Great family business in downtown Marshall. This is the only gun shop I go to! Great selection & service with lots of interesting items for sale. Tom & Julie are very knowledgeable and helpful and do repairs quickly and efficiently. You can feel confident in the work they do! Good prices, no need to go to the big box store! They do a lot for their community so you feel good supporting their business. Service with a smile! read more

I have been stopping into Little Jon's Archery since 2013, so this is a review on my culmination of…read morevisits. In 2013, I decided that it was time to upgrade my bow. I had been shooting an old Mathews that I had been using for about 10+ years. Knowing that I was going to need a bow that had a longer draw length (I am 6'5") I did some research before I arrived. The staff is knowledgeable at Little Jon's but I think it's really a good idea to look at what they carry and do some research before you go in to pick a bow and shoot them. I was between a Mathews and a Bowtech. I ended up going with a Bowtech Experience. The owner was very helpful with assisting me select a bow and answered any questions I had. I was unsure on what brands and types of accessories I wanted. Although I had a general idea of what I wanted, I didn't have anything set in stone. The team was very helpful with selecting a sight (5-pin), arrow rest and arrows. I picked out my quiver and stabilizer without any assistance. When my bow was put together it was paper tuned to select the best arrow for the bow. Coincidentally the arrow that was the best was also one of the most expensive, Gold Tip. If I had to do it again, I would go with less expensive arrows. Since I am not going out West and attempting 70 yard shots, I believe that a less-expensive (not cheap though) arrow would work just fine on whitetail and turkey at 20-50 yards. This is the set-up I ended up going with: Bowtech Experience, AXT Headhunter 5-pin sight, Trophy Taker Smackdown drop away arrow rest, Trophy Ridge Stabilizer, Fuse quiver, Gold Tip arrows and Dirt Nap Gear D.R.T broadheads (not sold in their store). All together my set up was around $1,500 for everything. I have been back with my bow several times and the staff are always willing to help out and answer questions, but sometimes it takes a while to get help. On a couple of occasions I have waited 30 min to an hour to be helped. But that's if you are going during the busy time of the year (also those that help you in the store are most of the times the ones working on bows) Little Jon's also has an outdoor range that I have used as well as video archery. If you are looking for some very personal help and years of experience (owner) you should go to Little Jon's. I got tired of being helped at the big box stores by employees that knew less than I did. Check them out!

That said, the selection of quality bikes (cargo or standard, e-bike or not) which the Cargo Bike Shop sells is amazing, so the likelihood you'll find better equipment elsewhere is low. Following a very poor experience with another bike shop in Madison I needed to find an honest mechanic willing and able to service my cargo e-bike. Tim, at the Cargo Bike Shop fit the bill. Though I did not purchase my bike from him, he and his staff were helpful and far more knowledgeable about e-bikes and equipped to service them than any of the other shops I'd visited. Following a great experience with him on some basic maintenance, Tim helped me scope out a fairly large drive-train customization. Which in the end turned out even better than I'd hoped. His communication before and during the project was stellar: Tim warned me beforehand of the possibility of issues with the availability of some parts I'd selected, and successfully sourced the parts when the sole supplier was less than responsive. Even with a significant amount of extra effort on Tim's part, the final price was fair and the quality of work second-to-none.

Prices for repairs are competitive with the Madison bike shops. Most recently, when the shifter on my bike was giving my problems, they found a replacement and got my back on the road in less than 24 hours. (Unlike the Trek Store on the West side that was unable to address this same problem, but that is a story for another review). The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. They have made some minor adjustments to my daughter's bike at no charge on several occasions. The owner does seem to be on the phone a lot, so several times when I've dropped in I've had to wait for him to finish his call to get helped.

Obviously your feelings will vary depending on what you're looking for. If your grandma collected it, you'll find it here in enormous quantities. Put yourself in the mindset of visiting a rummage sale the size of an airplane hangar and you'll be spot on. Staff wasn't especially pleasant. There are vendors galore at the flea market and something for everyone. Arrive early for the best finds and to be sure you have time to see everything because there are so many items on display. Many vendors are open to making a deal even! A few food vendors on site as well in case you get hungry for breakfast, lunch, snack or beverages but I'd like to see more options in the future. Bring cash although there are a few who accept Venmo, just don't count on it. Otherwise, it's a great place to spend a few hours and find things you may or may not know you needed!

This year we couldn't muster the strength to cut our tree down ourselves, so the nice gentleman did it for us with a compact chainsaw. I'm asking Santa for compact chainsaw. They have several different types and sizes of trees, ranging in price starting at about 35 bucks and up. The cost includes shaking, bundling, and help loading the tree if you need it. Specifically, we have a butt head cat, so we always go here and get a blue spruce. He leaves it alone because it is VERY prickly. Instead, he sits nearby and stares at it until New Years. Haha to you cat!

It's actually a multi-generational group of golf mad employees; Andy, Max, Andrew, Jeff, Dick, Jerry and "Curly". You really don't have to "see Joel for a deal" anymore, he and Davey have attracted a lot of enthusiastic golf employees who have taken over the responsibilities for running the best golf shop that I've ever been to, and I've visited many of them from coast to coast in my career. If you are a new golfer or an older golfer, you can always find someone there to help you improve your game, or find something to satisfy the "golf itch" that we all have, to enjoy the greatest game ever invented. My apologies if I forgot to mention all the other employees there, I just don't know their names, but when you see them interact with customers, you just know that they are good listeners and also do not ever pressure them, or "BS" them into getting something that won't be useful to them.
