I'm not in the habit of reviewing fast food unless I receive truly terrible service OR exceptional service. This review falls in the exceptional bucket. My last few visits to pick up my sons chicken tender meals have been good, but today as I was picking up a family fried chicken meal because my husband was craving, I got really really great service through the drive through. I didn't get that "anything else, anything else, okay anything else" rushed tone when I was ordering. When I asked for the seasoning packets that make stuff a little spicy, the person at the window (I think it was the same person that took my order over the intercom) actually offered to make the fried chicken spicy if I would rather. I thought that it was really lovely to offer something to make my meal better. They had to whip up a batch of fries for my order and this person came to the window and apologized for my wait. Really great manners. Good job hiring the right people Golden Chick! Editing and removing a star. After I drove off I realized I was missing and order of okra and had to go inside and grab it. Not a huge deal but I was really disappointed made it all the way home and realized that our fried chicken family meal was missing all 6 rolls. I went to Golden Chick on Wednesday, Feb 25th. I ordered 2 dinners. 1 catfish and shrimp, the other catfish, with 2 sides instead of a drink. I ordered Mac and cheese, and coleslaw. I got home to find out they did not put the coleslaw in the bag with the dinners. This has happened in the past. The employee brought the dinners out to my car, one would have thought she'd had checked to order. When I got home, I called the number to the store. The recording stated that the mailbox was full. Holy cow, if there was a way to give zero stars, I would. We went to this location and spent nearly $70. The gal working the drive thru truly didn't like her job, and made sure that we all were treated the way she felt about her job. We tried to look past that, as people have bad days. The food though, the food was a disaster, and we can't excuse the poor customer service and the subpar food. The baked chicken was cold, not just room temp or warm, but cold and dry, like it had been sitting for hours. The french fries were cold, again, not even room temp, but chilly to the touch. The sauces that we asked for weren't there. The food quite literally wasn't edible and we ended up throwing it away, to avoid the disgusting, cold, dry stuff that they tried to pass off to us, and to avoid getting a possible sickness with aged old food that was poorly cooked. When I tried to contact the store, I was given "free" food (2 meals, but we ordered 4 that couldn't be eaten) but had only 7 days to use it. First of all, free food to a place that gave us horrible food, didn't seem inviting, and to be forced back w/in 7 days when the experience was so bad and still so fresh just wasn't in the cards. There shouldn't be a time limit on customer service, and you shouldn't feel pressured to go back to a place that treated you so badly in such a short period of time. I don't know if you've ever gotten sick from a restaurant before, even if it wasn't the fault of the restaurant, but that was the last place that you ate at, and you attribute that food with your sickness...that is how we are feeling. I heard the dirty rice was great at this Fast Food Restaurant. it was less than desirable & the golden chicken sandwich was the worst thing I've probably eaten in my entire very long life. Do they serve real chicken? Do they ever change the oil in their fryer? It tasted & smelled like old oil & I am still not convinced they use real chicken. If you want to truly ask me what can be improved I don't think that this review would allow me enough words!!! We give y'all a chance again and after waiting 15 mins for our chicken you give us fried rather than rotisserie!!!! The whole reason we drove to this chicken place was for the rotisserie. The manager hands me the bag.....says out of her mouth... 8 piece rotisserie chicken and dirty rice. To which I said yes. We get all the way home to serve my Mom ( that can't have fried chicken) and open the box and it's all fried chicken. Then you try to call them back and of course..... They don't answer the phone! Today I went to Golden chick and asked for the #3 combo, but I would like all white meat. However, I was refused and told that I could not order the # 3 because it was a mixed combo. I explained that I have always ordered the #3 for the last 2 years since I been in Midlothian, and I have never been refused that they usually charge me a sub charge for purchasing all white meat and that would be okay with me. However today I was told that I could not purchase an all-white combo because it's not on the menu. Due to that I will not be visiting Golden chick anymore. This is the first time in history that at any chicken location that I was refused service due to me wanting to make changes to my order that I was willing to pay for. read more

It's hit or miss for me with this Golden Chick location. I've had hot, crispy chicken and sides on most days but other days it seems to be the last of what they plan to sell for the day. This location needs serious attention. Customer service is not even bad it's awful. Golden chick is one of our favorites but this location just keeps disappointing. We decided to try again, hoping the service would be better this time and our order would be actually right. We stopped by this afternoon and waited so long that we turned off the car, we just decided to wait. We made sure not to drive off until we checked the bag, order was all there. But we ended up with a hair inside the bread, my daughter bit the bread and the long hair came out of inside as she pulled it out with her teeth. That did it for all of us, completely disgusted! My friend loves the hot wings here. On a fast food whim, the hubs and I stopped by last night and ordered hot wings and the fried jalapeño poppers. They warned us it would take 13 minutes. (Hey, sure, why not? At least you know it's fresh fried.). It was less than 13 minutes and they were great. Plump juicy chicken, hot, crispy! And, that special sauce that they make is legit. Kudos! I ordered my food and was missing a whole meal (4 piece tender with corn nuggets so about a $15 meal) and called them and the lady accused me of lying and kept insisting she packed the order. Awesome! We read the reviews but we decided to give it a try, we really wanted fried chicken. So glad we did! We found our new local fried chicken joint! We ordered the 8 piece dinner with 2 sides and 4 rolls. The chicken was fresh from the fryer, so were the sides. The rolls were fresh as well. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We went inside to order. We got home to eat, chicken was great! Hot, crispy and moist. Thankful we have someplace local! read more

A new Golden Chick in town to compete with Chicken Express. Disappointed is the best way I can describe my feelings. I got the 3 piece catfish with coal slaw. As you can see in my pic, the catfish are not fillets. They are very small cut in half fillets. The coal slaw was ok. The rolls are good. Don't waist your time on this $9+ (after taxes) ripoff. Go to Chicken Express. Larger fillets as well as most of the time you get an extra fillet at no extra cost. read more

Finally after calling and getting corporate involved I finally got my money that was 5 months of service. Not sure I would of ever got it from them unless I got the corporate office involved. The owner needs a leason on how to run a business cause this is not how to run one.... The reviews speak very badly about food and service. If I could give them a Zero star I would, multiple times they have messed my order. Now I try again and they are "apparently" out of Zing Sauce, Gravy, Zing packets, and Honey Mustard. Also you can't get a extra roll for some dumb reason, then wanna also say catfish is a 10 minute wait after I waited 30 minutes in line. If zero stars were an option, I'd give this place zero stars. I do not recommend this location. We ordered our meal through the mobile app and waited 40 minutes in the drive thru line to get our food. They also forgot one of our drinks. When we got out of the car to go inside to tell them about it, the doors were all locked! There was no way we were going to wait in that line again. There were about 5 cars in line. HORRIBLE! Stopped in last night about 7:00pm (6/2/21) to pickup some catfish to take home. The inside area had all their lights off & I could tell quickly they were concentrating only on the drive through service. A woman walked in before I did & we stood there for a minute or two and only got a few looks from the crew, no one stepped up to take our order. Typical pathetic fast food service. Showed up today and waited forever in the drive thru for a response. Told to pull up to the window.. all to wait for 5 minutes for no one to ever come to it. Pulled around to side of building to go inside. Door was locked with worker outside on her phone saying she was the only one working. This restaurant sucks and the customer service is HORRIBLE. Managers, if there's any have no concept of what their supposed too do? Crew members are rude and it took patience to deal with them. I expect to get a warm welcome and a thank you for coming into your restaurant not have to watch and listen to your employees argue with each other. If you want to burn up your whole lunch break sitting in a drive thru line then this is the place for you. One problem I see is, as soon as you pull up to the speaker they ask you to hold every time without fail. They are collecting money during this time from the car in front of you I guess. If they would multitask like other fast food establishments and go ahead and take your order so the cook can start on it while they are taking money or even just before, then I think a lot of lag would be cut out. Make sure you remind them to give you a fork for your salad and napkins otherwise, you'll be eating it with your fingers and licking the rance off after...Other then that, the food is great! You might as well just go to chicken express across the street. They give you much larger portions and it has much better service. They have pretty much the same menu, other than the special zesty sauce. And sometimes chicken express gives you extra chicken free of charge. read more
