I have been a tad out of sorts with my golf game and finally decided that I needed one-on-one assistance as YouTube videos were not helping. A few of my golfing buds recommended Golf Galaxy and their Pro Maddie Mattocks. Cutting to the chase, she has been beyond wonderful! At our first lesson I told her that I am a visual learner and to not talk angles regarding my swing. She has aligned her teaching method to my learning persona perfectly. Maddie has a very low key, consistently positive feedback approach to instruction. I love her explain, Demo, now do it Paul approach. The Trackman provides feedback regarding every aspect of your swing, launch angle, ball compression, and so forth. I am on lesson three and have had remarkable results. I highly recommend Maddie regardless if you just picking up the game or need to get your established game improved. read more

Gray - an apparent "sales lead" - made me feel like a jackass for having a $1k budget and seemed incapable of offering any suggestions beyond that. I've never been to Golf Galaxy, but we've been members of a country club in our 30-year Austin history. I saw the golf bag area and dug into the area but couldn't find the bag I wanted. I knew they had 2 of these bags. i pressed the button for assistance and Jason came, clearly annoyed that I had asked for help. Jason said "What color do you want for your husband's bag? " I said--again--that I was looking for a model of a golf bag, not a color. He sighed and asked again about color. Such a ding dong. Also rude, condescending and has no business being in sales. Would give 0 stars if I could. I never leave reviews but this experience was ridiculous. I went in for a club fitting (full bag) for 250 bucks. I was expecting to take our time and hit different clubs, shafts, and grips but that was not the case. First, the "certified club fitter" had cashier on his name tag, could not operate the computer for multiple fitting apps they use and kept making weird jokes. Second, we literally rushed through a full bag fitting in 2 hours. He only let me hit one driver and then said "found your driver". It cracked in crown while playing in the course last sunday. I brought it back to the store. These are their responses to it basically. "We don't make titleist.You need to talk to titleist direct.There is nothing I can do about it." They even refused to give me purchase date and the copy of receipt. So I am calling titleist now, but they told me I was not supposed to talk to titleist, I needed to talk to the golf galaxy where I purchased. So what am I supposed to do now when I have a defected driver like this? No driver can be broken or cracked unless I am stringer than Woods. Its obviously product defect. Steve and Jason are awesome!! Steve has helped my husband and I several times. He helped with finding the right putters and grips for both of us and makes excellent recommendations for other items. I needed a new travel bag and he pointed out items I hadn't even thought about that will help with durability and protection of my clubs. Jason helped both of us today with a driver fitting and spent as much time with us as we needed and answered every question we had. Countless situations where I left feeling disrespected (as if I was bothering the golf pro's or managers with my questions) or getting pushed off to the 1800 during the week, etc. It's almost as if they believe they are the only shop in town. Simply the best place in town for your golf needs. Golf Galaxy picked up the Golfsmith stores a few years ago and kept many of them although sadly, the big one out on I35 N is gone along with its great outdoor practice facility! Yet at the Arboretum location you're going to find most of what you need for women or men, with just a tad bit for the kids. This is an adult golf store. And if you're lucky, you'll run into Tom out on the floor who will take excellent care of you, and Selina behind the counter who is nice and helpful. They've good some good peeps. Today's version of Golf Galaxy doesn't carry quite as much inventory as the old store, but its quality merchandise from the major brands and they're well-stocked. Don't forget clothes and shoes - they've got that covered as well. With six indoor bays (and five linked their own monitor) you can swing away and see what feels good. My two favorite things about Golf Galaxy: if you've got some time on a rainy Tuesday afternoon you can spend an hour in those hitting bays trying just everything. I know: I've done it. And number two? Well, you're going to need some clubs to try and the trade-in racks are full of irons, hybrids, woods & drivers You're going to find something to hit. Big plus on the trade in rack - most of it is high quality name brand equipment unlike the old store which sometimes had some pretty whack stuff crammed in there! And don't forget to look over the pre-owned putters - there are some gems to be found for the patient. Ok. Remember Golf Galaxy is tied to Dick's so your bonus points from one store apply to the other, and, GG often has some serious good sales on shoes and clothing as well as the Rep days when various club makers come in pimping their stuff. I love Dick Sporting Goods and was hoping for a similar experience here. I discovered the opposite at Golf Galaxy. I'm heading to Boston to play at The Country Club, arguably one of the most iconic courses in the US, if not the world. I wanted to upgrade my putter, get some new apparel, and possibly some new shoes. I was in the store - which actually does have a great selection and all major brands - for almost an hour. I meandered around accessories, the clubs section, the swing analysis center, apparel, and the putting green. I passed by at least 8 if not 10 different "staff" members - easily noticed by their Golf Galaxy polos and radio war pieces - and was never approached or asked if I needed help. I walked around with a few items and even plastered a "please help me" look on my face and was ignored. That didn't stop one sales staff to walk in my lie as I putted though. Not until 45 minutes into my stop did I speak to the front desk staff when I asked if they had a specific size in some under armor shorts. I went back and placed all my potential items where I found them, kindly nodded to the 5 GG staff congregated by the club selection, and walked out the front door with zero intention of returning. If you know what you need and in what size or model, you'll probably be able to find it here. If you want quality customer service and a world class experience, steer clear of Golf Galaxy. read more

I went there yesterday to look at irons. Although I hadn't made an appointment, I was helped by Steve Templin who set me up in one of the bays and brought various models to try. With just a few shots, the machine pointed out to me what was wrong with my swing. (Closed face at impact.) I realized I needed to fix that before I invested in new clubs. Steve was very patient and kind even after spending an hour with me knowing he wasn't going to make the sale. Frustration is an understatement with this place. Ready to drop $100's of dollars on new clubs and shafts and can't even get anybody to check on you or greet you. They're too busy letting the hackers have fun on the simulators which is hard to watch. Went in a few weeks ago and made it easy for the guy. He didn't come to me, I went to him. Told em I had a Sim driver head and wanted a new shaft. Of course they didn't have the one I liked in stock, but he assured me it could be ordered and in store in a 3-5 days. THE ORDER WASNT even verified in 3 to 5 days, so more like a few weeks. I'll be lucky if I swing that thing by the end of July. I go back in to test shafts for my sim 3wood and just standing by for 25 mins in the track man hitting a 7 iron to warm up and no one ever comes. I stop by the shop counter on the way out just in hopes that my shaft might be in. I ask and the gentlemen checks which is fine, but another gentlemen comes walking up and they just start shootin' the gums and I'm standing there unsure of what's going on. When this shaft comes in, I pray to god sometime this next month, I may just find somewhere else to have installed and 3wood. Staff is incompetent and have no idea what they're doing. Better off setting the track man up yourself and trying the clubs and comparing the results, then go order it online or find a mom and pop golf store. These hackers are probably all 20+ handicaps anyways. TRASH ***UPDATE*** went to the PGA store online and ordered 2 of the shafts that golf galaxy couldn't get delivered or even processed in a timely manner and got for $200 less than what they had em marked up for. Needless to say won't be long until golf galaxy goes outta business. Lesson to be learned. Look else where when purchasing and really only go to golf galaxy to hit the clubs, but buy somewhere else. I have been doing extensive research on shafts and trying to learn my way around them rather than walking in blind, getting a fitting, and then telling me I should be using this without knowing why or what has changed. First I got my current shaft adjusted. Then I started thinking more about just getting a new driver. I literally had a TaylorMade M5 in my hand and I was going to pony up 550$ for it. I was told I might be able to exchange a shaft with another M5 and was asking about the kickpoint on a certain shaft. The gentlemen helping me called in for help. "Scott" maybe " " not positive" came over and the first two sentences out of his mouth were. "Why are you looking at shafts and asking questions that you don't know anything about? You should get a fitting" his tone was derogatory Some more gargle came from his mouth and I was floored. Couldn't say a word. I just shook my head then I put the club back on the shelf and walked out the door. Worst customer service I've ever seen. Unfortunately "Scott" you've now made me a PGA Superstore customer/advocate for life. It's two minutes away just across the street. Their staff is knowledgeable, courteous, with a better selection. They'll also price match anything you find at Golf Galaxy. The only thing this place has going for them is "Coach". Take your business to the Superstore! Although if you find yourself in here speak to Coach get a price and drive across the street to make sure they don't have a better deal. read more

I had to ask the cashier the same question and his reply was yes but if you buy a set you get it back... I like to gamble but you want a $100 for me to even get in the store... I went into the store to demo some irons. I don't know the name of the guy who "helped me" since he never introduced himself or asked my name. While I was hitting he spend the majority of the time talking to guys who were in their and demoing drivers. When I went to the front of the store to stand in line to purchase the irons, at a total cost of $974.24, I waited while another customer was making a purchase while basically taking phones calls the whole time. Once his purchase was complete the sales gal turned away and started doing other things. I told her I was waiting to purchase my clubs and she told me I wasn't standing "in the line". There was no posting to show where the line was! As a senior women I will make a point to NEVER shop in this store again! read more

So I have spent thousands in here. Every year getting my wife and I clubs regripped...new clubs, bags, balls ..whatever. I WILL NEVER go again. Bought hundreds of $$$ of XMAS presents this year here - one was defective. Fifty dollas or so , I got in and ask to just replace, not refund. The guy replaces and says "you owe us $5. 85". I am like WTH? Same product? A month ago...like for like replace ...and I owe? He is like.."yeah, so you used a 10 percent discount card." I am like ok, yes, but I am replacing like for like - I cannot get a new one for the one I got without owing ? When I used my 10 percent. I did not relalize I bought a broken item....not my fault. Now sice my 10 % is expires I am charged ? Managers...you should be ashamed. Replace products "like for like" - who cares if I got 6 bucks off because of a discount card- YOU sold a DEFECTIVE. Item....YOU!!! I will now take my business to PGA Superstore. How rude are your people when I asked why this was ?? David in the shop saved the day. After an ambitious DIY streak I was on, I bought grips and tape to do it on my own. When I hit a wall, I took them in and David walked me through it and then turned it around ASAP. He was awesome, and the customer service otherwise has been good.
