I feel bad giving this review, because the place was once so wonderful under the previous owners. Despite being an older building, it had the best Chinese food I've had. They had the most delicious handmade cream cheese wontons around. Never was your order wrong. If you are confused why the reviews have dropped the change of ownership is why. The new owners so far can't match the quality of the previous ones. I wish they could. I miss them greatly because they were so nice and diligent. My mom loves this place. I think it is ok. It is a bit run down inside but the food is good. We always get takeout. It's ready fast and very hot. I like the cream cheese wontons (like crab rangoons but not fishy). Mom can't get enough of the hot and sour soup. Staff is always nice. read more

It gets 2 stars 1 for quickness and another for the friendly staff, but the egg roll that everyone raves about here are you kidding me and the Szechuan chicken were almost inedible. I was really pleased with my dish. They do a superb job with tofu! The home style tofu was sooooo tasty. The veggies in the dish were plentiful and well-seasoned. This is easily the best Chinese place in the area. Their prices are cheap, but the food does not lack any flavors. I've been doing there for over 15 years, and nothing has changed. The owners are as nice as you can get and the food is as fresh as you can get. My go-to dishes are the house lo mein (made spicy), sesame chicken, teriyaki chicken on a stick (made spicy), and wings (made spicy). I've tried almost everything on the menu, and it's all been good. Have ate here for many, many years & quality is definitely not what it used to be. Ordered two entrees, Veg Lo Mein & Pork Chow Mein, neither worth eating! Also ordered Chinese Veg Soup which I admit was good. Quantity of entrees is good but if you prefer flavor go elsewhere. a new contender has risen for worst chinese food in the hickory- statesville area (and thats going some!) . all the food is tasteless, greasy beyond belief, vegetables are cooked to death and beyond. fried rice is a round ball of mush served with an ice cream scoop from the looks of it. hot tea is a generic teabag in a styrofoam cup. all styrofoam dinner ware with light plastic cuttlerie. however,the old woman behind the counter was a joy to see, so it gives me no pleasure to write this ...... close it down and start over. there is good chinese food in hickory, keep looking read more

Ok , we have lived in our current location for 19 yrs.. China View used to be one of our favorites BUT NO MORE. the original owners have sold out to new owners, they are there pretty much all the time. Tonight 12/6/2017 we ordered A family size sesame chicken , fried rice a BBQ beef on a stick order and a Large bowl of Brown gravy. Now anyone who knew the previous owners KNEW they were made to order even if you have to wait 5 or so minutes ,,that is fine fresh is best , Tonight we were served (to go) sesame chicken that tasted like it had been soaked in vinegar and IT WAS COLD..anyone who knows Chinese food knows its hot enough to melt the to go containers . The Bowl of gravy was so salty i poured it down the kitchen sink, But only after i skimmed the inch of oil off of the top I do not pour oil down drain I don't need that clogging up my drains.. any how.. the The BBQ beef was raw in the center... this is the 2nd time in as many months the food has been HORRID.. I for one will not be returning. I am sad to know that they are still preparing foods under the china view name. The quality is not there the taste is not there and Neither am I.. read more
