    Fish entree

Came here for dinner due to its vicinity to my hotel and the great reviews. Endearing mom and pop shop. The husband was kind enough to translate the menu for me while the wife was in the kitchen. I ordered the fish entrée with vegetable sides. I really wanted to love this meal but it was just alright. The fish was nicely cooked in butter. However, the vegetables were way over cooked and the potatoes under cooked - not sure if it's a cultural cooking difference. I also tried the crème brulee which was like a bowl of sugar yikes.

Steak with Mushrooms and fingerlings potatoes

-Steak with mushrooms and fingerling potatoes was exquisite. The mushrooms were quite delicious; never had it before in the U.S. The steak, cooked medium rare, was prepared very well. My favorite, though, is the fingerling potatoes. They were by far among the best in Paris. It was perfectly brown and crunchy, yet rich and lush on the inside. -Service was friendly. However, the cook does not speak any English but the bartender does. The cook is quite exuberant and lively. -Location: Not in the nicest part of town, but there shouldn't be any problem. -Price: Very reasonable.

We were walking and saw an older lady out smoking in the front. We weren't sure if it was the restaurant and once confirmed we started walking right in and the older lady had a smile on her face and started talking to us in French and gesturing us to go in. We walked in and I asked the bartender if he spoke English, he said very little, which meant really none at all. However, he was very patient with my boyfriend and I as we tried to make sense of the menu that was all in French. There are a few dishes for 10,50 Euros which isn't really bad for dinner. We ended up ordering escargot, a fish dish, and a steak with onions dish. He asked me how I wanted my steak and I told him Medium Rare, but he wasn't sure what Rare was so I told him just Medium. The escargot was nothing spectacular. It was definitely dunked in garlic/oily goodness but I've had a bit better in the states. The fish was buttery as well and it was lightly grilled. I thought it was pretty good because it was a bit flaky and the green beans and mushrooms were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend loved the tomatoes and commented on how they were the best tomatoes he has ever tasted. The tomatoes were definitely grilled and there was a little sweetness to them. My steak was ok. I think it is because their meat might not be as fatty as ours, very lean and healthier tasting. I'm used to the fat and drippings so this meat was definitely a little different. It was cooked well but it didn't have a very memorable flavor or any flavor at all. The grilled onions on top looked and tasted like the grilled onions from In and Out. The potatoes were good, but they weren't anything to rave about. The restaurant itself is small and dimly lit. It seems best to go on a date or with a small group. It is definitely preferred if you speak French here as their menu is in French and the staff there do not speak English. It was a good experience to support a local restaurant but it wasn't anything memorable. The staff was friendly and patient so that was definitely a bonus.

Great typical little french place. Not awesome fine cuisine but still great food and really typical dishes. The staff is really friendly and the ambiance is really familial. You can become friends with anyone there. The prices are really ok for what you get. I.E. Steak tartare fore 10.50 €!

This place was an adventure to say the least. We were relying totally on Yelp ratings expecting this place to be incredible. We didn't really read the reviews otherwise we would have known the lady running this one man shop doesn't speak a lick of English. She pulled someone off the street to take our orders. There were no menus--just some writing on the walls. We were the only ones in the shop at 6pm and I'm pretty sure she lives there! With all that said the food was pretty good and we had fun on this wild adventure. Definitely was an authentic French experience!

My father and I can't speak French, and the female owner can't speak English, but somehow, we made it work. Her English-speaking husband wasn't there at the time, but through Google Translate and her patience, I was able to eat a delicious filet de boeuf au poivre! The atmosphere was very casual and even though there was a language barrier, the owner still found ways to make us laugh at feel at home.

Steak and potatoes, very good. Ordered medium rare however was more on the rare side, but was a nice hole in the wall

I started with the free-range eggs with mayo, and my wife started with the leeks with vinaigrette. The eggs were delicious, but the leeks may have been the best preparation I've ever had in my life. For our main courses, she had the egg muffin, and I had the sausage and mash. Our meal was superb. Whoever is in the kitchen has clearly learned the art of French cuisine well. Service was fantastic, the people-watching (we ate al fresco) was fantastic, and I simply couldn't think of a way to make this a better meal.

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.
