I finally had a chance to stop by Golden Eggroll. There's plenty of parking in this little plaza so it shouldn't be a problem. It's a take-out shop so don't expect to dine-in. I ordered 6 egg rolls and jasmine rice for under $13. The it's bang for the buck. These are not the type of egg rolls that you find at a Chinese buffet (wonton wrapped filled with lots of cabbage). The ones that this shop sells is a unique type -- Hmong style egg rolls. The egg rolls are hot, filled with clear noodles and meat (pork, chicken, shrimp) of your choice. Very addictive so be careful! There are also a variety of dipping sauce that you can choose from. I prefer the sweet or spicy one. The jasmine rice was also cooked perfectly. If you're looking for a quick bite for lunch, check out the lunch combos. Make sure to look on the right side, the signage is a bit hidden. Overall, great customer service and good people. read more

This place opened within the past week. We went in today and got shrimp spring rolls, pork eggrolls and stuffed chicken wings. The food is definitely fresh, no stale rice paper on the spring rolls and the eggrolls we're still warm. Sauces do NOT come with dishes. It's $0.50 per 2 oz ramekins. I'm not a fan of how the stuffing in the pork Eggroll is nearly identical in flavor of the stuffed chicken wing. Both fillings are strong in cabbage and vegetable flavor. When I order different items I expect some difference in taste. My bf recommends this spot offers another meat option like Hmong sausage or equivalent. Due to location, freshness and speed I believe this place will have a successful future. read more

Golden Eggroll is the hidden gem of Hickory. While the humble joint might not be much to the eye, the food is what really makes this place. Golden, delicious egg rolls. I've been here many times over the last few years and it's one of Hickory's greatest establishments. Having recently returned from a trip to the end of the world (Antarctica), I can confirm that I have been to the end of the world in search of the best egg-roll and at last I have found where they reside. Very clean, like eat off the floor clean. I had the veggie spring rolls and fried rice and both were fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I was not charged for the sauce to accompany my spring rolls. It's a take out place only, no dine in option. Haven't tried the stuffed wings yet, but will update when I do. I hope they are successful, the things I tried were very fresh and I will back. Update: We have been back several times and had the stuffed chicken wings and egg rolls. Everything has been delicious. A few times I stopped in during open posted business hours, about 2ish, and no one was there but it has been a few months since that has happened. Overall, I love this place. I was very disappointed! Spring rolls were stuck to the container. I knew right away they would not be worth the effort of removing them from the container. Also they had some kind of disgusting potted "meat" inside sort of like like Spam. Really bad!! We also had the stuffed chicken, they looked like they would taste great but they did not. They are stuffed with noodles that were a translucent mess that had no flavor, very gross. Egg rolls were good, the curry was good neither were anything to write home about. read more

Golden Eggroll is always great. We live close by so we go here often. It is only "to go" but always great food. Small limited menu but everything on it is good and usually hot and fresh. Prices are low and food is the best. Definitely recommend! read more

This place is new to town. The egg rolls were really just ok. Same for the stuffed chicken wings. Neither were as crispy as I prefer. Itw as very fast. The food is prepared and waiting in warming trays. I don't think we'd return there. read more

Stop by to check them out.. thinking it was another Chinese joint, behold they sell mostly eggrolls & spring rolls & fried rice. Tried out their stuff wings n boy they were stuffed n 2 of them!! First time eating at the Golden Eggroll but will be back! So impressed with the service. Everyone was BEYOND friendly and kind. They have the best crab Rangoon's I have ever had before. I didn't expect much but this place has very fresh spring rolls and fried egg rolls. Their fried rice is also fresh and not greasy. Even my kids live their fried rice. I tried stuffed chicken and their sweet rolls and I personally prefer the regular egg rolls. But that's just my personal preference. For the price this is a good spot for take out. The fried rice, the stuffed chicken wings and the egg rolls lacked seasoning. The stuff wings you can taste the noodle and it too bland for me. Would had love some more seasoning, good thing there are sauces to dipped them into. The fried rice is okay, nothing too special and the egg rolls, definitely need seasoning, I thought I could taste a hint of oyster sauce or black pepper. More meat would be nice too. read more

I had the papaya salad and thought three peppers should be okay. Good golly I was wrong. Lol. It was too spicy. That's my fault. I may not be Asian enough . Next time I'll just have one. When I first went here, I drove over 20 minutes to find out papaya was not a daily item on the menu. Was disappointed they could not make it for me(as if was offered for the next day and should of had products to simply make) Egg rolls , cabbage rolls and stuffed wings are great! Nam vam was not fresh-kinda of soggy and color was bland(due to sitting out color did not take and mixed with the water) Downfall-no place to sit and enjoy the food! I ordered the 2 chicken egg egg roll and fried rice combo for $5. My honest review: everything is cooked so perfect. The eggrolls are just crispy enough and the insides are cooked perfect. The fried rice has the perfect stickiness to it, and vegetable ratio is good. Prices were great. Everything I ordered was cooked perfectly. The reason I am giving a 3 star review is because the flavor, there is very little flavor to anything. I also got grandmas spicy sauce, it was INSANELY hot. I dipped once and my nose was leaking and I couldn't cool my mouth down. I love me some hot food but that sauce is crazy crazy hot. But oddly good. After using that sauce I couldn't taste the food for a good 10 minutes. If you've never tried this place, I recommend it just to try it. But I wouldn't go back unless there was nothing else open. read more
