It's a beautiful place with a nice western town vibe. Has lot of cool gift shops, history, atmosphere and so much more. There is plenty to see and do and it's just got an amazing vibe to it. It's worth checking out for more history and exploration of Arizona and of course the gold mine. There is so much to see at the museum as well and the staff are extremely friendly. They have so much to offer and prove more of the interesting history of the mine. As well as make sure you are having a fun time exploring this fascinating ghost town. It is more than just an attraction, its like an experience worth checking out. I also like the museum the town has. Even though you have to pay between $5-$10 depending if you're an adult or a kid, it is still fun to check it out. And learn more of the legend of the mine that many have spent decades looking for. There is also a zip line near here too but because of the intense heat I did not think to give it a try the day I went here. In the end, this is a solid place to check out and go to. There is so much to see, amazing vibes, fantastic customer service, and overall just a fun place to check out.
Free parking, free admission. The ghost town was located half an hour from Mesa. Came on a weekday morning. There was a good amount of people roaming around. The town was located really close to the Lost Dutchman State Park. All of the shops had air conditioning which was nice. The cowboy hat shop was really cool. Saw some of the hats were $79. They have a saloon called the Mammoth worth checking out. They had a lot of cute attractions, such as gold panning, mine tour, zip lining, and railroad riding. Bought a pound of copper from the museum for $50. Apparently everything in the museum was tax free. Looked like they charge $1.50 for credit card, which was not mentioned nor were there obvious signs about the credit card usage fee. Admission to the cost $10 for 13 and up, $8 for 65 and up, $5 for 8 to 12, and free for those under 8. Really fun town to spend an hour or two. Lots of things to do for all ages. All the staff were friendly. Town was clean. Would return.
What a great stop! I was on my way to tortilla flats and turned around to stop and explore this little gem off the side of the road. They have everything from ice cream to sandwiches to a steak restaurant saloon to tattoos, ghost, mine and horseback riding tours. I was most excited to see an old town photo studio. What a fun experience! Definitely worth stopping! I had lunch at miners grill (blt) before exploring! The train tour was so cool! Tour guide Bruce was great and very funny! The mystical building was unreal. Be warned if you very motion sickness I got queasy! Matt at the mine tour was also great! Loved this so much I came back to hear the ghost tour by Michael! So good! I got lucky as I was the only one on the tour so I basically got it private tour and Michael's storytelling is off the chain! Love the multimedia to accent his stories. I'm actually going back next week and can't wait to take my mom. The ghosts tour was definitely the highlight of an already wonderful day!
There is plenty of things to do and see at the Goldfield Ghost Town located off highway 88 in Apache Junction. Free admission to walk around the town and explore but some attractions have a fee. You can take a train ride around the town, explore the underground mine, pan for gold, zip line, enjoy a wild west reenactment, see the history museum, grab lunch or a drink at the Mammoth restaurant, or just visit one of the many shops. There were lots of people there today despite the 102 degree temperatures. I suggest a hat and sunscreen if you decide to visit at this time of the year.
Goldfield ghost town is a fantastic place to visit nearby Phoenix metropolitan area. The place houses quite fascinating history, which is easy to capture for example during the train ride. The entrance is free, but some activities cost separately. Thereis a coffee shop and restaurant in the middle of the place, and a few shops for souvenirs and other items. The outdoor shows are great, too, althout it is a good idea to check the schedules beforehand as some special days may impact the calendars.
We had not been to this little Western ghost town before, but it has been at least 12-ish years. We decided to go visit the little ghost town (tourist site) and have an early dinner at the Saloon. This was actually a real mine and town back in the 1800s. We took the mine your, which was short, but interesting and informative. Made me glad was I wasn't a miner! We also took the haunted bordello tour. The bottom floor of the bordello is a gift shop, so we were only on the second floor, which is quite small. The pull the curtains to make the place dark, light a candle, and begin with the ghost accounts of the place. They hand out a couple of ghost hunting told, and take you to the two rooms where ghosts have been reported. It was fun! We also visited the mystery shack, which is a building built in two different angles so it looks like gravity is defied (water running toward, etc ). It was really fun, but kind of disorienting and kind of a workout. I almost feel twice. There are little shops with lots of Arizona-themed items (like paperweights with scorpions in them), cowboy hats and boots, and Western shirts. After going into all the shops, we went to the saloon for dinner. This place is very touristy, but we had a fun afternoon.
We stopped in to walk around and visit some of the little shops on our way through the area. We didn't do the ghost tour or mine tour, but may go back another time for those. There were quite a few people walking around the little town, perusing the goods in the shops along the way. We found some nice jewelry for a decent price and enjoyed talking to the workers in the stores. There are some food options as well.
This is a nice small place to walk around, go into the shops. Two things that I personally wouldn't to again, eat in the saloon and take the train ride. Both to expensive and not worth it in my eyes.
This is strictly a tourist spot. Great place to take the kids. They have fun fights on the weekends. They have stores and food available. Plenty of parking
This is what I would call a ghost town themed strip mall. It has a lot of old west themes and you can get everything from ice cream to cowboy hats here. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon and on the hour there is a "gunfight" in the middle of town that is put on by volunteers who are around the area in period clothing and gear. There's no fee to get in, and parking is pretty plentiful but it's a dirt parking lot, so if that's a problem you may want to skip it. It's also on a hilly area so again, plan ahead. Flip flops probably aren't a good choice if coming here. That being said, it's a good time and kids and adults will like it.
What a fun spot that was made even better by allowing our pups to join us for the fun. My friend and I were on a trip with our two senior dogs, a pug and a dachshund, and they enjoyed experiencing all the sights and sounds from the comfort of their stroller. We weren't able to do everything with the dogs but we were able to do enough. They watched the stunt show with us, got lunch at the Miner's Grill and browsed some of the shops.
Cool place to spend half a day or so. Zip line is cool, very safe. Took the train ride. It was ok, nothing special. The guide's microphone was going in and out so couldn't really get much info. Mine tour was full of interesting facts and info. Really enjoyed it. But the best experience was Mystery Shack! If you are there definitely visit it. Our guide was Ann super cool lady! Had coffee and quick bites from coffee shop very friendly stuff and good prices. If you have time pan some gold. Really good way of showing kids the definition of patience. Plus the location next to the breath taking mountains! read more
A fun day spent at Goldfield ghost town. Buy the 3 attraction tickets as it is worth it. You can get some great photos of the Superstition Mountains while riding the train. Everyone was very nice with a laid back attitude. Take a ride up highway 88 to tortilla flats and see some great scenery. Try the fudge as it is homemade and only $4. Enjoyed time with family at the old mining and ghost town. It's free to walk around the town and feel the vibe of a different time. While there you will see amazing views of Superstition Mountain and desert from different vantage points. There is a charge for the mine tour, zip line and train ride. We dropped by the local saloon for a drink and snack. Shared chips and adult beverages, had a great time listening to music. We were really comfortable with the atmosphere, the old west feel, boots hanging in the entry way for lost lives. Maybe the owners of of these boots are walking the town. The town has some cute little shops and other historic or reconstructed building. Worth driving out and spending part of a day there. While out in the area you can check out the desert park with hiking trails that will take you close to superstition Mountain read more

If there's even a chance a place is haunted, you can bet I'm there, ready to investigate (or at least spook myself for fun). This is a great spot to wander through old buildings and get a glimpse of life in the 1890s--minus the lack of indoor plumbing and questionable medical practices. Yes, it's a tourist trap, but it's the kind you don't mind falling into. There's plenty to do, from mine tours and railroad rides to zip-lining for those who like their history with a side of adrenaline. It's free to get in, but the attractions will cost you. My son and I took a ride on the railroad--$12 for me, $8 for him--and braved the zip line for $14 each. Worth every penny, even if my wallet is now the only thing feeling haunted. Bonus points for having a place to eat and, of course, a saloon--because nothing says "authentic Old West experience" like sipping a drink and pretending you're in a showdown (with the weekend crowds). Speaking of which, next time, I'm definitely coming on a weekday. read more

This was such a cool experience. I would visit again if I could. With time and opportunity I would have to go to another place to experience something new. The best part is that it is free. My family had such a good time!! The old school and church was my favorite. We are from Vegas. If I lived in Arizona, I would make visiting something regular for me. read more

I absolutely love this place!! It's worth the drive and worth every penny. It's really affordable too. The Mystery shack is my favorite! It's something out of the norm. I recommend it. They have cool gifts shops on spot too. I love having breakfast there- I recommend the breakfast sandwiches and their lattes. They also have a photoshoot spot- you can pick outfits and pose with your fam. read more

Always passed this on my way and from a run at work.. and finally was able to check this place out.. it's kind of like an old Tucson if you have been there.. they have shops and what not along with a "show every hour starting at 12" they also have a train ride you can take which tells you the little history about this place.. read more

We drove by the ghost town on the way to Dolly, we all discussed what we will visit on the way back. YES! What a cool way to immersive experience to the old wild west set in the 1890s. It was fun to visit, a lot of shops, free to walk around, there is a train ride, shows, and music on the dirt road. We are supposed for a Thursday, it was packed with people. Kids will love it here. They have something for everyone. Yes, it is a tour trap but it was still fun! read more

Tourist trap heaven! This isn't a true ghost town, it is a kitschy construct of old time-y-ness. As long as you temper your expectations to that, I think you will enjoy yourself. There are some ok restaurants and places to get a bite to eat. Every single thing costs something to do it. The mine tour, the mystery shack, the horseback riding, the bordello museum, the railroad, the reptile room. Some of that makes sense, but also....they are distressingly overpriced for what they actually offer. But again....if you have a good attitude about it and are ready for what you are getting in to and find paying $10 per person for a 10 minute walk through a fake optical illusion structure with a BS story behind it....you can have a good, weird time. It is fun and weird and silly and a distraction and can get really expensive. So be prepared. But have a sense of humor about it and have a good time. If you find yourself here you are here because you came here on purpose. Know what you are getting yourself in to and enjoy it! read more

I think out of all the things that I was excited to do visiting Arizona for the first time, coming to a ghost town was one that I was most excited for!! It's so fun to get to explore the and old 'Wild West' town, and Goldfield really lives up to that. You could almost think of this place as a mini park, which is totally free to enter! There are shops, restaurants, horse-back riding, zip-lining, gem mining.... You could almost spend an entire day here. There's even a full-functioning church that you can attend a mass at. We didn't eat here so I can't comment about the food, but they did have prickly pear lemonades that were to die for! (And paired great with the intense AZ heat...) The zip-lining was super cheap, and even played music while you rode! You can also go for another round at half the cost. We had such a great time here. It's about 40ish minutes outside of Phoenix, but totally worth the detour! read more

Wasn't easy to figure out where to buy the combo ticket when we arrived, so we just paid for individual tours (BTW: you get it at the Mine Tour booth). read more

Went here on a weekday, relatively busy but not overcrowded. My kids enjoyed the little train ride around the property. Lot's of cute little shops to browse through. Kind employees and actors everywhere. Also very educational. Beautiful scenery too. I also noticed a zipline on property. read more

Went there at a slow time so there were no gunfights or anything going on but heard those were interesting. A lot of little shops that were mostly different from each other so they were interesting to look through. Took the train ride which goes around the whole town and has a commentary which is interesting. I will say that everyone that was working the shops were very very nice. That was appreciated. Prices for everything were also reasonable as well. Didn't go in the mine tour or the zip line but heard from others that the mine tour was interesting. read more
Where history meets fun. Goldfield Ghost Town has been restored to give visitors a taste of the old west. No fee to park or enter. Each experience is pay as you go. These experiences include a train tour, horse tour, shooting gallery, panning for gold and gem stones, and old time photos. Historic buildings now house various small businesses. Two restaurants and a coffee shop. In the old saloon is a steakhouse. Towards the front of the town is Miners Grill. Miners Grill is a quick service restaurant. We chose to eat there. Menu consists of sandwiches, burgers and hotdogs. The chicken sandwich, burgers and fries weren't just tourist attraction good, they were good. The chicken was tender and juicy. Sourdough was toasted to golden brown, and was not greasy. My kids enjoyed their burgers and grilled cheese. Fries were hot and freshly fried. Soft inside and lightly crisp on the outside. The only exception was the person who ordered the chicken strip said they were just okay. Many of those small businesses are souvenir shops. While there is some overlap, each store does a good job of having some unique items. Some more than others. We purchased a cactus from one store. They have a wide variety of small succulents. Succulents could be purchased a la carte, or as pre-made succulent gardens. There was even a creature your own option. The cactus we purchased sprouted flowers, and was blooming within a week of being planted. The Blue Nugget is another much visit shop. The Blue Nugget specializes in fossils and Native American jewelry. Their prices are some of the best in the town. A couple of the shops are more small art galleries. Art featured is created by local artists. Most art is available for purchase. Goldfield Ghost Town has points of interest for adults as much as they do for children. The proximity to Phoenix makes Goldfield an enjoyable day trip for locals and tourists alike. read more

Great experience!! Go back in time! Saloon, brothel, jail and every hour-some kind of shootout! 99% volunteers work for tips but will make time to share and explain the ole west! Easy parking, kid and pet friendly. Those with mobility issues may want to think twice. Food and beverages are appropriately priced. Portions too. Super scenic. Cute stores and chapel holds services on Sundays. read more

This place is so fun. We came on a Saturday a few weekends ago and had a lot of fun. It was perfect weather and it was crowded, but not too crowded. Our favorite part was seeing the pretend gun fight. It is by volunteers that do a free show (donations/tips accepted after the show) every hour on the hour. Well not every hour but I believe starting from 10am to 4pm (at least when we were there). We did the train ride which was more of a historical train ride. Honestly, it was hard to understand everything the tour guide was saying - he mumbled a lot. We still enjoyed it. We also did the mine tour which was really cool and our tour guide was awesome (I'm forgetting her name, but she was great). Then we did the mystery shack which was fun and made us a little dizzy haha. We ate ice cream which was yummy, but overpriced. We walked around some of the shops too. For lunch we ate at the saloon. It was a fun atmosphere, but the food was not that good and the customer service was eh. They messed up our order and still charged us for an extra order of something we never ordered.
