Enjoyed time with family at the old mining and ghost town. It's free to walk around the town and feel the vibe of a different time. While there you will see amazing views of Superstition Mountain and desert from different vantage points. There is a charge for the mine tour, zip line and train ride. We dropped by the local saloon for a drink and snack. Shared chips and adult beverages, had a great time listening to music. We were really comfortable with the atmosphere, the old west feel, boots hanging in the entry way for lost lives. Maybe the owners of of these boots are walking the town. The town has some cute little shops and other historic or reconstructed building. Worth driving out and spending part of a day there. While out in the area you can check out the desert park with hiking trails that will take you close to superstition Mountain read more

Even though my fiancé and I have resided in AZ for over a decade, we hadn't done the tours at Goldfield in all that time. However, this past month we decided to try something different for a date, and we were pleasantly surprised. Each attraction we went to had its own charm with lots of history that is presented by very knowledgable staff. On our last attraction of the day, the mystery shack, we had a very lively presenter by the name of Caretaker, who made the experience fun and interactive. Lastly, I highly recommend checking out the mines, as this was a highlight for us. read more

This place was fun! We took our kids 6 and under and they had a great time. They loved the train ride, were a little scared of the mine tour, and really enjoyed the mystery shack tour. The grill is reasonably priced but wish they had more seating. The ice cream shop is adorable. There are nice tourist shops too, some have cute stuff. It was a lot busier than I expected. Get there when things open. We got there at about 10:30 and left at 2. By 2, everything seemed packed and unfun at that point. Also go in fall to spring. Summer might cook you. read more

We have visited like 3 times now and every time we have had a good experience here. It's a bit crowded and everything has a good 20-30min of wait time. This place is perfect for photographs, with a beautiful backdrop of the superstitious mountains it's definitely worthy of the shot. The saloon is quite popular and was there since 1800's which is pretty impressive. The mine tours, zip line, train ride, mystery shack, the gun fight show, there's so much to see and do. You can definitely spend all day here and great for kids. The gun fight performance is a nice touch and the last show is at 4:00pm Overall a day well spent with lots of things to do. read more

I totally get the criticisms I've seen on here that everything costs money (the museum too?!), but they do not charge an entrance fee and the views are wonderful. We drove by the ghost town on the way to Dolly, we all discussed what we will visit on the way back. YES! What a cool way to immersive experience to the old wild west set in the 1890s. It was fun to visit, a lot of shops, free to walk around, there is a train ride, shows, and music on the dirt road. We are supposed for a Thursday, it was packed with people. Kids will love it here. Seeking something to do out of the house and soak up the sunshine, my grandparents suggested an afternoon in Goldfield Ghost Town. Located on the outskirts of Mesa, this hidden gem at the base of Superstition Mountain is truly one of a kind. A former thriving mining town, the town offers just about everything. A saloon + restaurant, shops, tours of the various mines and more! There are a handful of attractions too - like a train ride, ziplining, Apache trail tours, ghost tours and gold panning - so there is literally something for every type of tourist! The town is rich in history, is picturesque and has the perfect view of Superstition Mountain, which makes for one hell of a view! wow! Best part - it's free to enter! We opted to explore the grounds, tour the mining museum, pretend we were in the wild west, partake in a little shopping and ultimately decided on an ice-cold beverage at the saloon to round out the afternoon - which was the perfect way to capture the moment. The only drawback I will say the grounds aren't paved (primarily gravel) and there is a lot of uneven ground (and directly uphill = pretty steep!), so if you're not quick on your feet, it can be a little dangerous and/or require a little assistance. With that in mind, it's definitely not ideal for those with walkers or in wheelchairs - just FYI. Overall, what a fun little spot just outside Meza, AZ! read more

We came on here for a field trip with my son and the tour guide Jason was very mean to the kids. Yelling at them, hitting his cane on the walls to scare them and then laughing about it. He put his hands on the to rush them along. It was a terrible experience and our school will never be returning. Not to mention it was $25 per child to go plus $25 per chaperone. I have taken out-of-town guests here many times , as it is a cute little touristy place not that far away. It can get a little pricey with all of the optional activities, but at least there is no charge to park or enter the town. A huge damper was put on our day by Cowboy Dan, the bartender at the saloon. He puts on quite a show, but it was not at all appreciated when he told my 9-year-old-nephew not to listen to his teachers because they will tell him there is no God. My niece in a teaching moment gave her son the credit card to pay, and he jokingly said to Dan that he wanted to pay the posted old-timey 5 cent price for the beers. That's when Dan started railing against Biden for high prices and then praising tariffs. When my niece told him everyone was entitled to their own beliefs, he said "I'm talking to your son, not you!" We already did not appreciate the crude anti-Democratic signs behind the bar, but this was pretty much the last straw. My niece is a huge tipper (she left a $20 tip for a small lunch with her son at the airport to teach her son about appreciating good service.) Dan was on his way to earning the same, but ended up with $5 instead. read more

My review is through the lens of a senior citizen and may not reflect the reviews from many posts with young children. We visited this place for about 1.5 hours - whilst waiting for the gold mine tour, we visited the many tourist shops. As expected, the shops are loaded with things such as candy and garage sale (destined) stuff. The gold mine tour was entertaining and fully disappointing at the same time. FIRST, it's fake. It's an "above ground" gold mine - equipped with a fake elevator shaft, and fake walls in the gold mine, fully equipped with Air Conditioning. The guide is entertaining - the gold mine is FAKE. Just beware. It was worth a short visit - however, LOWER your expectations. read more

Tourist trap heaven! This isn't a true ghost town, it is a kitschy construct of old time-y-ness. As long as you temper your expectations to that, I think you will enjoy yourself. There are some ok restaurants and places to get a bite to eat. Every single thing costs something to do it. The mine tour, the mystery shack, the horseback riding, the bordello museum, the railroad, the reptile room. Some of that makes sense, but also....they are distressingly overpriced for what they actually offer. But again....if you have a good attitude about it and are ready for what you are getting in to and find paying $10 per person for a 10 minute walk through a fake optical illusion structure with a BS story behind it....you can have a good, weird time. It is fun and weird and silly and a distraction and can get really expensive. So be prepared. But have a sense of humor about it and have a good time. If you find yourself here you are here because you came here on purpose. Know what you are getting yourself in to and enjoy it! read more

Went there at a slow time so there were no gunfights or anything going on but heard those were interesting. A lot of little shops that were mostly different from each other so they were interesting to look through. Took the train ride which goes around the whole town and has a commentary which is interesting. I will say that everyone that was working the shops were very very nice. That was appreciated. I think out of all the things that I was excited to do visiting Arizona for the first time, coming to a ghost town was one that I was most excited for!! It's so fun to get to explore the and old 'Wild West' town, and Goldfield really lives up to that. You could almost think of this place as a mini park, which is totally free to enter! There are shops, restaurants, horse-back riding, zip-lining, gem mining.... You could almost spend an entire day here. There's even a full-functioning church that you can attend a mass at. We didn't eat here so I can't comment about the food, but they did have prickly pear lemonades that were to die for! (And paired great with the intense AZ heat...) The zip-lining was super cheap, and even played music while you rode! You can also go for another round at half the cost. We had such a great time here. It's about 40ish minutes outside of Phoenix, but totally worth the detour! read more

Where history meets fun. Goldfield Ghost Town has been restored to give visitors a taste of the old west. No fee to park or enter. Each experience is pay as you go. These experiences include a train tour, horse tour, shooting gallery, panning for gold and gem stones, and old time photos. Historic buildings now house various small businesses. Two restaurants and a coffee shop. In the old saloon is a steakhouse. Towards the front of the town is Miners Grill. Miners Grill is a quick service restaurant. We chose to eat there. Menu consists of sandwiches, burgers and hotdogs. The chicken sandwich, burgers and fries weren't just tourist attraction good, they were good. The chicken was tender and juicy. Sourdough was toasted to golden brown, and was not greasy. My kids enjoyed their burgers and grilled cheese. Fries were hot and freshly fried. Soft inside and lightly crisp on the outside. The only exception was the person who ordered the chicken strip said they were just okay. Many of those small businesses are souvenir shops. While there is some overlap, each store does a good job of having some unique items. Some more than others. We purchased a cactus from one store. They have a wide variety of small succulents. Succulents could be purchased a la carte, or as pre-made succulent gardens. There was even a creature your own option. The cactus we purchased sprouted flowers, and was blooming within a week of being planted. The Blue Nugget is another much visit shop. The Blue Nugget specializes in fossils and Native American jewelry. Their prices are some of the best in the town. A couple of the shops are more small art galleries. Art featured is created by local artists. Most art is available for purchase. Goldfield Ghost Town has points of interest for adults as much as they do for children. The proximity to Phoenix makes Goldfield an enjoyable day trip for locals and tourists alike. read more

He was wearing a t shirt with the bloody trump staged assassination attempt on the front and yelled at us when we didn't agree with his stance on deporting innocent Americans. Won't be back there. This place is so fun. We came on a Saturday a few weekends ago and had a lot of fun. It was perfect weather and it was crowded, but not too crowded. Our favorite part was seeing the pretend gun fight. It is by volunteers that do a free show (donations/tips accepted after the show) every hour on the hour. Well not every hour but I believe starting from 10am to 4pm (at least when we were there). We did the train ride which was more of a historical train ride. Honestly, it was hard to understand everything the tour guide was saying - he mumbled a lot. We still enjoyed it. We also did the mine tour which was really cool and our tour guide was awesome (I'm forgetting her name, but she was great). Then we did the mystery shack which was fun and made us a little dizzy haha. We ate ice cream which was yummy, but overpriced. We walked around some of the shops too. For lunch we ate at the saloon. It was a fun atmosphere, but the food was not that good and the customer service was eh. They messed up our order and still charged us for an extra order of something we never ordered.
