We recently had a break-in at our home. The perpetrators had completely destroyed one of our windows in the middle of the night. We were shocked by the brazen nature of this attack. The following morning, I had found Golden State Windows thru Yelp. From the moment they answered the phone, their team promptly responded to our call to replace the shattered window. Gary had arranged to visit our home within less than an hour. He provided what options were available and we were able to select the new windows in rapid fashion. After selecting our window replacement, another GSW employee came to our home within 2 hours to measure the window section which needed to be replaced. Initially, Gary had told us that it would take approximately 2 weeks for our window replacement to be prepared but he would place a priority order to get it sooner. Within 2 business days, we received a callback and made an appointment to schedule the window replacement. And our window was replaced within days of the break-in. Should anyone suffer the same situation, I would wholeheartedly urge you to call this company. TL-DR: If you're uneducated about windows, their parts, warranty, work, etc. - don't use this company. They are looking to make a quick buck off you and are underhanded in their tactics. I bought new windows from this company (Gary) back in 2019. Here were my unfortunate experiences. 1) I was unfamiliar with window brands, they used a budget brand on me I was unfamiliar with window brands, so I allowed them to install what they felt was good. I asked for something that can last and wouldn't break the bank, they referred a brand that was supposedly competitive with Milgard. Not knowing any better, I said OK. This was my first mistake - the windows have tons of problems! They don't close all the way sometimes which triggers my alarm sensors, the sliding door goes off track and doesn't open well, and they leak which brings me to my second point. 2) I was unfamiliar with the work required to fix the problem I was having (leaking) I was unfamiliar with the work required and all I knew was that my old windows were leaking. They came out and told me - oh, it's because you have old windows! New windows won't leak. They gave me a quote for nearly $8000. A year later, the window were leaking again. I called them back and they came back out and said - oh it's because you need to caulk around the windows regularly. They caulked it for me and left. The next year, the windows leaked again. They said - oh it's because your window trims need to be replaced and quoted me another $4000 for it. It felt like they gave me an estimate of work to make a buck, not to help me fix my issue. 3) Any damages caused by installation is not covered They damaged my window sill and surrounding areas around the window (wall and paint) and said any damages caused during the installation would not be fixed. I had to patch and repaint myself. read more

After getting 3 quotes and working with each company, I found GSW to be the most honest about what to expect and how they will complete the project for me. GSW was not the cheapest option but their prices are fair and they were straightforward on how we would handle unforeseen situations (like potential water damage) - that gave me the comfort to move forward with them. Luckily, no unforeseen issues and we replaced the windows at the quoted price. Alex even took photos of the window frame and sent them to me so I could rest assure we don't have any water damage in the window frames. Awesome service. We were under warranty for the individuals replacement glass with Ply-Gem only, so we searched for a local company to install the glass panes for us. Gary with GSW responded quickly and was one of the few companies even willing to do this work. Gary kindly worked with us to determine our needs, set a price, and then schedule a time to come out. We needed to replace 14 windows in a wood sided home built in the early 1900s in north Oakland. We went with Golden State Windows in large part because Gary was very responsive and thorough, and we were looking to do a combination of Marvin all wood windows and also more affordable vinyl windows. There are a ton of details for windows and we wanted things to be done right, and Gary was great about going through the details and catching issues prior to placing the orders. Still, when issues came up (e.g. manufacturer needs to modify order based on measurements, or window damaged in transit) Gary and Golden State handled everything well and we're happy with the end results. Note that we did the drop in replacements (not a full frame replacement), so there was minimal disturbance of interior or exterior trim, which didn't require a lot of carpentry expertise. The interior trim that had to be removed to install the window was reinstalled, and will need to be repainted (which is normal / expected). We would definitely use Golden State for our next window project. read more

We purchased double pane, Anlin, Catalina series vinyl windows for our house . Our salesperson's name was Gary. We had a really smooth experience . The windows took 4 weeks to custom build . The installation was one whole day . The Installers seemed really experienced paid close attention to Detail, and cleaned up really well. We like the fact that the windows come with a double lifetime warranty and even include accidental Glass breakage. Anlin also put what's called Anlin armour so when the installation was done, they peeled off the stickers and The Glass was real clean. We Can't say enough good things about our new Anlin double pane vinyl windows . We went with the Catalina series. Golden State Windows did a great job installing. They finished my entire house in one day . Even though our patio doors are very large, they're extremely easy to open. The garden window in the kitchen is very cool and opens on the sides with single Hung flankers. We decided to put a bay window in the front ,It really gave a beautiful look and addition to the living room. We ordered Lowe and argon gas glass package, which really made the house more energy efficient. Gary was our sales rep. He's really easy to get in touch with and always picks up the phone. After most of our Milgard windows failed with condensation in between the glass And months of fighting with Milgard service department. We finally decided to give up and purchase New double pane windows. We called Golden State Windows Gary was our sales person.
