From the moment we walked through the door, the experience was top-tier. The female manager greeted my husband and me with the warmest welcome, making us feel genuinely appreciated for coming in. That alone set the tone -- I knew right then we were in for something special. The location was easily accessible and inside was clean and the bathrooms were very clean as well (as noted when I washed my hands). We ordered a family meal to go, and the young man at the counter was a true gem! He patiently helped us walk through the menu, never rushing us, and encouraged us to take our time. That level of customer service is rare these days and so appreciated. Now let's talk about the food -- WOW. The chicken was fresh, juicy, crispy, and absolutely delicious. I haven't had chicken this good in a long time. The family-size fries and fried okra were piping hot and full of flavor -- clearly made fresh to order. But the star of the show? Those warm, golden, fluffy yeast rolls! We got four with our meal, but I ordered extras because I knew my family would be fighting over them -- and I was right. I went to Golden Chick in Brownwood Texas, and it was not a good experience. I paid 17.83 for dried out chicken that had to have been at least 3 hours old, the Mac and cheese was almost burnt. The best thing was the side salad, tea, and the roll. The rest was disgusting. Couldn't eat the chicken, after the first bite, it was so dry, and tough, you had to chew it, for at least 3 minutes, just to get it to go down without choking on it. I usually eat there whenever I go to Brownwood, and most of the time the food is great, I don't know what happened this time. read more

When I went inside requesting for more sauce had to pay 1.88 for 6 more barbecue dipping sauce. I have now been to this place twice, both times trying the fried catfish, normally my favorite. It was freshly cooked, but the fish itself was old and spoiled, both times. This is probably caused by poor management trying to stretch the stock. Plus, obviously the grease was old. This place needs a new and better manager, who can teach the employees about proper food storage and grease use. The employee who took my order was polite and friendly, but this is meaningless if the food itself is spoiled. They need to *stop* before they make someone sick. The food is great and the employees are so nice at this location! The service here is 10x better than any other golden chick I've been to. Also had a very speedy and efficient experience! We will return. EDIT: I only quickly glanced over my food but once actually looking it was obvious they care about customer satisfaction. I always order a six piece spicy tender and at any other location I've been they either just throw spicy packets in or do a poor job of spreading the zing powder. The chicken was hot, but that was the only good thing. You could tell from the crust on the chicken that the fryer oil needed changing. The dirty rice was a sodden lump the consistency of cold oatmeal - it had been on the steam table WAY too long. Same for the green beans - they were disintegrating into mush. Last week I went through the drive through and ordered a 3 piece all dark combo with a side piece of fish. Once I got home to willow park I realized my order was completely wrong. All white meat and I don't eat white meat. I called the store and spoke to the manger just to let them know they need to pay attention. I did complement them on how nice the girl was at the window. The manger remembered my order and apologized said the girl was new who packed the order. No biggie! It happens. The manager said they have a complaint board and to make it up she would put my name on the board and my order and anytime I come in I could get the makeup order free. Well today (8.17.18) I was in the area and decided to stop. I was greeted by K.J. (Another manager) she was nice until I told her I was picking up a free meal and it was due to a complaint. She instantly had an attitude and her entire body language changed. She asked me over and over what the complaint was. I told her that it was because my order was wrong. I told her my info should be on the board. Then I told her exactly what the mishap was. She tells me that they don't usually get orders wrong. I respond asking her if she is stating that I'm lying about a $9 meal? Meanwhile I'm standing in front of her with a 4 carat diamond ring on my hand!!! We randomly stopped by this location during our 1st trip to Possum Kingdom lake. This location was busy (but very efficient) and I definitely know why. I have been to many golden chick and this location tasted like a restaurant quality food vs fast food. The employees (particularly the Asian lady at the cashier) was extremely nice. She gave us fresh chicken strip straight out of the fryer. In fact, everything we ordered was fresh and hot. Additionally, the quality of the chicken was big and moist not like other locations. Drive through. I don't normally eat fast food but this was close to a home cooked meal! I was tired after work and didn't feel like cooking. The sides are typical for the venue EXCEPT for the dirty rice which is abs fabs. I find myself craving it to the point of hitting the drive thru just to get that.
