But when I paid him a visit, he greeted me warmly, and asked me a few preliminary questions--what kind of stone I was looking for, what my estimated budget was, etc. I expected these questions from him, and was ready to answer them. My soon to be fiancé and I are so GRATEFUL to Vic and his family for their amazing craftsmanship on my STUNNING engagement ring! I can't say enough good things about them and I really feel blessed that we found such caring, genuine, knowledgeable people to help us with such an important event in our life! I have insanely high standards for my dream ring and I honestly was a little pessimistic because I didn't think I would ever find a jeweler that would be able to produce exactly what I wanted. What I wanted was a HUGE rectangle shaped diamond, at least 4 carats, with perfect 90 degree angles, that looked like one big stone when you put it on. I told Vic I wanted something OFFENSIVE! We stumbled upon Vic's place when we were scouring jewelers downtown. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Vic's super sweet daughter who really can be credited for keeping us there long enough to talk to Vic. The second Vic started speaking with us I felt an instant comfort that I hadn't gotten from any other place. There was NO pushy selling...NONE! Only quality information about what I needed to look for in a diamond, the cut, the clarity, the imperfections, the color. I knew virtually nothing about diamonds so his knowledge was invaluable. After telling Vic what I wanted he went right to work, finding me several different stones to look at and compare. Each weekend we visited with him and he asked questions. What shape I want, what's important to me in the ring, the carats, the side stones, etc. The most important thing is that Vic LISTENS to you....he's very good at visualizing exactly what you're trying to communicate to him. Last week we purchased the ring and I saw it for the first time. I have to tell you, the pictures do it NO justice! This ring is the shiniest, most brilliant ring I've ever put on my hand! It's PERFECT! It's the exact shape and carat I wanted, at the price my boyfriend wanted! The whole process was so smooth I think I'm still in shock. NEVER in a million years did I think it would be this easy. And I know it probably wouldn't have been if we didn't luck out by going with Vic! I highly urge you to go to Vic and his family. I told the guy "this is a poor stone and not worth what you're trying to charge us." Plus he told us nothing about it other than, "this is the only one this size in LA, you don't need to look anywhere else." I told him yes I did and I'd get back to him. He then tried to tell me I had only 4 hours to give him a decision and pay! Haha! I yanked my boyfriend out of there and we went straight over to Vic. The next weekend Vic (not knowing about the other guy) showed me three stones. Vic said "the first one I'm going to show you is what I would NEVER allow you to buy"...and guess what? It was the SAME stone the last guy showed me! I told Vic the story and he just shook his head! THATS the difference in a quality jeweler and a rip off artist!
