I randomly ordered delivery from here because I woke up on a Sunday morning with a big donut craving (as I often do LOL). Ordered coffee and an assortment of donuts to try, including the Glazed, Sugar, a Vanilla Concha, Donut Holes, a Crumb Donut, etc. They threw in an extra Sugar Donut and many more donut holes which was very much appreciated. The donuts weren't anything out of the ordinary, but they were decently good. They tasted fresh, and weren't overly oily or sweet. The Concha was probably my favorite. This small family-run bakery specializes in a large variety of traditional Mexican pan dulce & pastries, as well as standard bakery items & sweet treats. They offer breakfast selections, in addition to burritos, tortas and other specialities. Stopped in for a mid-afternoon coffee, and couldn't resist their goodies as everything looked inviting. Opened for Thanksgiving, this charming hole-in-the-wall is an easy to miss classic mom-and-pop with traditional mexican bakery items: conchas, banderas, coyotas, galletas de bodas, orejas, as well as American fare cinnamon buns, fruit croissants, donuts, donut holes and fritters. The chocolate sprinked donut I had was VERY sugary - so much that I couldn't finish. Otherwise, the concha breads were fabulously fluffy and fresh, soft on the inside and crunch on the outside. I also ordered Avena, or Mexican oatmeal, served in a coffee cup which was a little weird for having to suck oats out of a small hole, but nonetheless hearty and good for you - just the right sweetness. Finally, two very hot coffees, and they packed different flavor creams, sugars and stirrers in a separate bag for our take-out. Delicious, freshly baked items are on the offer at this small Mexican bakery, and the service was cheerful and friendly (albeit a bit rushed). We didn't have any problems parking on the street. There's also a Mexican market next door, so remember to pop in there too. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but during the day is completely safe. The old lady sold me rancid masa once during Christmas time. When I got it home and my Mom smelled it she raised holy heck! Since my Spanish isn't what it should be I made my little Mexican Momma go there with me to work it out. The lady laughed at my Mom saying that they only used good quality ingredients and that the masa was made "fresh" that morning. Well my Mother told her what for in English and Spanish! Seeing that my Mom was no dummy she just gave us our Money back and I started going to another bakery in Santa Barbara after that. Normally I had a good experiences however most recently they gave me the wrong order and since I don't eat pork I asked to exchange it for my correct order however they said once the food leave the store they can't do anything about it. This is where we go when we want dessert in Goleta, especially after a nice Mexican or Korean meal. The giant crispy flat thing that might be made of puff pastry is yummy but not overly sweet. The big puerco cookie is good, too. Of course the triangular empanadas are great, especially the ones made from calabasa (pumpkin.) If it's cold outside, and they have champurrado, order it. This sweet corn, cocoa, and cinnamon drink is better than hot chocolate. As for the food, the tamales are spicy and filling, just like home made. But I would avoid the chicken torta, unless you like skin and cartilage in your sandwich. read more

I just stopped by Goleta Bakery this morning for "Pan de Muerto" for Dia de Los Muertos. The bread was very fresh, the best I've had from a Mexican Bakery. We also tried some other pastries and everything was fresh and tasty. I've been to other Mexican bakeries (panaderias) in California where it tasted like the pastries had been sitting out for a few days. Not here! Give this place a try. Street parking was easy for me to find (look on Hollister or the nearest side street). I haven't tried the lunch or dinner food. read more

I tried to place an order for 500 brownies for a church function. They couldn't help me as there was no one there that spoke English.

My sister ordered me a cake from here. All I wanted was a tres leches cake for my birthday. She ordered me one but the older women taking her order didn't understand what my name was or how to spell it. My sister translated it into Spanish. The Spanish version of my name is not what I go by so my sister drove to the bakery and wrote my name out so there wouldn't be any confusion and wrote that she wanted my name written in pink icing. She went to pick up my cake my name was misspelled and the icing was orange and runny. She pointed out that the icing wasn't the color she asked for and my name was misspelled to which the older lady said oh oh well, the decorator must have not been paying attention. There was no effort to make it right to rewrite my name to give a discount because it's not what was ordered or even a sorry. WTF. The cake better be the most delicious cake I've ever tasted because I'm so mad my sister feels so bad that the cake she got for me isn't what was asked for. Will not order from here again and will tell everyone about their bad customer service. read more
