It's a beautiful place with a nice western town vibe. Has lot of cool gift shops, history, atmosphere and so much more. There is plenty to see and do and it's just got an amazing vibe to it. It's worth checking out for more history and exploration of Arizona and of course the gold mine. There is so much to see at the museum as well and the staff are extremely friendly. They have so much to offer and prove more of the interesting history of the mine. As well as make sure you are having a fun time exploring this fascinating ghost town. It is more than just an attraction, its like an experience worth checking out. I also like the museum the town has. Even though you have to pay between $5-$10 depending if you're an adult or a kid, it is still fun to check it out. And learn more of the legend of the mine that many have spent decades looking for. There is also a zip line near here too but because of the intense heat I did not think to give it a try the day I went here. In the end, this is a solid place to check out and go to. There is so much to see, amazing vibes, fantastic customer service, and overall just a fun place to check out.
Free parking, free admission. The ghost town was located half an hour from Mesa. Came on a weekday morning. There was a good amount of people roaming around. The town was located really close to the Lost Dutchman State Park. All of the shops had air conditioning which was nice. The cowboy hat shop was really cool. Saw some of the hats were $79. They have a saloon called the Mammoth worth checking out. They had a lot of cute attractions, such as gold panning, mine tour, zip lining, and railroad riding. Bought a pound of copper from the museum for $50. Apparently everything in the museum was tax free. Looked like they charge $1.50 for credit card, which was not mentioned nor were there obvious signs about the credit card usage fee. Admission to the cost $10 for 13 and up, $8 for 65 and up, $5 for 8 to 12, and free for those under 8. Really fun town to spend an hour or two. Lots of things to do for all ages. All the staff were friendly. Town was clean. Would return.
What a great stop! I was on my way to tortilla flats and turned around to stop and explore this little gem off the side of the road. They have everything from ice cream to sandwiches to a steak restaurant saloon to tattoos, ghost, mine and horseback riding tours. I was most excited to see an old town photo studio. What a fun experience! Definitely worth stopping! I had lunch at miners grill (blt) before exploring! The train tour was so cool! Tour guide Bruce was great and very funny! The mystical building was unreal. Be warned if you very motion sickness I got queasy! Matt at the mine tour was also great! Loved this so much I came back to hear the ghost tour by Michael! So good! I got lucky as I was the only one on the tour so I basically got it private tour and Michael's storytelling is off the chain! Love the multimedia to accent his stories. I'm actually going back next week and can't wait to take my mom. The ghosts tour was definitely the highlight of an already wonderful day!
There is plenty of things to do and see at the Goldfield Ghost Town located off highway 88 in Apache Junction. Free admission to walk around the town and explore but some attractions have a fee. You can take a train ride around the town, explore the underground mine, pan for gold, zip line, enjoy a wild west reenactment, see the history museum, grab lunch or a drink at the Mammoth restaurant, or just visit one of the many shops. There were lots of people there today despite the 102 degree temperatures. I suggest a hat and sunscreen if you decide to visit at this time of the year.
Goldfield ghost town is a fantastic place to visit nearby Phoenix metropolitan area. The place houses quite fascinating history, which is easy to capture for example during the train ride. The entrance is free, but some activities cost separately. Thereis a coffee shop and restaurant in the middle of the place, and a few shops for souvenirs and other items. The outdoor shows are great, too, althout it is a good idea to check the schedules beforehand as some special days may impact the calendars.
We had not been to this little Western ghost town before, but it has been at least 12-ish years. We decided to go visit the little ghost town (tourist site) and have an early dinner at the Saloon. This was actually a real mine and town back in the 1800s. We took the mine your, which was short, but interesting and informative. Made me glad was I wasn't a miner! We also took the haunted bordello tour. The bottom floor of the bordello is a gift shop, so we were only on the second floor, which is quite small. The pull the curtains to make the place dark, light a candle, and begin with the ghost accounts of the place. They hand out a couple of ghost hunting told, and take you to the two rooms where ghosts have been reported. It was fun! We also visited the mystery shack, which is a building built in two different angles so it looks like gravity is defied (water running toward, etc ). It was really fun, but kind of disorienting and kind of a workout. I almost feel twice. There are little shops with lots of Arizona-themed items (like paperweights with scorpions in them), cowboy hats and boots, and Western shirts. After going into all the shops, we went to the saloon for dinner. This place is very touristy, but we had a fun afternoon.
We stopped in to walk around and visit some of the little shops on our way through the area. We didn't do the ghost tour or mine tour, but may go back another time for those. There were quite a few people walking around the little town, perusing the goods in the shops along the way. We found some nice jewelry for a decent price and enjoyed talking to the workers in the stores. There are some food options as well.
This is a nice small place to walk around, go into the shops. Two things that I personally wouldn't to again, eat in the saloon and take the train ride. Both to expensive and not worth it in my eyes.
This is strictly a tourist spot. Great place to take the kids. They have fun fights on the weekends. They have stores and food available. Plenty of parking
This is what I would call a ghost town themed strip mall. It has a lot of old west themes and you can get everything from ice cream to cowboy hats here. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon and on the hour there is a "gunfight" in the middle of town that is put on by volunteers who are around the area in period clothing and gear. There's no fee to get in, and parking is pretty plentiful but it's a dirt parking lot, so if that's a problem you may want to skip it. It's also on a hilly area so again, plan ahead. Flip flops probably aren't a good choice if coming here. That being said, it's a good time and kids and adults will like it.
What a fun spot that was made even better by allowing our pups to join us for the fun. My friend and I were on a trip with our two senior dogs, a pug and a dachshund, and they enjoyed experiencing all the sights and sounds from the comfort of their stroller. We weren't able to do everything with the dogs but we were able to do enough. They watched the stunt show with us, got lunch at the Miner's Grill and browsed some of the shops.
Anytime I have friends or family visiting from our of town this is a must. They do a fun show, mine tour, mystery shack, zip line, jeep tours, horseback rides, railway, cemetary, restaurant, museum, tattoo parlor, shops and a church. Pay for the Trio Pass!! The scenery is breathtaking any where you look!! Staff in every place is super nice and willing to give you the history of this place. Visit the Lost Dutchman Museum which is just down the road from here, also. read more
I am really into experiences and areas with history and Goldfield Ghost Town has both of those checked off! They have more than few shops to get into too. I definitely recommend looking at the museum. On the account of rain, we had to leave in a hurry and couldn't enjoy walking around more. I'm really impressed with the firetruck there. Our current modern ones are so large in comparison to what it used to be. There's an opportunity to take a train around the mine for a historical tour and even visit the mine itself which we didn't get to do. read more
Since a kid, I've periodically visited Goldfield Ghost Town. When we have family visit from England, this is often a destination to visit as well. When the weather is cooler (November - February), this place is gorgeous to walk around and also take in the views of the Superstition Mountains. It's on my radar to return as I enjoy the restaurants, shops, and scenery. I think it would be a great date day with my boyfriend who has never been. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area! read more

This was a great experience. All the old buildings are gift shops; however you get the feel of an old ghost town. The guys were fantastic for the mine and the train ride. So much history I would definitely go back. read more

This place is pretty cute for a short stop. We came with the expectation and knowledge this place was built as a tourist attraction. There's food options, cute gift shops, and a short show that happens every few hours. It was worth the stop since we weren't far away but I wouldn't drive over an hour to visit per se. Saw some riding horses, the train, and playing at the arcade. We didn't spend any money at all so it was a fun hour and quick visit. read more

Definitely one of my favorite day trips! Such a fun place to visit with the family. They do a great job at making you feel like you've been teleported to the past, and the views of the desert are absolutely amazing. I recommend walking around the whole town and checking out all the attractions they have, my personal favorite was the zip-line! read more
When you're in the desert, you might as well visit a Ghost Town. What I love about this is it is free to explore. There are so many buildings to see such as a church, museum, alpine slide and a store that provides everything you would want for a souvenir. I highly recommend trying the prickly pear lemonade. It was the perfect drink to help with the Arizona heat. This was the perfect addition to my trip to Phoenix read more
This was a great find while traveling in AZ. We got there just after they opened for the day. It's pretty much self guided but there are folks around tht will help or answer questions. We got to meet Bob the proclaimed mayor. Quite a gruff character but also very nice. We took the train ride around the place plus walked all around. Great place for photos of which I took a lot. Great place to take the family. Didn't see anything close to a ghost but it was still fun wondering around. read more

This was such a cool and unique place to visit. I'm from Florida and it's not often I get to visit a ghost town. Maybe it was a little over the top but I thought the theming was awesome. It is completely free to enter and just walk around. However, you had the option to do other activities or eat at the saloon or grill. We did the mine tour, which was pretty boring and why I take off one star. The food and ice cream at the miners grill was really good and decently priced. I would recommend getting there right at opening as it wasn't crowded and let us get some cool pictures of the saloon with no people in our pictures. It got really crowded around noon. read more

Brought my family from out of town here and we all had a great time! I had never visited so I didn't know what to expect but was blown away by how unique this place is. It was pretty busy and we circled the lot a few times for a parking spot. Once we parked, we headed on in. We purchased tickets for the mine tour, train ride, and the sideways house and my cousins also opted in for the zip lining. The mine tour was informative and the guide kept us informed. The train ride was also informative and very scenic as the views of the Superstition Mountains are breathtaking. The sideways house was ehh not worth it in my opinion. The gun show was fun and pretty entertaining. We stopped by a few of the shops and all the workers we interacted with were nice. We got ourselves some ice cream and it was really good. There were plenty of places to sit at and a lot of people watching to be done. Overall we had fun and we spent almost all day there. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Had so much fun didn't have to soend money to go here but I did of course the many cute souvenier shops how could I not??? We ate Lunch at the Miners Grill it was nice and cheap despite the long line we didnt wait too long. I can't wait to come back here and maybe do the mine tour and train ride if it was less windy had to keep cleaning dust off my lens. I really enjoyed it and so did my Aunt and Grandma. read more

We had such a great time at this amazing attraction that is a DO NOT MISS in my book! We took a tour of a make shift mine to see what it was like for the prospectors search for the infamous gold during the rush. Our tour guide Callan I think was her name was so informative and really helped to put us in the shoes of the miners. I even caught what I believed to be a ghost photo of an orb floating down in the mines. What do you think? Either way do not miss out on this attraction if you find yourself in this area read more
This is an interesting tourist attraction. They've got plenty of buildings to check out, gift shops, food, etc. They also have attractions such as museums and gold mine shaft tour. It's pretty fun, expect to be here for at least 2 hours. read more

Cute town to stop by. We've eaten at the restaurant before and it wasn't bad! There was live music. Were charged a mandatory gratuity when we went to lunch for 4 adults and 3 babies for a "large party"--babies didn't get any food since they're babies lol... so we were kind of frustrated with that. Came back again to do old timey photos. Weren't bad priced at all. You get the option to dress western or old gangster with different props and sets. Costumes for all ages and sizes. The little shops are super cute inside. We got a hat from the hat shop at the entrance. Not huge by any means but fun for sure! read more
Not much to see or do. All the open buildings were restaurants and shops. Couldn't go inside the church or jail. They charge for everything extra. The buildings looked neat but this was definitely not worth the trip from Phoenix to see. read more

If you love Ghost Towns it's a fun stop. If you live in Arizona you should be able to say you've at-least visited once. I remember coming here as a teenager and loved it. Of course that was a very long time ago. To see it as an adult brought some nostalgia back, but also realizing it's all fake and redone as a tourist attraction. Of course the town was real, mining was done nearby, but no original building exist. It's fun to walk around and check out different buildings (mine was the chapel), but we were done within 45 minutes. Prices are steep for most items. If you're into this type of thing it's worth the stop. read more

I've lived in Arizona now for almost 9 years and this was the first time that I was able to get here to the Goldfield Ghost Town and considering that I'm from Southern California originally I wasn't super impressed from the other Ghost Towns that I've been to. Now the pro of coming here they don't charge you for admission or parking but I'm sure that's going to be next. The bathroom at the Mammoth restaurant was so filthy with dirty diapers on the floor I'm honestly glad that we didn't eat there. They make up the cost on souvenirs, food and the attractions. Now I honestly have to admit the employees in the stores were friendly and polite but honestly Pioneer Town or Calico is the same concept. So it wasn't a bad experience it just wasn't for me. read more

Worth an afternoon trip! The saloon was closed the day we went which was disappointing, but we took a $5 tour of the bordello. That was interesting (and it is family friendly, so it's ok to take the kids in) the mystery shack was a lot of fun. So was the train ride around the town. I went here with my husband last weekend after finding it on a scratch off Arizona adventure card. We had never heard about this place so it was really cool to explore it. It reminded me a lot of 'old Tucson' in Tucson Arizona, but maybe on a larger scale (I can't remember I haven't been there in a while). Anyway, we did the combo tour which was $30 for three things: the mining tour, the mystery shack, and the train ride. We got there shortly after the site opened around 11 AM & when we got there, it was really a ghost town, barely anyone around. However, after we finished all of the three tours which lasted roughly an hour the town was packed. They do shootout shows every hour on the town site, which people gather to see. They're pretty short-lived probably only five minutes or so. There's a lot of of different shops to look at which was cool, but it was honestly so many people visiting that it was difficult to navigate around crowds and people which kind of took away from the experience. It was still a really cool day getting to learn a new place and the tour guides from the mystery shack (with the caregiver) to the mining tour (Nate I think it was) were amazing. He gave such great information and was fun as well! There was also a man in the fudge section of the general store with amazing customer service. The woman in the hat store also was very helpful when we first got there. I was very impressed with this place. I would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Surprisingly busy and jolly for a ghost town. Family friendly pitstop although most attractions required additional entry fees. The parking lot was free and most crowded at noon. The buildings were rustic but clean. The entire town took a few minutes to completely traverse with a notable prison and church in between. There were free gunfight shows every hour from 12-4PM. Otherwise there were tours, museums, and mining for additional costs. I wanted to visit the reptile museum but it was unfortunately closed for the day. The railroad and mine tours seemed to have the most traction while the other exhibits were ignored. The mine tour was short but I enjoyed hearing about the town's background and mine recreation. It was worth the $12 adult entry fee for 30 minutes of entertainment. Zip lining, horseback riding, and longer tours were also available although it wasn't as easily accessible from the main town. There was a saloon, coffee shop and ice cream shop for refreshments. Most the exhibits had entry fees of $12 or less with cheaper prices for children. Goldfield Ghost Town is best for families, especially with the gold panning, mystery shack and railroad. I don't regret stopping by but the experience seemed more entertaining for a younger crowd. I wished the website was more up to date and the stores were more consistent with their hours. The gift shop was a bit expensive and knick knacks weren't memorable. If this spot happens to be on the road, I'd stop by but I wouldn't drive out to experience the town. read more

Tourist attraction a bit off the beaten path, but scenic Superstition Mountains and historic sights make this a good outing. Free parking, no admission fee, but some attractions have charges. Numerous shops and stores with interesting merchandise, much of it locally sourced. A fun day trip back in time! read more
