Natalie and Ilene at Golden String have exceeded my fiancé's and my expectations when it came to creating my engagement ring. We came across their business via IG on Oct 2024. I fell in love with one of their settings that was in between a pavé band and solitaire band. Making an appointment was seamless and easy. We were able to look at various stones during the appointment. Initially I fell in love with an oval diamond and my fiancé was able to purchase on the spot at a decent price. A few months later, right before my fiancé was going to propose to me, I ended up realizing that the oval cut wasn't for me. My fiancé quickly reached out to Natalie and set a quick appointment to look at cushion cuts. I ended up with their very last antique cushion cut in stock, and it was an upgrade in color, clarity and carat. Of course there was a small exchange fee for the diamond as they had to reset the entire basket for the new cushion cut, but they were so accommodating and always put my happiness first. We are just recently engaged as of last week and I can't stop staring at my ring. It is truly everything I wanted.

If I could give Golden String 10 stars, I would!!! We had looked around at a few other places before finding Golden String through a friend, and I'm SO happy we did. From the first phone call, I knew this would be the perfect team to take care of something as important as an engagement ring. I first spoke with Eileen on the phone and she was immediately helpful and clearly answered all the initial questions I had before helping me schedule an in-person consultation. At our first in-person consultation, we met with Eileen and met Natalie and Victor towards the end too. They were all extremely warm, kind, welcoming, attentive and really helped us through the process. She had everything prepared that we had spoken about on the phone for me to try, and just made the process so seamless and FUN. After that consultation, they stayed in close contact with my fiancé to finish designing and creating my DREAAAMMMMM engagement ring (and wedding band). I couldn't be happier or more grateful for how it all turned out!!! The cherry on top... it was all at a great, very reasonable price. Every step of the process, you can really tell this family loves what they do and care about their craft and their clients. Could not recommend them enough. 10/10! Golden String is an amazing family owned business. I found them initially on instagram and loved the esthetic of their rings but was skeptical because it almost looked to good to be true. Well let me tell you it was even better then the pictures and videos i saw. The ring my fiancé got for me is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. Made with absolute precision and undoubtably with love. You can see the care and attention to detail. I've been assisting my cousin in looking for a jeweler for his soon-to-be fiance. He told me working with Natalie and Golden String was amazing and made the entire experience so reassuring, fun and comfortable throughout the process. She is extremely knowledgeable and detailed, and provided quality photos/videos of diamond options in various sizes, quality and prices based on his criteria and budget. Their photos are always taken with great lighting, so we can clearly see what the diamonds look like since all of our conversations were done virtually. As someone who did not have much knowledge in shopping for diamonds the experience I had with Golden String was unmatched. They took the time to get to know my background and asked a ton of questions about my, now fiancés, personality. I did not bring my fiancé as she wished to be surprised and put trust in me to find the right Diamond for her. So... the pressure was on! Normally when I shop for anything I go to multiple places, shop around, etc. My mom, who I brought with me, and I looked at each other once we had everything picked out and decided "nope, we are done" knowing that we were not going to find better value or experience. 1000 percent recommend. P.S. They are located in a showroom with about 15-20 other Diamond dealers. Their counter was the only one overflowing with customers. I'm just saying... read more

We went to Golden String on the recommendation of a friend who designed her engagement ring here and raved about Vic's honesty, charm, and knowledge. She definitely led us to the right guy! Vic was friendly, open, and patient with our questions, and he went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with what we got. We ended up finding a wedding band that perfectly fit with my unusual engagement ring, and Vic even surprised us by including bigger diamonds when we came to pick it up. We also trusted Vic to engrave both of our wedding bands, which was a big deal because my husband's wedding band had originally been his grandfather's and had engraving that we wanted to preserve. My husband and I decided to elope while on vacation, very spontaneously, about 6 months ago. At the time, it was just too overwhelming to shop for an engagement ring on short notice, in a foreign country, where we didn't speak the language - so we decided that I would design my "dream ring" when we returned home to Vancouver, Canada. I searched high and low for a vendor in Canada, who could bring my vision to reality, but found them all to be very overpriced, or not flexible enough to custom design it the way I wanted... until I found Natalie at Golden String in LA! She did not hesitate to hop on a phone call with me (might I add - for a 45 minute conversation!) and I knew right away she was the best person for the job. She is knowledgeable about diamonds and takes deep pride in her work. She actually made the whole process feel effortless and super fun with regular updates on the ring and photos along the way. Dealing with Natalie between Canada and the US was not a problem at all. Communication was seamless throughout and I am absolutely OBSESSED with how the ring turned out! Visit Vic @ Golden String! Before I met Vic, I had absolutely zero knowledge on engagement rings. But when I paid him a visit, he greeted me warmly, and asked me a few preliminary questions--what kind of stone I was looking for, what my estimated budget was, etc. I expected these questions from him, and was ready to answer them. However, what took me off guard was that he asked questions about my soon-to-be fiancé. What is she like? What do I love about her? What kind of person is she? I was NOT expecting to be asked these questions, but my answers ultimately helped him guide the types of rings he showed me. The biggest thing I loved about working with Vic is that he explained EVERY thing to me, answered any questions I had (no matter how stupid they were in hindsight), and was extremely transparent with the rings he showed me--such as what I could add/remove from the ring to get within my budget. On top of all that, he never put me under ANY pressure to buy whatsoever. Trust is a big deal to me, and that right there earned my trust. At the end of the day, Vic made what was seemingly going to be a stressful shopping experience into a positive, enjoyable one. THANK YOU VIC! We will be back for our future jewelry needs! read more

My husband got my engagement ring here and we also got our wedding bands here. Best jeweler! So friendly! A small diamond fell out of one of my bands (not their fault) and they fixed it very fast. They also were able to figure out that due to a missing bracket the diamond only fell out due to the ring being caught on something. I will only go here for my jewelry needs. I just wish they carried children's jewelry so we can get some things for my daughter. read more

Vic and Natalie are the dream team. I had a ring designed by Golden String a few years ago and brought my bf in when he was ready to ring shop. I have been a Golden String customer for over 20 years. I have never found another jewelry store on par with Golden String, though I have visited most of the jewelry stores in the area. Their service and craftsmanship is second to none. Golden String has truly earned their reputation for excellence in the industry with their unique designs and top-quality diamonds. As a birthday and belated graduation gift, my mother wanted to take me to get some loose family diamonds set in a ring for me and I did not imagine it going as well as it did. I thought that there was no way we could find a setting that hit everything I wanted. I didn't want it to look like an engagement ring, I wanted it to be dainty but also have a vintage look to it, and I wanted it to be unique to me. Natalie and Vic were incredible with their attention to detail and creativity. They understood the importance of getting it right and the significance of the diamonds we were using. We bring in our rings to get them checked out every once in a while and if something doesn't look right or something needs to be tightened up/fixed Vic is so quick and professional about it. I lost a diamond from my band and he immediately replaced it at no cost to me, also always takes the time to clean your jewelry while you're there. Please keep in mind, at the time of the quote, gold was valued at $5100 per ounce and when I visited, it dropped to $4600 per ounce. I came in, and was told it would be $400-$450 because my total carat weight was in actuality 1.58. I let them know about the estimate I received, to which she angrily said, this is why I hate it when they do online quotes, because people don't know what sizes they have. And then she also got upset because she doesn't know who gave me the quote because of the way Yelp profiles are set up. My mistake for the sizing, but it's not even a full 1/10th of a carat weight. An extra $100 for 0.08. I would understand an increase relative to the weight, had it been 2 total carat weight, that's completely reasonable at half a carat per $100. She said it costs $200 to source the settings, and it doesn't include the labor to polish and clean the item. She started stuttering when she was trying to justify the pricing, so I knew she was lying. A quick google search tells you differently, and they have access to warehouse pricing, so let's be real, she chose to arbitrarily charge more because she felt like it. I left and went with another local jeweler, where they gave me the exact same setting for $300. Don't take what they tell you at face value, do your own research, and make sure you don't get swindled by this business trying to take advantage because they think you don't know any better.

In literally 1-2 minutes cash was in hand for karats and weight at the current market price. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Tung, go with confidence. Another lesson I'll pass to newbies: Weigh your gold prior to going to the melter, a sloppy melter can splatter the metal during the melting. Not saying it's intentional, but it's better if they know that you know the exact weight before they melt it.... Word to the wise.

I'll never shop at another jeweler again! To say that I had an amazing experience with Golden String would be a gross understatement. My fiancé purchased my ring with GS in 2022. Unfortunately, I lost my ring and I was absolutely heartbroken. While it was insured, it was an uphill battle working with the insurance agency. However, Natalie walked me through every step. She assisted me throughout every single step and gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed whilst going back and forth with the insurance agency. Not only that, she was able to recreate my ring for me! She still had all of our documents and ring specifications and even gave me an INCREDIBLY fair rate for an upgraded carat size. My girlfriend and I are planning our engagement in a couple of months. I promised her that for the new year I would take her ring shopping to wherever she wanted. She found Golden String on Instagram and we decided to give their physical location a visit. After driving for more then 45 minutes, and seeing that they are open during the week, which my girlfriend confirmed by looking online at their hours, we arrived and no one was there. The shop wasn't open and no one was present to help. We saw other vendors in the area but Golden String was the one she wanted to shop at originally. It's very unprofessional and inconvenient to not update your hours online or find a way to at least communicate with clients, in which people can see if the store is open or closed. Especially in my case since I'm not native to LA. Vic is very very friendly and honest. I felt like I could trust him from the very beginning, but that didn't mean that he lost any professional edge. He was very knowledgeable and a 3rd generation jeweler. I had the stone, he made a custom piece in less than a week and the ring is absolutely perfect.
