Long but worth the read... We've rented from them for two years in a row for the duration of our stays. We've been with couples that rented from other guys. Here's what I've learned. 1. Rent online before you arrive. Weeks not days... certainly not day of arrival. 2. Companies by port are predatory in all respects in practically all situations. Couple with us rented from one (Islanders?) and negotiated a return time. Upon return the guy taking the cart charged for extra day. Friend took out the contract copy and showed him. The guy took it from his hand and changed the return time right in front of him. What do you do now? He has your driver's license. I'll tell you what you do...you suck it up and pay the man to get your license back. Maybe fight with your credit card later. They know that too. They don't care about your review...the ferry is dropping off another load of suckers as you are speaking. 3. Indios have good prices and their response to WhatsApp messages is almost instant during business hours. We had a flat last year and they promptly arrived, repaired and left. Another example...We parked at north beach. While parked we were hit in the rear damaging the part where passengers sit. We reported it and they said don't worry, we'll charge no more for that. They don't nickel and dime you to death at every opportunity. 4. Now with all the good...here's the "bad" if you will. Their carts are not the fastest or newest but for the daily price difference, service, and to support some decent hardworking people...I'll let you pass me in your newer cart costing $40 more per day. It's a RENTAL after all people! read more

We've been going to Isla for over 10 years. Always rent a cart. For me it's all part of the Isla experience. We have tried 3 cart places over the years. And Indios is the best! We had a cart for 7 days last week. The first one died on our first day, at our casa. Battery issues, but we called after 5pm and they came and gave us a new cart. By far the best way to really get a holistic view of Isla Mujeres and the islands beauty! There are many different golf cart / scooter rentals on the island and all it takes is some cash and your driver's license. There's light traffic, but no worries as there are many other people driving carts and stopping along the way to get photos or stop at various restaurants. We drive all the way from Playa Norte at the north tip of the island, to the far south of the island and the views were absolutely incredible. There are stops along the way that also offer fresh coconuts, if you need a refreshing beverage! No doubt you'll have a great time with Golf Carts Indios! Best, Charlie read more

We rented a cart for two days. Reasonable pricing ($50 a day), and really nice folks to deal with. We were signed up and on the road in five minutes. You do have to surrender your drivers license, but pick it up on return (no problem, incident free, just a little cringe moment). Easy to find, easy pickup and easy return. read more

We reserved our golf cart before we got to the island. It is rather pricey. $370 USD (including PayPal fee) for 8 days; however, that is the average price to rent a gold cart on the island. The second day we had an excursion scheduled for early in the morning and our golf cart would not start and Indos does not open til 9. So we had to take a taxi to our pick up location. After our excursion we told them what happened and they immediately handed the keys over to a new golf cart and picked up the broken one. They offered to reimburse the taxi fees, but it wasn't really worth the hassle. They bring you gas every two days. Overall so far we are satisfied. They do keep your license until you bring the cart back, just FYI. read more

Did not have a very good experience renting from this company. I had made the reservation online ahead of time and booked for 4 days. Transaction was done through email via PayPal and I had booked for it to be delivered to me. The morning of delivery they did not show up at the specified time requested for delivery. After numerous times attempting to call and nobody answering they finally called back about an hour later. When I told them I had booked a reservation online they were able to locate my order and said they were doing inventory and would be right there. After about an hour and a half late they finally arrived. We then took the golf cart and immediately headed down the street to eat some breakfast. While we were eating we see two guys at our golf cart messing with it. We walk over to check it out and they were apparently from the company and were filling the golf cart with gas and changing the tire. Wouldn't that be something that should have been done ahead of time? Appreciated the maintenance I guess. After they left we noticed the parking brake did not work. We had to use a brick every time we parked for fear that it would go rolling away. On top of that we probably got the crummiest cart they had. It was incredibly slow. Other golf carts were passing us left and right and it would break down here and there. It was so awful to drive I will never rent from this place again. We went to Isla Mujeres after I had a lumpectomy to remove breast cancer for some relaxation. The golf cart we rented from Indios broke down the first day. They did send us a replacement cart after 25 minutes. The second one had brake issues and we couldn't get it to stay in park then the next day it wouldn't stop running after turning the key off for 5 minutes or so and couldn't leave it until it decided to stop running. They brought us another replacement and thankfully it ran without incident. We were passed by every other cart rented from other companies as ours was like a snail. We never knew each day if the carts we had would work which was very stressful. Then my 92 year old mother became very ill and we had to leave 3 days early. We were told we would get a refund for the remaining 3 days we didn't use the cart. When we returned home the manager, Isaura, informed us we would only get a 50% refund. We are very disappointed and when we return we will not be renting from Indios. read more

First, they have a website where you can reserve carts in advance, which is awesome. Then, they'll deliver the cart to where you're staying, which is rad. Finally, they'll come by and fill it up with gas for you, which is epic. Unfortunately, we did have a break-down with one of their carts, but gave them a call, and they had a new cart there pretty darn fast! Speaking of fast, we're from California, and are used to driving fast. On Isla, there is a low speed limit. Most of the cars are taxis, and there a ton of scooters. The rest are golf carts, mostly rentals, in varying states of age, repair, and nearly all have governors, some set WAY too low. I do not mind being passed by the police, taxis, and scooters, but I do mind being passed by anyone else. It's fun to pass people, eapecially as your daughter waves and says "Bye!" as you put-put-put on by. The reason this is important is that Indios rented us (well, after the breakdown) a cart in great condition. It didn't need an external bike lock (yay!), actually had varied accelleration, good steering, and was as fast as they come. We'll be using Indios in the future! One star off for the breakdown of the first cart, but they handled it well, and I'm sure it was a fluke. read more

Been renting here for 3 years. We accompany some friends that have been using Indios for years. We stayed on the island for a week. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RENT FROM THEM!!!! We rented 3 carts, one had problems on the second day. Whatsapped them to exchange it. The next day they did. Unfortuantely we had to change carts 4 times just on that cart, one of those times they just gave us the piece of crap we had the first time. We checked the air filter on one of them and it was solid black. Our friends cart had to be exchanged 3 times. They ended up exchanging them with a couple of our pieces of crap!! The third card was one of the newer orange ones. They never seemed to have an issue. We used their cart to push us up hills because the other carts had no guts. I'm not joking when i say I can run faster than those carts. One of the times we went to exchange because we had a flat time and they didn't want to air it up, there was another newer orange one. I asked for it, they said "NO" rather firmly. Insane they weren't willing to give us one that they knew worked, we had gone through so many carts at this point. Majority of the carts in addition to not having guts, the brakes barely worked and 3 out of 4, the E brakes never works. I strongly warn against renting from Indios Carts. There are other options on the island, and they're are pretty comparable in price. I would have paid more to have a functioning cart and not exchange so many times. read more

They also had a lot more power than other companies. We were on vacation with some friends and our cart was the best. They also delivered and picked up the carts from our hotel which was awesome. There are several golf cart rental companies on the island, this one is a few blocks north of the ferry terminal. I emailed about a cart the next day and got a quick response. Our first cart was really slow and one headlight was out so we traded it for another. The parking brake did not work on the second cart. When I went to pay, they asked for 200 pesos more than the set price, but quickly agreed when I said that price was more than specified earlier. Nice enough guys, gave us helpful directions about getting to restaurants and other places. A cart is fun here so I recommend getting one to tool around the island. They also have scooters for half the price of a cart. read more
