    Our take out dinner

Just went back as its been a few years and our regular place was closed today. This was our go to place before we moved to the town over. They did not disappoint. Food was great as always. We ordered on line this time and it was simple. Although I think they need to update their prices since what was quoted online was maybe $3 less than what they actually charged me. First time going here since Covid, and saw that they have no eat in, and the door is actually blocked. Took me a few seconds to figure out how to get the items, since the top of the door was plexiglass with a speaker in it. Saw that the lower part was like a cabinet door that opened and was a pass thru for food. Picked up a new menu, was told that they had just updated it last month.

It's Tuesday night and you just want some basic crave American Chinese food with all the sauce, sugar, oils and MSG! Don't lie this is what you CRAVE! This place is that! Don't be a Karen if they mix up your chicken rice with pork rice, move on! This ain't the Golden Dragon, it's the Chinese First Wok! Decent prices for pretty good Chinese food! I ain't mad at it! Orange Chicken was piping hot, egg roll was thicc and had a nice crisp ahell and fried rice tasted fresh! (They actually used a lot of fresh ingredients like orange peel and chopped onions/carrots, which was a nice touch)! COVID TIP: call ahead to place order or use website to place order and then pay when you get there. They aren't taking walk ins!

Came to Groton 6 years ago on a family trip to Mystic, my parents picked up the best Chinese food I've ever had. Came back on my own with a vengeance to find that amazing Chinese. I searched high and low, looked at pictures and reviews, everything. Bottom line, I don't actually know if this is the right joint, but I couldn't care less cause this Chinese food was to die for. Would drive 3 hours again lmao

I normally travel into new London to pick up my Chinese food but unfortunately I was hit with covid and needed something to deliver to me. I took a chance and ordered from here despite the reviews. I decided to go with the safest thing possible- Chicken wings w/ pork fried rice and a wonton soup. How could you mess that up, right? $18... plus I added a $3 tip not knowing they included a $2 delivery fee in the total. ‍ $21 for these "wings" Poor little guys looked a little on the anorexic side. Tossed it right in the trash.

I really wanted to relax & enjoy some American Chinese takeout. Unfortunately, the pandemic has hit many of the local restaurants hard & I drove to 5 different ones & they were all closed at 8 pm on a Saturday night. I found Chinese First Wok locates next to Planet Fitness. This place has taken the utmost safety & food handling precautions to provide their Chinese food to the public. They created 2 small walk up windows to exchange the food & money to the public. They ask that people call in their order & you can pick up. I ordered a large chicken & broccoli & it was very good. The Vegetables were wok fried & cooked perfectly in a light brown sauce with bones less skinless chicken pieces. The won ton soup was very good with at least 6 large won tons in a wonderful light chicken broth with some chives. The egg roll was very good, stuffed with cabbage & chicken, shrimp. It was slightly sweet which was not the norm. It may have been an anomaly. I will try one again another time. I thoroughly enjoyed all items. All 3 items were $14.75 which Zi thought was pretty reasonable. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely Italy order from here again!

$25 for a quart of beef & broccoli, a quart of orange chicken, and a pint of wonton soup (which had 4 large wontons) All tasted pretty great - just like you'd expect these dishes to taste, well seasoned, not too salty like some other Chinese take-out. About 25 minutes from online order until delivery. Simple online ordering, but to pay by card you have to enter your credit card number and expiration date in an unsecured "notes" section, then your card number is printed on the invoice that comes with the the delivery driver. They scratch it out with pen, but it's still readable. Hopefully they'll update their website with a secure way to pay with a card.

What is that...? Thats not chicken

Horrible horrible horrible. I ordered sesame chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. This is most definitely not chicken, its 80% fat. The rice tastes like cardboard. I was excited when I saw the other reviews. Extremely dissapointed. Ended up throwing it out and buying a new lunch elsewhere.

Entrees were both bad. Would only recommend the soup, donuts and white rice. We got takeout.

I eventually ordered a mango lassi($6) ,gobi honey cauliflower($8), and dhal goat curry with roti($19). The fried cauliflower was surprisingly really good, freshly fried with a nice sweet honey glaze. The goat curry was also quite good and had a nice amount of heat. It dipped really well with the roti! Overall a fantastic experience here, staff was super nice and the food was also amazing! Definitely worth checking this out ! Food(50%): 8.6 Staff/service(25%): 9.5 Value(25%): 8.5 Overall: 8.8/10

I still love eating out, but it's fairly rare that I'm actually surprised by a dish that I ordered. The honey inflected cauliflower dish with just a hint of garlic was the marked improvement on Gobi Manchurian that I didn't know I needed in my life. It's Gobi Honey Garlic on the menu. Order it. I know I plan to once more before I leave Connecticut. This dish is great because it carries a number of flavors I would expect to contrast and somehow marries them perfectly. I've been eating cauliflower dishes for years with fried Lebanese cauliflower and an absolutely decadent version in a random Mexico City restaurant being my favorites. This one lands directly squarely between those preparations as my second favorite all time (Tetetlan is still the overall winner). I only ordered the blackened pork curry as a main dish and it was tasty in its own right. On another visit, I'd like to savor even more dishes and possibly try their crab curry. Everything coming out of that kitchen was absolute fire. So far, this has been my favorite dining experience in the entire state of Connecticut. Sure, it's not as fancy as Olea, or maybe as iconic as a lobster roll at Captain Scott's, but it's definitely the best rendition of Sri Lankan cuisine I have found in the States. I'm so glad I went here.
