I submitted a scratch test report and had a very short response, I had then requested to speak to the supervisor. The response I originally received was very disheartening to me as I felt I was being dismissed, not given a chance to plead my case, however after talking to the co owner, I feel differently. He was so kind and it was truly a safe space to talk to him openly and honestly about the entire experience, give feedback. He was kind, respectful, understanding and supportive. We came to a very fair solution. For that I will continue recommending four winds growers, I will continue purchasing from them. The quality of their customer service is what differentiates them from their competitors. We hit a bump in the road and they showed up and helped make me feel seen and valued. Thank you four winds. Looking back, I understand why I had received a short response, it was a Friday and the employee was probably just trying to close up and get through all emails. I'm thankful I requested to speak to a supervisor and I'm happy to know she was honest and put me through. A PSA to everyone: always speak up, advocate for yourself because no one else will. People won't always know what is wrong unless you speak up. But that isn't permission to be aggressive and mean, it just means it's ok to ask for help. Check out Four Wind Growers TikTok and IG page for super helpful tips and advice. Also their super cute dog makes appearances in their video with their famous orange tennis ball in the pot trick.

Andy & Julia offer a traditional CSA process of drop offs and have established bi-weekly "Mystery Box" nights at different meeting points around the city of San Francisco. For the Mystery Box - you never know what you'll get - but you'll definitely get far above your $25 worth! You can also sign up for updates from the "Ladybug Buying Club" - notices about veggies and fruit that are available in bulk for pickup at Mystery Box locations. Recently, I have brought home a giant Musquee de Provence pumpkin for $6, a flat of organic fall strawberries for $24, 25# of Braeburn apples for $26 and over the summer - basil for $1 for a generous bunch (I got 12!). Mariquita also hosts "U-Pick" events for tomatoes in the fall - and at fifty cents a pound, you'll find it hard to resist going home with less than 50# of tomatoes... I personally brought home 150# of tomatoes and now have tomato sauce for the rest of the year. Mariquita always has the best produce - unlike other CSAs, it doesn't just go bad in the fridge from being picked too ripe and hanging out in a hot warehouse or truck for too many days. It may be a little pricey compared to your local Asian market, but for the quality and the focus on sustainability rather than the bottom line, it's worth it to me. The farm also sends out a newsletter alerting you to what's predicted to be in the box, recipe ideas, and happenings on the farm, which is great for planning what to do with the haul (because it is a haul!) and learning about where our food is coming from.

Figured the eucalyptus would be fine semi seasoned since this wood is so flammable. They delivered in the rain per my request! Wood still came pretty dry and they were able to back up my steeper driveway and have their dump truck dump at the top. Wood has been great quality and burns hotttt and pretty long in the wood stove. The front office was very accommodating and nice. They included some wood to go since we had mentioned we were completely out. Was a good idea anyway to try it out and see if we liked the wood. Also gave us a couple of freebie fire starters which is paraffin wax and cedar shavings. Those start a fire quickly but was $1.25 each. Even cutting them in quarters I don't think it's worth the price over fat wood or other starters such as that. Either way-- highly recommend checking it out for firewood. I was trying to find out if they had any seasoned wood available. I then stopped by at about 10:45 AM. A fellow whom I've done business with before greeted me outside the office. I told him I was looking to pick up just a few pieces - maybe a dozen, just to get through the chilly weekend. He said I could have whatever amount I wanted but I'd have to pay cash. I said I don't have cash. I could pay with a debit card, and he said he didn't want to pay the fees. I said he could charge me more to cover the fees. Then he said he didn't want to open the office to process the card. That was a real bummer. And, they've lost my business for good.

She scanned the other stones: they showed as "Garnet" and "Diamond." Another jeweler in town told me the stones were fake and offered me $350 for them. My mom has been coming to this place for years, and for good reason! The space is huge, and they have a ton of options! Everything from plants, to fruits and veggies, to water features, sculptures, and more! There is a wonderful gift shop with anything you could want for your garden to help plants grow or keep animals away. They have all kinds of fun gifts and trinkets for the garden and around the house! I wrote a nice review about this place after the first time I went several years ago, but it undoubtedly deserves an update. I have been several times since my first visit, and love it every time! The owner, Gustavo, is a true gem. He is friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking, and an overall joy to interact with. He greets everyone with a huge smile, and is always happy to answer questions and help. He works seven days a week most weeks, and is truly passionate about what he does. This past weekend, they hosted their 17th Annual Christmas Open House. This event features live music, local wine, hot chocolate and cider, and homemade pastries by Gustavo's wife herself! They transform the gift shop into a winter wonderland, featuring around a dozen decorated Christmas trees among other festive decorations! People are encouraged to bring pastries to share, and they definitely did! There was a huge table with cookies, cakes, pies, and more! They also help collect donations for the local food bank by offering a discount on your purchase if you bring a bag of canned or non-perishables. We attended this event on Friday the 6th, and it was a lovely experience! The vibes were amazing, sipping wine and cider listening to live music by some fire pits. This was my first year attending the Christmas Open House, but it will not be the last! Thank you again to Gustavo and all of the hardworking staff at Alladin! IG: @bbnem.eats
