I decided to stop at this little shop on my drive to Sacramento. Best decision. I got a blackberry white mocha frap and lemon poppy dead muffin top. It is delicious. The girl working was the sweetest and even gave me a local hiking spot to check out. What a way to start my day! What a cute theme with the fountain out front too. Super cute.
I picked this place based off reviews and I have never been so let down. I was passing through and wouldn't even go here if I was a local. Save your money and time, go to Starbucks, unless you like the most flavorless coffee in the entire Pacific Northwest. You know when you finish your iced coffee and then then the ice melts a bit so you take a sip and it's pretty much ice water with a hint of coffee, that's what this place makes. It's like they poured water into a cup that at one point held coffee grounds and then added off brand sweetener. It's as if they blended all of the ingredients and missed the cup while pouring shots but a single drop of espresso somehow made it in to your cup... Terrible coffee aside, the personality of the two baristas was SO unwelcoming and unfriendly. Maybe they were both having a bad day but it made me feel compelled to write this review. I would have never reviewed this place if the coffee was good but since it tasted terrible I felt their attitudes warranted this. I ended up going to Starbucks after this and told the barista about my experience and she wasn't surprised, so it leads me to wonder about the authenticity of the good reviews on this place. I was so looking forward to making small talk while waiting for them to make my drinks after ordering but that didn't happen. There was absolutely no customer connection, not even a hello, just asked me what I was ordering and if I wanted whipped cream. When the drinks were done she handed them to me and didn't even tell me a total. Like bare minimum wasn't even reached. The coffee stand itself was pretty cute, I liked the water fountain thing they had and how it was drive thru and also gave the option for walk up customers. While waiting in line I actually looked up the local real estate because I was daydreaming about how delicious this coffee could be, and envisioning myself coming to this stand for my future caffeine needs, unfortunately, I will never return because of my experience today. Again, save your money, time, and taste buds by avoiding this stand.

We stopped by here to grab coffee on our way to Seattle. As a mom, I live on coffee, so good coffee is so important to me. Gold Rush Espresso's coffee does just that, strong and good. There is a good variety of items on the menu. They also serve small size whole food smoothies for the kiddos. The staff is so friendly and cute. They made my kids's smoothies so cute. Thank you.

Call me shallow and predictable, but I judge a coffee place by whether or not it tastes like Starbucks--- because I'm addicted to the flavor, like the way their beans are roasted, or whatever it is that makes theirs taste the way it does. So yeah, Starbucks is my basis for comparison here (like the fresh stuff from the shops, not the bottled stuff, totally different flavor). Which by the way, I've been living in the bay area for several years with access to Starbucks shops, but since moving back up here, I've been depressed with NO Starbucks in this county! lol. Anyway, on the Golden Rush Espresso review.... I've seen this place a lot, just passing by. But I never visited it before today, because I assumed it was only hot drinks, and unless its freezing outside, I only want iced coffee (and sometimes still even then! lol). But today (June 6, 2013), I saw a woman leaving this place carrying iced drinks, and I was like, "Oh! They make iced drinks? AND they have a drive-thru?? Hey, if they measure up to Starbucks, I will shut my mouth and be happy!" lol. So I pulled into the drive-thru. I had my neighbors in the car with me, and it was horribly hot, so we all decided to try these drinks for the first time. I took LOTS of pictures of the place, and of our drinks, and their menu, in case anybody is interested, I uploaded them here. The menu was nice and clear to read. The service was very friendly and attentive. These are the drinks we ordered: ME-- White Mocha Chill (with whipped cream on top) NEIGHBORS: Banana Cram Pie (a cold, blended drink) I parked in a shady spot and we tried our drinks. I was HAPPY because it had that "Starbucks" roasted flavor, so as you can imagine I was jumping for joy that there is actually a place nearby where I can order such a drink and get my "fix", lol. I tried some of my neighbors banana flavored drink too, and ooooohhhhhh that was YUMMY! :D And there are a lot of other drinks on the menu that I am kinda dying to try now. The only thing is, I forgot to ask for a punch card, so I'm sorta kicking myself right now. But hey, I go to Yreka soooooo often, so I'll just get one next time I'm there. No big deal. I can't believe I have been living up here for 2 years, and there was a decent, Starbucks-y type place to get a good coffee drink the whole time! But that's alright, now I know, so I can quit being depressed, lol. Basically 5 stars for this place, love it. The only improvement I can suggest is maybe offer some version of the iced drinks like Starbucks does, like with just liquid and ice cubes, instead of the ice all blended up? I mean it was really good like that, but I just tend to prefer liquid drinks with ice cubes. Prices... They're about the same as Starbucks, up to $2 to $5 depending what it is and how big. Other than that, I LOVE this place! I'm willing to pay a few bucks for a decent drink.

There are currently at least 3 drive-thru coffee spots in Yreka... a town of 8,000 people. Golden Rush is probably the most popular and most conveniently located. The wait time here is excessive for me, whether there's a line or not (and generally there's a line). The staff are always really friendly, and tend to be consistent. The coffee is okay, and depending on who you ask, all drinks above a small have one or two shots of espresso max in them. I like my coffee fairly strong so I always add at least one shot. My drinks from here tend to taste more like syrup than other places, but I do like the black and white. The frozen drinks are also really popular. My niece and nephews love their blended chocolate kid size drinks with whipped cream on the straw :) If you are in the area often and like this spot, ask for a punch card to earn free drinks! read more

We came here because a really good friend of ours recommended them and Gold Rush delivered. My husband for the White Mocha chill and my son ordered the mango fruit freeze drink. Both are happy and we will be coming back. read more
