"No matter where I go I know where I came from…read more From the Bronx" (Jennifer Lopez) Trivia Time! Q: Name the only New York City borough that's part of the United States mainland? A: The Bronx! Besides Jennifer Lopez, the Bronx may be best known as the birthplace of Hip Hop music, Arthur Avenue Italian bakeries and grocery stores, Yankee Stadium and the NY Yankees. It sure looks like the owners of Oxford's ''The Bronx Deli" are Yankee fans, because their sandwich menu has over 20 choices named after Yankee stars or baseball in general, plus hundreds of NY Yankee photos on their wall. Some of the sandwich names are The Yogi with chicken and eggplant, The Babe with turkey and pepperoni, The O'Neill Deal with ham, sopressata, salami, and provolone, Bern Baby Burn with chicken, hot peppers and mozzarella, and the coolest one -Robbie Cano, Don't Ya Know with Roast Beef, American cheese and red peppers. We wanted to pick up something to have for dinner last night and decided on a Goodfella grinder ($10.99) with Eggplant, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, oil and garlic, and a side of tortellini salad with peppers and sun dried tomatoes. The grinder was terrific -a big loaf of perfect Arthur Avenue bread, plenty of fresh eggplant and mozzarella slices, and nice marinated red pepper slices. (Pro Tip - the Goodfella doesn't include marinara sauce -if you want that order an Eggplant Parmesan sandwich). The tortellini salad was very good as well, plenty of pasta and tomatoes in a balsamic dressing. Our grinder and side totalled just $17 -not bad for a dinner for two. We dealt with two employees. The young lady who rang us up was a sweetheart -super nice and much more engaging than the young man who made our sandwich. As a former Bronxite myself, I loved visiting the Bronx Deli and checking out the photos on the wall. My favorite was an autographed picture of Yankee royalty taken at an Old Timers Day -Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and Casey Stengel. All are Hall of Famers. Go check out the Bronx Deli if you're either a lover of Italian food, a Yankee fan, or both.

Five stars forever for the homerun grinder. It's my favorite hot grinder of all time. That is all.read more

The cinnamon rolls were a standout and truly lived up to the hype! I highly recommend having them warmed up before eating, as it makes them even better. So, with route guidance in hand, I ventured out to discover their offering. I was greeted by a bright smiling lass who directed me to 3 variations, plain, cheddar and rye. Decisions, decisions, decisions.... Elected to go with plain as this was to be an evaluation and comparison against other regional bakers. The loaf was dense and heavy. As soon as I get into the car, I had to sample. What a pleasant surprise, it was delicious... The texture was chewy and "sour" just the way it should be. No air holes or gaps. Subsequently, that evening, I made grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches using Gruyère cheese to complement the flavor of the bread.... Mindblower!! I give this a 5 star rating !! Enjoy !

The new space is bright, welcoming, and much more accessible to people who may have never discovered this hidden gem before. While I wondered if something would be lost leaving that small neighborhood setting behind, it didn't take long to realize the opposite. The owners, the staff, and the loyal customers have all brought the same warmth and sense of family with them. It still feels like home. I'll admit, though, I was crushed when I learned that Taylor Ham didn't make the move to the new menu. If you read my older reviews, that's actually what brought me through their doors in the first place. It genuinely broke my heart. But loyalty goes both ways. I love this place, so instead of dwelling on what isn't there, I'm making my way through the menu looking for a new favorite. Today I tried the Jalapeño Whopper--bacon, grilled jalapeños, and cream cheese on an everything bagel. It was really good. I discovered that warm cream cheese just isn't my thing, but that's 100% on me, not the sandwich. I also ordered the Gootz: sausage, egg, provolone, sautéed mushrooms, and cherry peppers on a garlic bagel. Outstanding. I'd order that again without hesitation. I'm going to keep working my way through the menu in hopes of finding something that fills the Taylor Ham-sized hole in my heart. And even if I never do, I'll happily keep coming back for their outstanding bagels, incredible spreads, great food, and the feeling you get every time you walk through the door. And while their coffee service is a little different with the pots behind the counter, it's still fantastic. Some places serve breakfast. DeRocco's feels like home.

We stopped in on a Thursday evening, and there was even live music that night. We have heard great things about the wings, and that's what we were here for! We tried five or six flavors and they were all cooked perfectly. Little crisp on the outside but juicy on the inside. My only complaint is that I would've preferred the sauced wings, a little saucier, but I know for next time to just ask for extra sauce. One flavor was on the milder side and wasn't my favorite, but it's also something that my husband picked out and I would not have ordered so we will let that one pass. Lol We did not sit at the bar, but our server was the bartender, and she was very helpful both in giving us information about the history of the family owned restaurant, and about wing sauces and food choices and she even made my husband a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, even though she said that is not on the menu and no one has asked that before. She was happy to put on a pair of gloves and stuff some olives for him.

Upon entering the place I see it was clean and the workers were super friendly and I told them that it was my first time ordering and they gave me a complimentary chocolate chip cookie for being the first ever to be at this Jersey Mike location, I find it really nice that they engage with new customers and make them feel like family. When I went the ambiance of the place was a great and the workers were serving customers, didn't hear any screaming or discomfort coming from anybody not even the customers, only smiles on their faces. Would I potentially go back to this location? Perhaps if I'm down for something different other than Subway because the Beacon Falls one always got my heart. But if you guys are in the Quarry Walk area give this place a try it's worth it especially if you are new customer and you state you are they will welcome you with a great warmth. -AJ

Upon walking in to order sandwiches, we overheard the owner yelling. "WELL, WE GOT RIPPED OFF…read moreAGAIN!" he was right at the front counter and began scolding the two employees as someone had come in and picked up the wrong order. He was angry to the point that you could feel it coming off of him. My daughter and I were both afraid to ask for anything special because he might've Flown off the handle at any moment. He continue to grill the employees on whose fault it was as he made our sandwich. It was then discovered that he was the one who had handed the bag to the wrong customer. Things got pretty quiet after that. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing, and we couldn't wait to get out of there as soon as possible. The food is good, but we've had a few order issues when we've done an online order and picked up food. My daughter has celiac and they gave her the wrong bread on her sandwich when we specifically asked for gluten-free and were charged an additional three dollars for the gluten-free bread. I will say upon our complaining to the store owner about the error on the online order, we did get a refund on that mixup and she did receive a coupon for a free sandwich as well. I do like the sandwiches but feel it's better to go in and order directly to avoid any errors. However, a little afraid of the angry man behind the counter. Not gonna lie.

I haven't tried any of their readily available pastries in their display case but I know I will one day. My matcha was around nine dollars, which is what I'd expect from a privately locally owned place like this. Worth it though, esp if you're hanging out for awhile and like great quality. I can see myself coming back one morning and hanging out with someone here. Also, HUGE fan of punk rock so blink 182 in the background is making me stay here until I have to go to my eye doctor appointment around the corner. I feel totally in my element.
