The people who operate the Pacifica location are the worst kind. They pretend to be a part of the community, when in fact, they are scam artists and rip off agents. I brought my sliding window to them for measurement and ordering of a new insert. I was quoted $296.00, out the door, including a $35.00 installation fee and I paid for it. When the glass was ready, I received a call from them. During our conversation, I asked them to take off the installation fee because I can install it myself and they said okay. When I picked up the glass with my teenage boy, they said we have to charge tax on the glass, so your bill will be $284. When I said that sounds like a scam, it should be $296.00 minus $35.00, they start screaming, "Get the f*%# out of my shop." I said not until you refund my money. While refunding my money, mind you, they're still shouting profanities. It is horrible to experience profanities during a business transaction, but unspeakable when people can't sensor themselves in front of children. I called Progress Glass Co. in San Francisco and was told $160.00 out the door, which shocked me that Dial Glass was already ripping me off in addition to trying to get more. The only satisfaction I got out of this horrible experience was Dial Glass ripped themselves off. They are stuck with a special order piece of insulated glass and I've already installed my new insert from Progress Glass Co., enhanced by the roll of double-sided tape they gave me for free. I've been serving Pacifica and the Peninsula for over 25 years: every customer and friend I talk to will be warned about Dial Glass and Window Co. The one star reflects the initial encounter.
Cheryl said I left stuff out - yes, I did leave out that three other employees, not five, tried to convince me to go along with Dial Glass's improper Tax and Use codes. They were ranting about how Cheryl is a certified accountant while stating my case. All of them became very hostile and aggressive. I find it ironic when hostile people start shouting, "Get the f%#$ out of my shop before I call the police." Cheryl claims to have been in business over 50 years; that would make her 70 years old - lie. Maybe I should send a written letter and copy of the invoice to the Board of Equalization (BOE) and let them school Dial Glass on tax laws. In my profession, I have prepared many quotes and I always itemize everything. If it is not itemized, it is included in the price. When a business says everything (including $35.00 labor) comes to $296.00, they should not turnaround and tell you that if they do not charge you for labor, they are to charge you in taxes. Let us not forget that they are overcharging by $136.00, according to the other glass company I was fortunate to end up with. Also, I Think I will file a Better Business Bureau complaint. read more
