This range has the perfect location. The staff are great. It's a small range but it's perfect for pistol training. I'll definitely go back to this range and fully recommend it to anyone visiting the area. I was visiting from Georgia and I was wearing my bulldogs hat. They let me live but mentioned that my G was the wrong color and suggested that I fix it before returning. Next time there, I was wearing a Wisconsin hat... problem solved. Stopped in randomly while passing through town. I didn't use the range, but there were people there using it, and listening in they were certainly having a good time and the gentleman running the range was very friendly. He even came over to welcome us to the shop once he was free. The other gentleman working the gun counter was busy with a customer, but once he was free he was respectful as well. He was very helpful in some discussions we were having over high end flashlights in stock. For a smaller shop they had a very good selection of firearms, from mid-higher range (in my point of view) which was really nice to see. Next time I'm through the area I will certainly stop by again with more intent. read more

I came into town from out of state to be with my family. I called Max Creek on Wednesday 1/17/2024 to reserve time for my granddaughter and I to shoot. They didn't answer at 9:10a so I left a message asking them to call me so I can reserve a time. Today is 1/24/2024 and I am leaving tomorrow and they still have not called. If you look at the reviews . . . either great or not good. (like most people/personalities in general) My experience was great! Had 3 generations of family range time, looked thru the shop, chatted with employees and patrons . . . all around a very positive experience! These folks are running a business, answering phone calls, managing the range, and selling in the shop. Great selection of outdoor goods and shooting supplies. Family-friendly service. And generally great/friendly people! If they don't greet you the second you walk in the door, they're probably working on something for another customer (in person or by phone) . . . be patient, and have some grace. A great local business supporting shooting sports in my mind. If you are/were unhappy, it's on you. These guys provide a great environment/opportunity. If you walk in and say nothing, ask no questions, don't ask for help, and generally keep your head down. You can't really leave a bad review . . . you've shown you don't want the personnal interaction and they respect that. To anyone who is looking for a great experience and to shoot a firearm for the first time this is not the place to go! Me and my lady walked into the gun store and sat there staring at an employee with his feet up after about 2 mins he asks me do we need help and I reply "yes we're looking to shoot a firearm for the first time". After we get all the equipment together I explain to him as he's ringing everything up that we're only looking to stay 30mins and he doesn't answer so I assume he heard me. We get done shooting after about 15mins with over half the bullets remaining due to my lady not wanting to shoot. We get ready to return the equipment and a charge of 113$ comes up on my phone, I looked at the receipt and found out I was charged for two lanes for one hour and I immediately go up to the clerk assuming that there was a mistake after seeing online that roommates and family can share a lane, after returning the equipment I bring this to his attention that there was a mistake and he doesn't even let me finish before walking away to get the owner of the store. The owner came over and out of the gate was super aggressive and rude as I was explaining the situation to him, I was told that I can only do an hour and not 30mins and that there was no shared lanes and after explaining to him that my lady didn't even shoot let alone step in the LANE the store owner said "no one is allowed in my range without paying" I knew then that there was no point to sit there and argue with this guy so I walked out. They are more all about money than people. I didn't even shoot but had to pay in order to be on the range to watching my friends shoot! I didn't bring a gun, I had eye and hearing protection, but no gun. They didn't care. And it wasn't cheap! NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

I have never come across a colder less friendly gun store anywhere in the US (typically friendly like minded people who connect). My experience... Walked in ready to buy. No welcome, hello, whatcha looking for, or can I help you from either person behind the counter. They never made positive contact with me. Browsed a minimal selection of gear, a near empty ammo table, and a starving rack of rifles. Tried to make small talk and look at pistols (maybe they'd come around), but no, nothing. They were good enough talking to each other and short answers for me. Needless to say, no purchase was made. That was probably fine by them still. Left with no words or appreciation. I am amazed by this business model. Not remotely worth the drive down from Madison. Not even worth the drive around the corner in town. Terrible customer experience, period. read more

Used to be my favorite place. Shot there regularly and bought 2 guns there recently. Till today when I met the owner who was very angry and aggressive. I have brought a lot of people there. Fortunately there are other places to shoot and buy guns and ammo. If you are looking to get into a fight over 10 extra pieces of brass on the ground than this is your place. Great gun shop/range! Range is very clean, with a great ventilation system. Gun shop has a wide variety of options, and options to trade if you're looking to upgrade. The owner/staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and are willing to spend time helping you think through your decision to find the right gun for you. Also features a live action league on Wednesday's, which is a blast (no pun intended). Mark sets up fun and challenging courses, that are great for new shooters like myself all the way up to seasoned shooters. Finally, I don't have to give ANY of my money to Gander Mountain. Previously they had the best indoor range in the area, but MaxCreek has the EXACT same range (same company installed it, etc) except that it has 30% more lanes and 50% more range!!!!! What's more, the place is family owned and operated by a great bunch of folks. Johnny, with whom I've had the most contact, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They have a wide selection of weapons and accessories, and very reasonable pricing. They also have a competent gunsmith with whom they work (shout out Black Thistle Gunsmithing in Evansville) which is a great. I could list a bunch of bullet points (for the sake of the pun, more than anything), but instead I'll just put it plainly: If you've been spending your money at a different range or retailer, you need to seriously rethink what's available! read more

A great array of guns across a variety of styles, and the relatively new range is a wonderful facility with a ton of care (and cost, from what I can gather), put into its construction and upkeep. I've had a few transactions now, and plan on many more. They are knowledgeable, friendly, beyond helpful and reasonably priced. You really can't ask for more. Great local gun shop. I mainly dealt with Sean, great guy, knowledgeable and nice! Not pushy at all. Price is reasonable, generally a little bit more expensive than Gander and about the same as Cabelas. I always choose to support the local gun shop whenever I can, even if that means paying $20 more. I shoot here regularly, at least 1x a week going back a few months. The owners of the shop Steve and his son are very knowledgeable and friendly. They will answer any and all questions you have while not trying to upsell you. They have a good selection of shotguns rifles and handguns and will special order anything you may want. I have traded them a few guns, as well as bought a gun, and transferred a gun in....all transactions are seamless. They have a high end selection of benelli shotguns and they carry stoeger and browning as well. They sell safes and safe accessories. They have a great holster selection, and magazines. Ammo is priced fairly well guns are priced very well imo. They do consignment sales for firearms, and will do ffl transfers as well. The range is great, action pistol on Wednesday's with mark is the most fun you can have with your pants on. It's great for new concealed carry holders who want some more trigger time but don't want to shoot a static target. Mark is a great person to run the league patient and willing to give advice and tips if needed or wanted. They also offer concealed carry classes.
