It was hard to get to this place has there was a farmers market going on. But what a great place! I came for ice cream, but wanted to order a hot dog. So many things on the menu looked great. No one was behind the ice cream counter when I arrived, but soon a youngster made their way over and very pleasantly greeted and assisted me. I was surprised there was no chocolate chip ice cream. I ended up ordering a flavor a rarely if ever order...maple nut. The nut being walnut. On a plain waffle cone. As you can see from the photo, there were a number of very tempting dipped and sprinkled cones. Might have to try one of those next time. That ice cream was so rich and flavorful, I may have to order it again. After I have lunch there. read more

They offer classes in different mediums and techniques, as well as a variety of ceramics that you can paint. Great soda fountain with ice cream and fun items like phosphates. The full grill menu looked good but we only got treats which were delicious- I will be back for the orange creamsicle phosphate the next time i'm passing through! This place is a great combination of unique items for Yreka. Gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. This is the only place that I've found Boba in town. I'm also looking forward to bringing nieces and nephews for the ceramic painting. So far, everything I've tried has been fantastic. read more

Great Cubano style sandwich and ice cream! Painted a mug that I may keep for myself or give as an Xmas gift depending on how it turns out lol! The sandwich was delicious, melted cheese, ham, pickles and mustard very much an approximation of a good Cubano panini style! Their mini ice cream cones are a perfect size for desert. What a remarkable experience! Talya is so talented and the other lady that works on the weekend has such a magnificent personality. We had a huge birthday party for my mother several years ago and everything was perfect! Winter is coming and that is the perfect time to spend a couple hours at Bella creating special gifts for your family and friends. Went to my grandaughter's 3rd birthday party here. Amazing & attentive staff!!!! I usually go here for warm pretzels or delicious ice cream-but they offer so much more! Sandwiches & hot chocolate just to name a few---and the owner, Talya, ( along with her family) make this place a definite asset to our community. The "adult" grilled cheese sandwiches, my favorite is the Batman (Bacon, Avocado, & Tomato), are great. They have a wide variety of ice cream flavors. While there you can paint any number of figures, dishes or bowls which will be cooked in a kiln. They also offer a glass making class. You can rent out the entire place for a party. A great place with friendly staff, go see them. read more

Bella Artwork is a really fun family time. I take my children there a few times a year to paint ceramic mugs play our little figurines and get ice cream. Such a unique and wonderful place for Yreka! A very cool art studio where you can pick out your own pieces to paint and have kiln fired into your own artwork, mixed with a soda fountain that serves great sandwiches and soups and ice cream! I used to come to this soda fountain as a kid to get ice cream. Very cherished memories. And the fact that something so nostalgic in my childhood remains alive in this town, with an art studio added on top of it to liven it up, makes it a whirlwind of a place. Check it out. For everyone who loves Bella for the arts and crafts, you NEED to try the items on their new food menu! I've only tried a few items so far, but the Spinach and Chicken Strawberry salad is my favorite! I never would've thought that mixing spinach, strawberries, avacado, bacon, and almonds would work but it DOES..and sesame dressing to top it off! Talya and Jackie are the best!!! We had a huge party there and it went without a hitch! It was a surprise party for my Niece and my Sister and it was perfect. The staff helped me to paint a beautiful cow picture on canvas, it came out so good I will keep it forever. The owner is clearly artistically gifted, it must be hereditary because her talent just cannot be taught. If you want a great lunch, have them make you a burnt grilled Hot Dog, you will love it. We came back for ice cream last Saturday when it was hot and I was surprised on the endless combinations that are available there. I had a tough time figuring out what I wanted but once I did it was great. Bring you family and friends, young or old and they will have a blast!!! Specialties

Bella Art Works is a paint your own pottery and retro soda fountain. We offer an open studio for pottery painting as well as classes in all art mediums, glass fusing, canvas painting, mosaics, etc. Our soda fountain adds the perfect touch to events, birthdays and holiday parties. Along with being the only place in California serving B.J.'s ice cream we also offer soups, salads and our signature "Grown Up" grilled cheeses.

History

Established in 2013.

Bella Art Works started as a small paint your own pottery/glass fusing studio. When the historic soda fountain across the street became available it seemed like the perfect addition to the existing business. The studio moved into the historic soda fountain building and has gradually expanded its offerings.

Meet the Business Owner: Talya N.

Talya is the owner of the business and views running the business as an outlet to "recharge" from a stressful 40 hr week as a social worker. Talya's retired mother loved going to Bella and became worried about its fate when the previous owners began talking about selling. Now Talya's mother helps run the shop and enjoys spending time visiting with customers.

The driver didn't really want to linger in California for long, so we stopped at a couple of spots just over the border, and decided that the Liquor Barn was the cheaper of the two. The employee or owner was very friendly and helpful, and made some great recommendations about which liquor to buy for the wedding, and made sure we grabbed boxes instead of individual bottles. It takes time and money (gas - ouch!) to drive down to California and it's easy to find people willing to take it off our hands later, so why NOT buy in bulk? Thank you for the help and lower-than-we're-used-to prices, Liquor Barn (man)!

One of the challenges on road trips is stopping for potty breaks for both humans and dogs…read more Maybe I've read too many murder mysteries, but I always approach a rest stop with a certain amount of trepidation. I am happy to share that this was quite a pleasant surprise. You can walk on the pathway and see the river flowing by. So relaxing. There is a lot of beautiful green grass and the bathrooms were clean. The only negative and it is kind of a big one is dogs are not allowed on the grass. The potty area for dogs is a dry dirt and weed area. I know it would be hard to maintain grass with people at pets urinating on it, but it was a little disappointing, considering the rest of the rest office is so pretty.
