I make my annual trip to Madison, WI for a small vacation and always stop in to Nevada Bob's to visit with Joel and Davey. They have really built a solid business based on customer service and helping any type of golfer to play their best game. They are in a transition period, but have continued to provide the best experience in golf retail by hiring and training a solid crop of new employees to carry on the tradition. It's actually a multi-generational group of golf mad employees; Andy, Max, Andrew, Jeff, Dick, Jerry and "Curly". You really don't have to "see Joel for a deal" anymore, he and Davey have attracted a lot of enthusiastic golf employees who have taken over the responsibilities for running the best golf shop that I've ever been to, and I've visited many of them from coast to coast in my career. If you are a new golfer or an older golfer, you can always find someone there to help you improve your game, or find something to satisfy the "golf itch" that we all have, to enjoy the greatest game ever invented. My apologies if I forgot to mention all the other employees there, I just don't know their names, but when you see them interact with customers, you just know that they are good listeners and also do not ever pressure them, or "BS" them into getting something that won't be useful to them. Got a good price on a used putter, cant complain about that. Nice area to test them out. Only real complaint, was checking out and was just thrown a random putter head cover in a bin. Didn't have a choice, just here ya go. Thought that was odd, but otherwise a large club selection and quick/cheap club regripping. Would recommend this place. read more

I admit it. I love golf. I like being around "golf" - be it a course, a store, or whatever. Since Golf Galaxy closed down last year, Nevada Bob's is THE place to go. They were always the nicer golf store in town anyway. What sets this store apart from other places is the staff. They know the game, and they know their equipment. My most recent experience was dragging in a friend that needed new irons. Without a starting point, their staff was able to get a feel for what his game was and suggest a few irons to try. They nailed it and he bought a sweet set of Cobra irons. What was really nice is they didn't high-ball him with expensive irons. They found what he needed and didn't steer him to the bigger sale. You gotta love that kind of service. And, being a true golf shop, they will fit the clubs to you more than a general sporting goods store will do. I'm a deal-hunter, so I'd like to see more sale items. But that's not their big business - if you want clearance-rack items, there are other stores for that. If you want a good selection of quality golf items and reasonable prices, go to Nevada Bob's. Even if you don't think you need anything, this is a great place to kill a lunch hour or stall on your way home from work. I've literally never been in a golf store in my life, and have some pretty hefty social anxiety. Kristen (sorry if spelling is off!) was the kindest, most supportive and patient person I've ever met. She CLEARLY has big knowledge of the game, but was never remotely condescending. The person I went in the shop with knew what we/I was looking for but I'd imagine you could walk in here with no clue about anything + the desire to start a new hobby and walk out with some gear and a smile on your face. read more

Visited while out of town to get help lengthening a putter after having found some cutoff metal plugging the shaft opening. Walked straight to the back and met Davey, who immediately tried a variety of methods to remove the plug. When it was clear that we couldn't do much, and none of the standard extensions would fit it, he took a used clubshaft out of the trash, cut it down, fitted the end of my putter, and even epoxied it for a quick fix. When I asked what I owed for the work, he just asked that I always come to Nevada Bob's when I'm next in town. Truly great service and people, and the used club selection appeared pretty robust & priced fairly. Whether you are brand new to the sport or you're a pro looking to upgrade: Nevada Bob's has you covered. Went to Nevada Bob's to look at an Iron set for my Grandson who is a High School golfer. We were greeted by Joe who was very friendly. We looked at different sets, tried 3 of them in their virtual reality golf simulator. Joe watched him very closely. He showed us a shot of where the ball strikes the club. My Grandson was able to take as many shots as he wanted. He was treated like you would expect but Joe went above and beyond. He was very informative, not pushy in any way! We got a great deal on a set of Iron's with a healthy discount. No reason to shop anywhere else, so we purchased the set, very impressed. read more

I was told one price for a club by Employee A, I go to checkout and was told "there's no way we would sell it for that price." After saying I don't want it, it was included in my purchase at a higher price than I was originally told be that employee. After I realized it, I didn't want to complain because the cashier was friendly and not her fault. Needs to have clearer communication between employees and when in doubt, should give the benefit to the customer. read more

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. I had a driver shaft replaced and after using it for the first time at the driving range, the shaft cracked where they had connected the new shaft to the driver head. They refused to acknowledge that they had done poor work, refused to help replace it without buying a whole new shaft and then ignored me while I asked for alternative ideas. The women at the front counter was also very rude and accused me of stealing the broken club that she saw me bring in. read more

I've had great experience at Nevada Bob's. The owner, Joel, always takes the time to answer my questions and help out when he can. I recently bought a used club driver there and during a moment of hulk-esque strength at the driving range, I hit a ball and my shaft broke! It was the oddest thing. I didn't know if I should be upset or proud :) Anyhow, I took the club back to Nevada Bob's and they called Ping customer service and got me a replacement shaft for free! Since then, I've realized that I need a stiffer shaft and going in there today they said they could swap it out for free if they had one available. I really love places that take care of their customers and I feel like this place has done a great job of taking care of me. read more

There are many helpful employees at Nevada Bob's, all have above average knowledge of the game. I worked with a young lady, Kristen I believe, and she was wonderful to work with. I had many questions before dropping big bucks on a new set of clubs and accessories and she was never pushy or impatient. I was a displeased with the way one of the older gentlemen working there seemed to treat her. He acted as if I should be working with him instead of her and hovered around her as she helped me. He seemed to diminish her value and knowledge otherwise I would have given this store 5 stars. This place has just about anything you could need for the game of golf, some of it overpriced but there are many bargains as well. Joel, the owner, can answer just about anything related to golf and golf products. When I do return for my next purchase, and I will return, I'll seek out Kristen partly out of spite for the way she was treated that day but mostly because she is awesome, knowledgeable and helpful. Stopped in Neveada Bobs before the holiday to do some last minute gift shopping. I always find my experience in this store to very pleasant. Joel (the owner) and his staff are always very friendly and helpful. I was looking for a junior set of clubs for my son and was helped by Joel who made the decision on what I should buy very easy. Not only did I leave the store buying a new set for my son but after looking through their very extensive selection of used clubs I decided to buy myself a set of used irons. In my option the service, selection and prices were exceptional. I seem to always find what I need at a great price at Nevada Bobs when looking for anything golf related, I find no need to look anywhere else! Until recently, I had no problems with this store. However, I recently went there to purchase a Palmer hat. They had none in stock, but said they could order some and it would take from a week to ten days. I gave them my name & phone number and asked to be called when it came in. After not hearing from them for two weeks I called them. I was told they could not get the hat & that my request was crossed out in their order form, & I could order something else. I had a great experience with the customer service at Nevada Bob's. It had been about 10 years since I had upgraded my clubs and I stopped in to see what they had. The gentleman that helped me had listened to what I was looking for in my irons. He had selected several options and set me up in the simulator to test them out. I decided on a set and played them for about three weeks, when I felt that they were not right for me. Nevada Bob's honored their 30 day return policy and I was able to return and get another set. The new irons are working great and can't say enough about how Nevada Bob's had treated me while I was making my selection. read more
