    Oxtail!!!!

I was today years old when I discovered a Golden Crust in Plainfield, NJ! As a native New Yorker, I have spent many meals enjoying the Jamaican delights at NYC Golden Crusts locations. So with haste, I made my way from Central Jersey to this location bringing my mother along for the ride. As soon as we walked in, we were overwhelmed with delicious aromas and pleasant smiles from the staff. This establishment is immaculate! Clean, updated, comfortable seating, a drive thru, and it even has a skip the line kiosk to place orders. Am I dreaming? The presentation of the food bar is pristine. Everything was delicious! The options are truly endless and the quality is top tier. I ordered many of our favorites, such as oxtail, curry goat, curry chicken, chicken soup, patties, plantains etc. Every dish was a homerun. This may be the best Golden Crust I've experienced. Listen, run don't walk to this spot! You will not be disappointed!

I ordered a small brown stew chicken on Sunday, and as you can see, the portions were huge. This restaurant gets a bad wrap because they're franchised, but this entree was delicious !!! The total for all that food was $14.80- not bad for a meal and tomorrow'slunch!!! My family also loves the mild beef patties! Plus, the Plainfield location has a drive-thru window. Very convenient!

I'm paitently waiting for this spot to open and I was pleased with my experience. When you walk in the restaurant it is very clean and has a fee tables available to eat at. An older woman greeted me and my fiance, and she was very pleasant while taking our order. I feel the pricing and what we received were fair. If I had to nitpick, I wished my plantains were sweet other than that I would return.

The restaurant is small and comfy, with 4-seat tables lined up against one wall and the opposite wall being taken up by a counter and counter seats. Pictures of food hang on both walls and four brown ceiling fans hang from the ceiling. The restaurant's color scheme is very "latte", as the main colors are white and beige and only one part of the wall is red. Daughter ordered the fried flounder with 2 over easy eggs and grits with wheat bread. She said that the fish was nicely fried and crunchy. It didn't need tartar or cocktail sauce. She said it was her first time eating a breakfast item like this and her taste buds had never felt this sensation before. LOL. Hubs ordered the pinto con chorizo with sunny side up eggs. The server warned him that the sausage was spicy, but he didn't care. When we came here, Hubs didn't expect Hispanic food for brunch and was so surprised and so happy. He found the first item that he can see and translate and was happy he did. The chorizo had a nice spunk to it. He was happy that he got rice and beans instead of home fries and what a delightful change! The chips were also nice and crispy. Lastly, I had waffles with mixed fruit. I LOVED my waffles because it was nice and crunchy. The mixed fruit were bananas, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. They were a nice touch. I was asked if I wanted whipped cream and I said yes. Coffee was freshly brewed and it was nice and strong. It wasn't ordinary diner coffee. Hubs was happy about getting his cup refilled. Service was fast and really friendly. The waiter was always smiling. Parking is street parking. When we were there, it was free parking. Neighborhood was a bit sketchy, though. We were thinking of checking out the flea market across the street but changed our minds. Glad we got to try this place! Maybe one day, we'll be back.

Soooo yummy!!! I love the waffles. This place really hit the spot and everyone there is so kind.read more

When our food arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was beautiful. The avocado toast was just spectacular (see photos) and the cappucino had a cool design in the foam. The second thing I noticed was that my egg white omelette was bright yellow. Um, really? So the waitress returned it to the kitchen, and brought back my toast to eat while I waited for the new omelette. Really???? I watched as my breakfast partner enjoyed her avocado toast, and as my toast got cold. After my partner had finished her breakfast, my omelette arrived, and I had to request fresh toast. My omelette their "Best Green" was mediocre at best. My partner's avocado toast was good. The coffees were OK. If the waitress had been decent, and had some common sense, I *may* have rated 4 stars. But my experience was 1) mediocre food, 2) less than adequate server, and 3) outrageously expensive breakfast. Will I try Maria's Brunch again? Maybe, just maybe.

The owner, Carolina, was warm and charming as was the waitress, Amira, who provided great service. We started with Argentine beef empanadas as a starter. For lunch I ordered the beef milanesa platter with French fries, while my wife had the chicken milanesa sandwich. Both dishes were generous in portion and full of flavor, just the kind of hearty, home-style fare I love from Argentine cafés. We also picked up a sandwich de miga to take home--a crustless ham and cheese sandwich that was simple, delicate, and satisfying. I'd rate both the meal and the sandwich an easy 8 out of 10. The café itself has a welcoming, local feel, and visiting on a weekday kept things peaceful. I learned they offer fresh Argentine pastries on weekends, which sounds like a perfect reason for a return visit soon. Patria Station Café is a great spot for authentic flavors, big portions, and a pleasant, laid-back experience.

Nuray's is an incredibly cozy cafe tucked into a strip mall. It's a bit hidden if you've never been, but just keep walking through the strip until you get to the end and there it is. I felt like I was walking into an adorable living room/kitchen, it's just a very welcoming space. I ordered the special of the day, the portobello mushroom panini ($15) and an oat milk latte. The panini was delicious! Cheesy with a great sauce and the mushrooms were soft and flavorful. I thought I'd only have room for half but ended up devouring the entire thing. It also came with a small and simple salad which was a nice bite to have on the side. I didn't love my latte too much as it wasn't very strong and would maybe stick with tea on my next visit. This was a great place to meet and chat before meetings. We took out our laptops to get a little work done (they do not have wifi so I don't recommend you plan to do that without a hotspot). For two sandwiches, two lattes and one hot cup of tea it came out to $60 after tax and tip. That is on the more expensive side, but I still am happy to have found a lovely lunch spot in the area.
