After reading the reviews, we decided to try Golden Chopsticks. There were four of us, all with slightly different tastes. The interior of the restaurant is clean and neat and we were seated promptly. We ordered appetizers and soup and all was tasty. My wife ordered chicken with ginger and scallions and asked if she could have some brocolli with it The waitress took the time to understand that we didn't want to change the dish, just add some steamed brocolli. She then explained that she'd have to charge $2 additional and asked how my wife wanted the brocolli cooked. Nicely handled! My wife's dish was served surrounded by enough brocolli, nicely steamed, that we all partook. Everyone else's meal was fresh and tasty. A very pleasant meal with welcoming service. read more

I've never had a bad meal here! The staff is friendly and sweet, and they never hesitate to make substitutions (I'm the substitution queen . . .). Great, calm atmosphere, cute little place - this is ALWAYS my go-to restaurant. The veggies are really fresh (I think that they get them from the Chinese Grocery store that they own, next-door), the food is NEVER greasy, and they have such a great selection. Friends took us out to their local dimsum place, very nice selection of authentic Cantonese dimsum even a nice bowl of beef tendons and turnips. Dinner was excellent,they have a green menu with Chinese and more selection for those who need more than the standard Chinese American menu. We went here for takeout based on the reviews and am so disappointed! I spent $50 and had the worst meal ever. So bad I brought it all back to them and asked for a refund they gave 40% back so I spent $30 on food that they kept and I spit out. The chicken fingers were over cooked, the chicken and broccoli was bland, the won ton soup tasted like pigs feet, steamed won tons were mush inside. Need I say more? To top it off I was advised to next time I try a new restaurant to get a small amount of food instead of ordering a full meal, instead of I am sorry. It only took me about a week or two to head down to Westerly for dim sum once I learned that there was a restaurant that made it. I was happy to hear that they had nai wong bao on the menu - which was noticeably absent from my other new dim sum spot in West Warwick. I had intended to try the Chinese bakery in Westerly, primarily to see if they made nai wong bao - but since it was on the menu at Golden Chopstix, I figured I'd save the bakery stop for another Westerly visit. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, but he had absolutely no knowledge of the dim sum dishes, which was very frustrating. We ordered a pretty wide assortment of dim sum, most of which was pretty good. We also had the salted crispy squid appetizer which was quite tasty. We almost missed the squid as our waiter didn't know they made that dish....but luckily - I found it in the appetizer section of the menu. I knew I had seen it on their online menu. We had the shrimp rice noodles which were okay - but not what I wanted. Our waiter informed us that it was a misprint on the menu - which would have been nice of him to mention when we ordered it, but okay - he did say he knew nothing about the dim sum. The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf was tasty and served in very small portions. The size was actually perfect as that dish is often large and a bit much when you're trying to have a little bit of many things. The stuffed peppers were different than any other rendition of that dish I've had before. They used hot peppers and stuffed them with ground beef - which was the deliciously different surprise. The taro dumplings and siu mai were both tasty. The cilantro pork dumpling was super flavorful and was probably my favorite dim sum for the day. We doubled down on desserts since the bakery was out, and ordered the red bean paste bun and nai wong bao. The red bean bun has nice flavor but was very different from what I was used to getting in Little Tokyo LA. It was similar in appearance to a scallion pancake only it was stuffed with red bean paste. I was expecting the small, golden pillow-like disc stuffed with paste. The nai wong bao was steamed and I'm pretty sure was previously frozen and store bought- sub par and also very disappointing. All in all Golden Chopstix was pretty good, and I would go there again if I were in town, but if I'm making a special trip for dim sum - I would go up to West Warwick. If I do happen to make it back - I hope our waiter will have acquired some more knowledge about the menu - or would be willing to hand the table off to someone who is familiar with the dishes - like I asked for immediately upon being informed that he knew nothing about what we were there for. It was absolutely refreshing to find another Chinese restaurant in RI with more authentic - less Americanized offerings. read more

I am Chinese and I am selective in choosing chinese food. I felt very disappointed since I moved to CT for there is no good food in CT, until I found Golden Chopsticks. It is no doubt the best chinese restaurant in CT and RI! Of course no chinese restaurant in US is as good as a local one in mainland China. But Golden is still the best choice if you dont want to fly to China! The dim sun is as good as those in Hala Moon in Boston and the food is good too. I would recommend you try their bubble tea. This place is simply one of the best Asian restaurants I have been to in Rhode Island. Their dim sum is excellent, and has quite a variety to choose from. The duck and taro was quite a good dish as well. They also serve bubble tea which is another positive in my book. I have personally never been disappointed going to this restaurant or having takeout from here. They have consistently been absolutely delicious. Their food is always fresh and always takes 10 minutes tops for it to be ready. And it's a great place to sit down also if you want to go to the group. My family loves this place. We recently discovered it- in a goofy little strip mall- & everyone enjoys it. The Dim Sum has something for everyone & the price can't be beat. We love the Scallion pancakes & the buns with sticky filling (I think that's it)- my kids love the steamed pork buns & red paste buns as well as the standard fried dumplings & crab rangoons. There are some more interesting things on the menu if you're feeling adventurous. They also have a Chinese menu & "American" menu- which is hilarious. I am not going to drop 5 stars on this because I don't think they are doing anything better than "above average". That said, It is a strong 4! Even if you don't get totally swept away by the food, it is well prepared and fresh. It is also the best choice in the area for Chinese, and they seem to be very consistent. It is the first Dim Sum place I went to after moving to CT from NYC and and have been going here now for over 14 years, Great Dim Sum and many traditional authentic Chinese dishes are as good as NYC. We came here to try their dim sum. We had: Shuimai (shrimp and pork dumpling): tastes very good and they actually put the whole piece of shrimp on the top on the dumpling. One order has 4 dumplings. Pork bun: Very good. My husband thought that the pastry part was a little thicker than what he is used to, but that is actually my favorite part of any steamed bun. The pork itself has the really yummy sweet sauce. One order has 3 buns. House style Fried Tofu: It is 3 pieces of crispy fried tofu with pork on top and sitting in a sauce. My husband really enjoyed that dish. Fried Taro dumpling with shrimp and pork: Sooooo crispy! The filling is very traditional. We also ordered pork and preserved egg congee: We really liked that the egg and pork were not too salty and it has big pieces of pork. This bowl of congee is definitely enough for two people all by itself. (We brought the leftovers home for the next day's breakfast). The restaurant was empty, but it was probably because we came at an odd time between lunch and dinner. Our sever was very friendly and helpful with answering all of our questions. She even went to the kitchen to find out all the ingredients they use for the dipping sauce because we asked her because it was so good. They serve the best dim sum I've had in RI. Highlights on my meal there included the steamed bun with juicy pork (really xiaolongbao), sticky rice in lotus leaf (has a savory meat and mushroom filling), and AMAZING custard steamed buns which I will now crave obsessively. These are pillowy and light--they handle steamed buns exceptionally well--about the size of an egg, and filled with a mild vanilla custard. My husband and I shared the Peking duck, which was served with plain steamed buns (perfect fluffy pillows), mooshu pancakes, shredded scallions, and some really good hoisin sauce. We went here last Friday night after reading reviews on Yelp. I am not a fan of American Chinese food but this is not that at all. We stopped in here due to Yelp reviews and my brother had mentioned a place and this turned out to the one. We were there for the Dim Sum. We have been here twice on the way to the beaches in the area now. The food is very good. The shrimp/beef/ cilantro chow fun (rice noodle) were some of the best I have had. The noodle is freshly made and very light. The pork noodle I was expecting char sui (roast pork) in it, but was seasoned ground pork like the beef noodle. I thought the lo main gai was good not great, same on the sui mai. The lo bak goh was very good as was the har gau. The wife ( from Guangzhou) liked the maa tai gow. No BBQ pork bun on weekdays it seems. We also got the Beef chow foon. We will stop here on any future trips to the area, that is for sure. read more

I've pretty much only eaten the dim sum at Golden Chopsticks, but it is to die for! My boyfriend and I were going almost every weekend for a while. The service is exceptional- the waitstaff is very friendly and the food comes in a timely fashion. I have eaten dim sum at many places, including several in Boston and Seattle, but Golden Chopsticks has the most delectable by far. I highly recommend the steamed pork buns, the fried dough rice rolls, and of course, the shumai, among other items. The prices are very reasonable. We usually get 8 or 9 different items and the total is never more than $35. Enjoy! read more

We looked at the Chinese menus and it had everything you would find at a NY Chinatown restaurant.
