Welcome to our unofficial Sunday Funday Food review everyone. As per recent request by our follow Tyler from Chicago who wants to see sub videos I am compromising on this one and going sandwich, the classic corn beef Reuben. This was served on toasted rye bread, thousand Island dressing, Swiss cheese, and loaded with corn beef. This comes with a side of fries, which I may say are fresh cut fries and you get a signature "Goldstein Deli" pickle. This was a very delicious Reuben, everything on this sandwich complimented each other. The bread had a perfect toast to it. Now a little about the service here, very professional, very welcoming from the time I walked into the door to the time I left. I hate leaving reviews like this, but it has to be done. We tried breakfast at Goldstein's before checking their reviews and health score. I ordered a Bloody Mary, but nobody knew how to make one, so I canceled it. The bathrooms were stinky and full of flies, with a fly trap sitting on the sink. The counter looked like it had been wiped down with a dirty rag. Our omelets came out greasy, my wife's bacon was forgotten, and my utensil roll had no fork. My bacon, avocado, spinach, and tomato omelet had rock-hard avocado slices and undercooked bacon mixed with bacon bits. Potatoes were just okay but came with no condiments. I barely ate a few bites before I was too grossed out to continue. When I told the server, she just said, "I'll let them know," and still handed me the full check -- no apology or discount. We left cash and got out. Will never be back. Avoid at all costs. read more

Goldsteins Deli - Rock hard avocado and dirty omelette. - Delis Near Me - Kingston, Pennsylvania

A friend and I met here for lunch on a Wednesday. I had a French Dip and she had some kind of chicken sandwich. Both came with fresh cut fries, which were really good. We both enjoyed our sandwiches. I thought the French Dip could use a little more meat for the giant hoagie roll it's on though. Their selections of beers, ciders, etc for both take out and on their menu were great. They carry some really unique items I haven't seen around here. They also carry Rotunda Brewery beers, which is one of my favorites from Hershey, PA. Service was pretty good - it took a little bit to get our checks and then wait for her to come back to get our money. There is some parking behind the building, but there is also street parking. From our experience, we would definitely eat here again. read more

Food was amazing & , my waitress/ bartender was amazing which is pretty usual here -- however, the MOD / man working deli (beard and beanie) was unbelievably rude -- to the staff and to the business. When a tap runs out maybe he should try to train his staff on how to change it instead of going "I don't fucking know maybe it's empty" and maybe after his 5 cigarette breaks (that he takes at the front entrance so the whole place smells likes cigarettes) he should wash his hands instead of going and interacting with all the deli food, regardless of the gloves the smell WILL be present and WILL contaminate the food he is working with. As someone who has been and is manager certified in food safety this is completely unacceptable and EXTREMELY unsanitary and unacceptable. read more

This is the worst food I've had in a long time. Everything came all mixed in a cardboard box, I mean the meal was in a box. The meat was so fatty and undercooked that I through it out. The potatoes and eggs even tasted like grease. The French toast was some bread I could even recognize, and dry as a bone. If you want breakfast save yourself the trouble and go some where else. read more

Prior to going, we had only ordered take out/door dash from Goldsteins. We were surprised at how many tables they have inside! We each had an amazing soup, and both of our sandwiches were delicious. Service was great! Parking is tight - there are a few spots out back, the rest is street parking. Definitely will be back. read more

Hello there food believers. Today's show takes us to a little place located in Kingston Pa called Goldsteins Deli. I was just really in the mood for a good club sandwich. Now right off the bat I want to apologize for the audio. I was talking a little bit lower due to someone sitting right next to me and didn't want to bother anyone. Now It's nice to see a local deli opened on a Sunday. Now I got the ham and cheese club where they basically make to order, they cooked my bacon so when I got my sandwich it was hot and crispy. This was a very delicious sandwich, as you will see in the video it's a healthy packed club. I also ordered a side of macaroni salad which was made a little bit different from what I am use to, this was more dry, not super creamy however this had a delicious taste to it. Just stopped for lunch,ordered a pastrami club on rye and my wife ordered a turkey reuben, no seeds on rye and no sauerkraut. My sandwich came on white toast, my wifes came out on SEEDED rye! Sent it back and they put it on white toast WITH sauerkraut and greasy french fries.....cole slaw wasn't anything to write home a out. $37.50 for a terrible lunch......it used to be good, never again.. read more

An almost 6 month update: I tried this place again, and it just seems like they just can't get it right. I don't feel like writing an extensive review like last time, so I'll just show a picture of my 6 dollar burnt chips that were darker than the container, and they STILL thought it was okay to send them out. No quality control here which is sad because of the potential. read more

I went in yesterday for the first time, and ordered two sandwiches to go, one for then, and one for later. The second one was described this way on the menu: Chipotle Chicken & Avocado Melt Grilled chicken, Pepper Jack, and cheddar cheeses, avocado, fresh spinach, banana peppers, Roasted Red Peppers and chipotle mayo on grilled Sourdough Bread. $14.95+ What I got was a grilled chicken breast with no cheddar, no roasted red peppers, and NO avocado. The only reason I ordered the sandwich in the first place was for the promise of an avocado. It was in the title! For this, I paid $14.95, plus tax. Never again. The beer selection at the bar is good, though, so there's that. read more

OK first off to call this place a deli is laughable, it's a sub/ sandwich shop, not a deli! They use cold cuts not actual roasted turkey, real corn beef, or Pastrami! But where they excel is in their beer selection, and Strombolis and wings! The cheesesteak boli is delicious, as is the Deli Boli! Service is hit and miss, it gets busy, so you can sit at the bar with an empty beer glass for quite awhile, but overall it isn't horrible! I have had Deli all over the country, including the best of New York but I have to say this deli ranks up there with the best, and I'm not talking just in NE PA but all of the east cost. I just found them today and had one of THE best corned beef sandwiches I have ever had. To top it off the wheat bread they served it on was probably he best wheat bread I have ever had. I wish they were around the corner because I would be there 3 times a week. Hi, I am a previous employee. I've never been more disappointed to be apart of such a reckless environment, if you want to eat old food, or food made by people that i have never witnessed wash their hands, this is the place. I now can say i've worked with the bottom of the barrel. the owner snorts all of his money, and if you dare to call and ask for him, he will proceed to pretend he is not there. Within the first week i was informed that you are allowed to have sex in the owners office or the basement, where apparently is a bed. He has fired multiple employees and taken half their check claiming they have stolen or cost him money. When in reality he has been abusing his employees and blaming them for his own lack and inability to have integrity and a work ethic. read more

Goldstein's definitely isn't like the delicatessens I remember growing up on Long Island but it is significantly better than the typical sandwich shops you find in this area. They use quality brands for f cold cuts and have numerous cold sides. I was a little disappointed with their knishes but other than that I'm always happy with the quality of their sandwiches. They make an outstanding Ruben with nice cuts of corned beef, sauerkraut and Russian dressing. They also stock a large amount of craft beer as well as some unique hot sauces and mustards. They also make some very good breakfast sandwiches. read more

11/22/2022 Where do I start?. Let me say, i have had food from this place in the past that was good. unfortunately, that was then, this is now. This was a doordash order where i live 15 minutes from the deli. the food did arrive on time as projected by doordash. We ordered a caprese salad, a reuben with coleslaw and fries. Salad was of decent size thrown in the styrofoam container apparently in haste, but its a salad.. the sandwich is where the urge to review and share my experience with other unsuspecting potential customers comes in. basically a grilled meat and cheese sandwich . zero dressing on it, maybe 3 oz of pastrami ( 2 thin slices) and a slice of melted cheese. clearly used the two small ends of the loaf of bread. i literally asked my friend if i was being punked and laughed. one bite and in the bin it went.. waste of money. with all in it was almost $35 for a salad, a "sandwich" and cold fries. the coleslaw was in a 2 oz container. so that would have been 1 bite. it's a shame to see a place that had a great offering and reputation, destroy itself. Wilkes barre, there are far more options out there that actually want you to like their food.. stay away from goldsteins.. imho read more

Service was very slow, server seemed very confused. Ordered a hot pastrami on rye, pretty simple order, however I waited 20 minutes for the sandwich and there were only about a half dozen people in the place. They have a sandwich person behind the counter so I assumed that she would be making my sandwich, not so, the server brought the order to a back room through a dark hallway and 20 minutes later a guy brought it out and gave it to the sandwich maker, it sat there for a while and then the server picked it up and handed it to me, no napkins no utensils, no pickles no chips. There may have been 4 ounces of meat on the sandwich, meat was vey tough and rubbery had to have been some type of processed meat. Well I thought that I would give it a try to see if it was any better than the previous management, but no go. Live and learn. read more

After an hour and 5 minutes, and after receiving only the order my children placed, I asked to have my and my wife's order placed in Togo containers and for the check. I was told that they were making the order now and it would be taken off my bill. It still took 20 minutes to get our Togo orders and I had to remind them about the promise to take them off the bill. First time experience....Last time experience.... Feeling a little crabby today after I ordered the "Crab Cake" burger, which had NO crab cake on it. The disappointing sandwhich was supposed to have what they say to be an 8oz Grade A Slab of Beef (tasted like a burnt piece of rubber because the waitress never asked how I wanted it cooked), an egg over easy with extra eggshell, you got it, hollandaise sauce lots of it and a Non-existent Crab Cake. The bricoche bun was falling apart because the CHEF soaked it in hollandaise sauce prior to forgetting the Crab Cake. For a few bucks extra I got some ok french fries and some sour coleslaw. Mac and cheese bites were ok too. If you have money to waist, I highly recommend this restaurant. The fastest thing the wait staff did was get the check. You wanna a refill? Never heard of it. Visit #2 was a few days ago with my mom. It was great. For $9, I got the same breakfast as last time... a dinner plate filled with 2 slices of smoked ham, 4 pieces of bacon, a sausage patty, a pile of home fries (you can choose to have them with or w/o onions & green peppers... I opted for none), 2 eggs & 2 thick slices of toast. As delicious as the first time. My mom got an $8 special... corned beef Rubin on rye... & loved it. According to their online menu, it's a regular special. You can also choose pastrami or turkey instead. It came with 1/2 pickle... fries & coleslaw are $2 extra, but she's a slight eater so ate half & brought the other half home. She loved the coffee (that's because she's normally an instant coffee drinker, so anything brewed is a treat to her), but I'm an espresso snob, so it's barely passable to me. That's my only complaint besides the super dark interior... we sat at the bar cuz the tables in the back make me feel like I'd be sitting in a basement. I think table lights might be a nice touch. One very nice waitress even remembered when I was in several wks ago & mentioned I'd be back with my mother. Nice staff all around... some of the waitresses aren't as attentive... they're always busy chatting... so you have to interrupt for anything you need, like cream for coffee, a refill, your bill. Good to know: * There's a small parking lot in the back. It's a bit tough getting in & out of spots, but it's available if there aren't on-street spaces. * Breakfast is served 7-11am, but you can also order lunch items during that time. 5* out of 5. Upon ordering delivery today, all three of our items delivered were wrong. Not only were they wrong, but the items they delivered to us the second time around to "make it right" were rotten. The lettuce was black, slimy, old. The veggies were also old and slimy. Some of the chicken in the salads was hardly cooked. We ended up throwing the entire order in the garbage it was so bad. This place really needs to get it together. It used to be a favorite spot of ours. Still waiting for the manager to call us back. So disappointing. What a waste of money. Will not return. read more

Found this place a few years ago. Whenever I am in Kingston, this is my "go-to" spot.The food is simply outstanding. My favorites are the Funky Philly, Goldstein's special, and the three cheese steak jus. Soups are excellent, as are the desserts. I've been there dozens of times and have yet to be disappointed. Overpriced and not well prepared food. It is upsetting because this place has so much potential, but we are consistently disappointed when we go back. Our order of homemade chips with crabby seasoning was so over seasoned we actually returned it. We were then mocked by one of the employees because we couldn't "handle" the spice. However, that was not the case. We have had these chips many times, and this particular order had entirely too much seasoning. The pizza, which is usually a safe bet, was terrible. It was overcooked, and the sauce was not its usual sweet deliciousness. It tasted overwhelmingly of burnt garlic. The only redeeming item was a dozen wings with the red, white and blue sauce. I would recommend that wing sauce to anyone. It's great. All in all, it was another disappointing order. read more

Okay so.... the service at this place was unacceptable. Two waitresses walking around trying to figure out which way is left and which way is right. We sat for about 20 minutes before even being asked if we needed anything. I had to approach the bar and request menus for the table. The place wasn't even busy. I would like to see how they operate with a full house. The food came out rather quick but wasn't anything special. I ordered the large pretzel appetizer and parts of it were still frozen. My main meal was the drunken French dip it was okay but, rather tasteless. My buddy ordered the crab Benedict burger and they some how forgot the crab, not to mention he found egg shell in it too. Understandable, we all know how hard it is to crack an egg. I know this place is a well liked establishment in the Kingston area but we were not satisfied. read more

Don't waste your time or money on this place. In the past the food was good but not any longer. My $13.95 turkey reuben was inedible with dry, tough, brown turkey, no russian dressing a small glob of cheese on bread that was not even rye bread. It was thrown in the trash along with the coleslaw that was at least 2 days past being fresh. The only thing worse than the food was the manager that runs the place. She accused me of being rude because I said the sandwich was bad and questioned whether the deli had an experienced sandwich maker​ currently. She verbally abuse​d me on the phone when I asked for a refund several times or to have the owner call me. Both of which she refused. She dared me to fill out a review, so here it is. I used to love coming here before hockey games with friends but the past 4 times I've been here the service was slow for only having maybe 4-6 customers in the whole dining area. My recent experience today will be my last though. Service was slow as expected with 4 customers total. My food came out fine but my girlfriends on the other hand didn't. She took a bite out of her cheddar mac & cheese and instaly spit it out and told me to try it. All i did was smell it and knew better. IT WAS 100% SPOILED!! t's clear the management doesn't care anymore and you can tell by the horrible attitudes the constabtly show. I felt so sorry for our waitress because she seemed sweet and semi uncomfortable. She kept saying sorry over and over and we reassured her it wasn't her fault. This restaurant has turned into complete trash. Do not waste your time going there and spending your money. The food is always wrong and the employees scream and argue in front of customers. I've never seen such an unorganized place in my whole life. They don't appreciate anyone and will talk shit on anyone who walks through the door or works there. read more

One of the best parts of my week is walking here with my wife for dinner and a few brewski's. After a long week of work this has become my happy place on Friday or Saturday nights. Awesome beer selection, honestly they have really great beer options. Large menu. My wife and I usually get sandwiches and split the waffle fries. The service here is great. They are very attentive and chill. I probably like this place a lot more because it's walking distance from my place. If I had one suggestion it would be to turn the music up a little. Sometimes it's been so quiet you really just hear the white noise of the refrigerators running. Little too quiet. But all in all great food and beer options, great service. read more

The food is good but unfortunately, the service is horrible. We were the only one's in the place and it took, 40 minutes to receive our food and parts of it, were cold. One of the staff sat at the counter and continued to throw out, the "F" bomb. You do have good food you just need a manager that, will make sure that things run as they should. Horrible!!! That's all I have to say! Placed order and had to call back 2x to give payment information, the girl talking to us was super rude...and then 2 hours later delivery arrived...food was ice cold, and WRONG!!!!When I told them about it on Facebook dm they blocked me lol,. Anyone ordering for delivery don't have high expectations for this place! One time I went hear and I ordered a hoagie - and they gave me a little bit of meat and what appeared to be two handfuls of shredded lettuce. Now if you're a guy, or girl - who loves shredded lettuce. I mean piled high. Just handfuls and handfuls of crisp, semi-delicious lettuce. That just mask the taste of your entire sandwich. Lettuce, with hints of salami and pepperoni. Or maybe you like lettuce with the faint phantom presence of sliced turkey. You're going to want to check out Goldstien's. They have a great sign, a great vibe - many beers, where you can mix a six. Load up your six pack with real live beer from microbrews across the US. and other countries such as Germany (known for the good work Chancellor Angela Merkel has done all these years with making their economy the most envied in all the EU.) Maybe try a beer from Connecticut that might have a fancy picture of elephants fishing, or a dog in a raincoat talking to another dog in a raincoat - both smoking pipes - and under the dogs it says something like "Harris Brewery: Dog Day Stout." And why your at it - grab a hoagie - wrapped in classic parchment paper. Go home, crack open a beer - maybe from a small brewery in Norfolk - because Norfolk has to have a brewery right? And then indulge in that hoagie. All your friends are going to be envious as Greece is of Angela Merkel, but instead of a sound economy being the object their envy. It's all that lettuce. Lettuce they want, lettuce they may never get, unless they go Goldstiens. Also note: If you sit down to dine in, no one may ever wait on you. read more
