Stayed for a night through our Harvest Host account and had a quick lunch after setting up. We both had the Pickle Bacon Ham Sandwich with the poutine and Mac & Cheese upgrade and everything was excellent. The staff are all very helpful and the service was fast. read more

I stopped by for breakfast and was blown away by the experience. I ordered the bacon and eggs with a hash brown -- the poached eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisp, and the hash brown had that golden crunch you hope for but rarely get. Everything was fresh and delicious -- you can really taste the quality. One of the coolest parts is that they make their cheese right on site, and there are big windows so you can actually watch the process. It's such a unique and charming touch that makes the place feel special. Before I left, I picked up some of their chive Havarti cheese -- and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Creamy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Friendly staff, cozy vibe, and amazing food. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area -- both for a meal and to stock up on cheese! read more

We were actually driving by on our way to Tim Hortons for breakfast when we stumbled upon this little spot, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made! The coffee is absolutely delicious and their breakfast was just perfect. I loved the strawberry jam they served with the toast, it was such a simple touch but definitely my favorite part. My partner ordered the spinach and feta quiche and it was made to perfection, with the most satisfying crunch in the crust and a flavorful filling. Such a wonderful find, we're so glad we stopped! They also have a farmers market on Saturdays! We stopped by a bit too early to enjoy it but it looked great! read more

Visited the store the other day. Bought some different cheeses. One was the gouda with pepper. They need to add way more pepper, as you can hardly taste the pepper. It says PEPPER gouda, make it PEPPERY. They also need more samples. Perhaps displayed. You should not have to ask for a sample. read more

Always love supporting local and we made a special out here to pick up some of their cheese curds. They also sometimes come to local farmer markets as well. read more

Say cheese!! Local farm lovers, this place is a must visit. This beautiful farm in Maple Ridge BC is not far from Vancouver BC, I am glad we decided to check it out. They make a good variety of delicious cheeses made with artisan grass-fed milk. Beautiful selection of Aged Cheddar, Gouda, Brie, Havarti, Host cheeses. Their Neufchâtel won the "Best Canadian Cheese" award, and absolutely delicious! Large viewing display window allows you to see how cheese is made. Quiet an experience. They have several tables outside to enjoy the the field view and fresh cool air. Small cafe inside serves a great breakfast and lunch menu. The whole experience is beautiful. The farm itself is perfectly appointed, superbly clean and organized. We sat outside to enjoy a platter of beautiful artisan cheese with fresh organic bread. Basil Gouda and Fenugreek Havarti was delicious. Neufchâtel is to die for! Everything is reasonably priced and affordable to eat in or buy for home. Their quaint farm store inside is stocked with locally sourced BC artisan foods- organic oils, jams, balsamics, pickles & olives, etc. the whole farm with the store inside and out proudly represent domestic business and has a great Canadian spirit. Wonderful experience! I definitely need to come back. read more

Cheese heaven. The lady at the cheese counter super helpful. She offered samples for us. I was indecisive and she didn't seems bothered. Lots of little local food items. Jam, honey, tea, bread. We had brunch at the cafe. Food was made fresh from order. So it takes a while if there's line up. There's one chef in the open kitchen. I recommend you walk in order food immediately then browse the shop. This place can get busy at lunch time. Plenty of parking. Lots of outdoor space for kids to run around. Clean. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed coming here for the first time this morning. Went for a quick hike at the dykes, and somehow managed to make my way over here. The layout of the store was clean and presentable. And adequate seating for the people. Food was great and tasty. Got the FF Poutine which was awesome. Would of been a five star if the fries were a bit better, but aside from that it's a thumbs up Definitely check it out! read more

Love the decor. The food was delicious and of generous portions. Our hostess and server were so personable and they made our experience very enjoyable. We'll definitely go back and bring friends. read more

For the love of cheese, it is highly advisable that one pays a visit here. Family owned and operated, they produce artisan cheeses, curds, and butter from cows on their farm right next door! They also make their cheeses with different flavours. I got to try some dill gouda and garlic havarti. They also make brie, cheddar, feta, and quark. Quark is like a cream cheese spread, but it is high in protein-which is a healthy snack. The cheese shop also has a small kitchen, which sells grilled cheese, soup, and poutine (only on the weekends.) As well, there's gelato, jams and preserves, breads, seasonings, and even ready made frozen meals. There's a nice patio for one to enjoy the cheese, snacks and coffee. Say yes to cheese. read more

Stellar hand-crafted creamy marvels, which are rotated and featured regularly! This time of year the fresh fruit stand adds more reason to visit. Highly recommended Operated by passionate, educated people! read more

Quaint little cheeseworks shop...love the "goodies" you can find...everything from balsamic vinegars to little kitchen Knick-knacks. Cheese is good but a bit on expensive side. Speaking for myself, I found their frozen homemade dishes (Mac & cheese amongst others) not flavourful at all and will not buy again Nice little shop! read more

This is a 2-part review: the store and the restaurant. The store is a solid 5-star! The artisan cheeses are stellar. You're encouraged to taste any of the cheeses on display; from the ultra creamy havartis to the nutty goodness of goudas. I came away with the basil gouda and smoked gouda. The folks behind the cheese counter were very helpful, knowledgable and friendly. They also have a nice array of gourmet jams, sauces, condiments, frozen doughs and pastas to choose from. The restaurant, on the other hand, is just a 3-star (hence an overall 4-star from me.) Although the cooks and servers were friendly, the food was average and it took 20 mins. to get our grilled cheese sandwiches and omelette. The coffee was not attended to so people were kept waiting while it brewed. I'll come back to the country store but I'm not sure if I'll come back to the restaurant. read more

Golden Ears Cheesecrafters - Plain grilled cheese, artisan grilled cheese with apples, and mushroom onion omelette. - Cheese Shops Near Me - Maple Ridge, British Columbia

A family run business that makes amazing cheese from local cows. Go local cows!! Great place with lots to choose from...more than just cheese is available. My personal fav is Mustard Seed Gouda...a great savory cheese to sink your teeth into. :-) I'm marking it as pricey in the dollars only because good cheese is not cheap and cheap cheese is not good. Their cheese is worth every dollar you will spend on it, highly recommended!! read more

One of my favorite businesses in town! Great products, great staff, and part of what makes Maple Ridge special!

3 part review *****Cheese counter is fabulous - *****you won't be disappointed by the samples of the cheeses they make. Definitely tough to decide what to buy to bring home. All good made with milk from their own cow herd! Wonderful story. *****Store with gift selection of kitchen tools, gadgets, serving wear and artisan condiments, jams and the like make it a great shopping source for hostess gifts and more. Not sure if they wrap, but if they don't, they should offer it. -*Restaurant is TERRIBLE except for some of the baking. We like the scones and cinnamon buns but the breakfast and lunch menu, are simply not executed well, not even fairly. Despite suggestions they still have not purchased a bread toaster! They have 2 panini presses they don't know how to use that they insist on using to toast 3/8" slices of mediocre bread until they turn into 1/4" hard crisps resembling Melba toast. No exaggeration. What does a revolving commercial toaster cost? Even a residential one would suffice. Basically the staff are untrained to cook with the exception of whomever does the baking. The young man cooking doesn't have the first notion of food prep, isn't interested, and looks depressed. He isn't even present. He doesn't want to be there. He cannot even smile or show interest in what he's doing. The girls are generally nice but once again untrained. They apologize without impact. Nothing improves. The menu is limited so should be easy to execute properly. It is not. Eggs on 3 occasions were overlooked; that is cooked solid ( supposed to be over easy), potato hash cubes were raw in centre, and bacon was opaque and raw. The food is unseasoned and it is served in stops and starts. Cold toast was delivered 5 min or more after everything else. Then she forgot the jam that they charged us $0.35 for a TBSP!? Last time we were there I noticed the overhead range hood fan was connected to electricity using extension cords!!!! not hard wired by an electrician. Isn't this against the law.?The tables are shabby chic country so not an issue but the chairs are plain awful and dirty. Shameful. The bathroom is clean. This place could be a 5-star gem (with a cheese bar, gift shop, covered veranda, ice cream, farm stand in summer, cooking demos, cheese factory tour?-not sure of the latter) but they cannot get their cooking right. We've been there about 6-7 times since we moved to Maple Ridge each time complimenting things we like such as the cheese, gift shop and baking and making suggestions regarding the restaurant - small changes that would be be noticed. We have tried and tried to support this place . I have pretty well given up. They don't want to improve. Their blasé attitude to the kitchen output, decor and equipment is woeful. The place seats a small number of patrons and is not cheap. There is no excuse for the lack of improvement. If I ever return, it would only ever be for a cinnamon bun. They have turned us off everything else. read more

Much attention is being given to the cheese, which is fair because they are cheesecrafters, but forget about the cheese for a moment. Go for the butter: it is transcendent. It has flavour that you will not find at any grocery store. It elevates what is combined with. Your Kraft Dinner will never be the same. I must say though that I do appreciate that they sell other locally made products. I was introduced to Big D's wildflower honey via GEC, which is to regular honey what GEC's butter is to regular butter (see above). They also have awesome scooooones. read more

Oh wow! So many samples and so many cheeses. I recommend getting the Brie. Everything is locally made and the cafe has some scrumptious dishes. Great place to go after a hike at Golden Ears. read more

The entire point of this place is supposed to be the experience. I mean lets face it, you can buy all of these cheeses and sauces at Thrifty food but I wanted to check it out because my friend loves it and I usually love quaint places like this. They do have a nice selection but the staff were just plain rude. I was purchasing some items and I attempted to hand the girl behind the cheese counter (who talks way too much) my debit card and she said, "Ew no, it goes in here." and handed me the debit machine so I could put it in my self. I paused with question and she said. "How do I know if you wash your hands?" Totally offensive! But it was ok that I was touching the machine. Then I went to speak with the person with the blue ribbon in her hair cooking behind the counter who never once smiled. I asked her if I could change an order for a nice outside country coffee and breakfast, to just the ham and egg and tomato on a plate and add an egg. I was thinking of bringing my mom there when she comes up from Vernon. And this very rude girl said what? So I repeated the question and in a very snarky manner she said... "Just whats on the menu." and got back to work... So incredibly rude!! My mom is celiac and she can't have bread and I was thinking if I could break apart the sandwich we might come. My friend waited for her marginal poutine while I waited in the car. I would never put these people on the front lines of my business and I won't be going back. read more

As good as it gets, actually. I love this place. Moved to Maple Ridge three months ago and have been here maybe 6 times since. The quality of groceries is exceptions; for me the standout items are the curd and the butter. Canada and its terrible dairy lobby have meant horrible cheese, butter and yogurt products for all Canadians. Golden Ears Cheesecrafters is an exception to the rule. The food is also great; the ice cream, the breakfast sandwiches and the poutine especially are all fantastic. My only knock, is I wish they were open Sunday too. read more

Love it here. Save-On does a good job of providing a variety of cheeses, but nothing compares to the flavour of the in-house-made cheeses at G.E.C. I highly recommend the fenugreek havarti and the cumin gouda. Also, their peppercorn goat cheese is amazing on burgers and steaks. Cheese aside, this is a welcome business in Maple Ridge, with baked goods direct from their demo kitchen, coffee, local consumables and cooking classes to boot. read more

Saw these guys at this year's Eat Vancouver. I tried a few samples of their cheese. They were also part of the cheese festival part of Eat Vancouver (to be reviewed later). Neat little place. Cheese is the speciality here , has an old school county feel. They have a full variety of different types of cheeses I believe this place was a farm before but very nice place very original Mike's place to hit if you want to tour of Mapleridge and they had lots the good quality and flavors of cheese is well worth a visit read more

This is one of my favourite places to bring guests for lunch. The menu is all very yummy and love the local aspect of the products. While I like to visit more in the summer and sit on the patio, winter is great too because of the amazing soups. My father had the poutine soup and wanted a second bowl! I am originally from Ontario and my family loves cheese curd, so I love that there is a place here that I can get fresh curd (Tuesday's after 3:30!!!) read more

I was excited to treat my friend to Tea since we hadn't seen each other in six months. I had eaten lunch here before and it was good, but since it was Wednesady, I thought why not try the tea. I was surprised at the start when I had to pay ahead when making reservations. But I figured the cooks would need to know the amount of food to prepare, so I booked a table for two. The presentation of everything was nicely done and the actually tea was delicious, but the food was bland. Most of the offerings were made of puff pastry and had some form of spinach on most of the savories. The scones were small and flavored with herbs and there was no cream or jam served. Having been to other teas in the Lower Mainland for the same price, this edible but without variety in taste. read more

Extraordinary experience. I'd booked for a Farewell lunch to honour a friend. The staff went above and beyond to make our occasion one that we'll never forget. They were so kind and gracious. The food was extraordinary. I asked permission to walk my dog as we'd driven along way. They agreed immediately. Their hospitality was exceptional. read more

I was really disappointed. I have come here before for lunch and was delighted but when I brought family and we ordered the special sandwiches and grilled cheese they served them on the end crusts which made for really small dry servings. My granddaughter couldn't eat her grilled cheese as it was all dried crusts! What a disappointment as I had the same items before and they were lovely. While we were eating 4 men came in and I saw the cook go to the back and make the exact sandwiches with fresh bread and they were double the size. Not to impressed I love to support local businesses. read more

This is the place where they make "their own cheese". The decoration is quite neat. There is a cafe space, and space for a cooking presentation. They also sell some other kitchen products. But those are additional feature. The main is the actual cheese product. I have tried several kinds of their cheese. Their products are mainly havarti and Gouda. Here is an unfortunate part. Their cheese is quite blend (as far as ones I have tried). For people who like smoked cheese (like me) it will be an additional disappointment because there are no smoked ones. 1) Gouda with Cranberry - interesting concept, but the taste was quite odd. I think the cranberry does go nicely with cheese. 2) Havarti with garlic and chives - cannot taste chives nor garlic. 3) Gouda with dill - this was quite nice. Maybe it is way too early too judge the place because this is quite new place. But for now, i am giving my rating. read more

Excellent products, with new cheeses being made. The aged cheeses have a lot of promise once this new shop starts selling their own. Try the quark cheese -- it's kind of like curds, delicious and interesting. Beautiful store, great service. I'll go back. read more
