learned that the simulators can pretty much play anything! This means events held here can be both adult AND kid-friendly--woo hoo! Just try not to bring a stroller here, as it's on the second floor with steep steps. Looking forward to more events here...and to what becomes of the outdoor space! CONS: We came on a Tuesday, so there was only one person working the bar + kitchen. Service was a slow as it got busy, and later into the night. There are only two private restrooms (which were nice and clean!). I can see this being a problem, especially for a place that can hold 100+ people. Will be back for more indoor fun!

We've booked a simulator for several birthdays and other special occasions. They have tons of games to choose from on the simulators; golf, baseball, basketball, zombie dodgeball, soccer, and more! It is so much fun when you get a good simulators! We've noticed that some simulators don't work as well or maybe aren't aligned. Some of the equipment they provide is faulty as well. When everything is working well, it's a 5/5 star experience! They also have food and drinks you can purchase while you are playing. I've only tried one of the appetizers but I haven't tried the rest of the food. The appetizer my group got was delicious and the drinks are always good as well. The bartenders and servers are wonderful as well. They are alway super helpful and friendly. They do have happy hour and other specials as well so keep an eye out for those. Overall, if they make sure the simulators are working properly and replace the broken equipment, 7 Iron would be a consistent 5/5 experience in my opinion.
