Come for the Malt and stayed because of the nice employees. Got a couple of burgers, fries, tots and a chocolate malt. The nice employees made this experience a little better. The burgers were a tad underwhelming and can be gotten at any Whataburger. The fries were not crispy and almost seemed stale. The tots were very good though. The chocolate malt was fabulous though. From time that I got there to the time I got my food the wait time was around 1 hour. The staff was very apologetic about the situation. read more

Been coming here for years... and the new ownership has changed so much!!! Two times ago... I got a BLT with Mayo and not mustard as ordered. Last time they didn't cut a grilled cheese in half for a kid. I tore it in half... This time I realized we aren't charging menu prices... we are upcharging from what the menu actually says and nowhere does it say Cash Prices on Menu... no where does it say anything of the such. But according to the very young manager, it says cash pricing on Facebook. Not sure if I will come here again... there are other small businesses that can add a simple "Cash Price" to their menu. Signs are important... and they should match and reflect what is said... $5 for a BLT plus another .20 for my debit card is a lot.... Then a small order of pickles listed at $3.50 and I may get 10 pieces... and upcharged to $3.64. I could have gone and gotten cash hidden from my truck. I wanted the option to decide and that was taken.... Then you have the snarky manager with the nose ring who has no business being a snarky manager. Food isn't exactly what we call freshly fried... unless we call it freshly fried from the freezer. This is literally with everything. Their ice cream malts are good but cost about $7 a malt. We are being priced out and can't even get nice customer service for the high lunch bill. She now wants to blame the kid behind the register because he didn't ask cash or card. .34 cents difference ... adds up when everyone is doing it and the choice for me to pick is taken away. Which that just happened... The hidden crap... just add menu cash and cc prices... not that hard. Could be simply 3% price increase for debit and credit transactions. But not there and not even close to obvious and everyone is looking at me... so not going back to get the menu pic... but if the owner cares... they will see this, own it and make the changes that are way past simple. read more

Well it's official the old Malt Shop is no more! We've been going there for 30 years, every year on our way to Poolville. I guess since our visit in 2025 it was taken over by new owners. Not as good as it was! Very disappointed. Fries no idea what or how they make the fries, bun was hard, patty was a lot thicker & the old malt shop taste was gone. What a shame! Maybe that was why all the cars were down @ Skinny's. Will really miss it! We looked forward to eating there every year! read more

Love this place! Slide back into a 50's vibe and park your car under an undercover. You have to get out and go to window to order, and if you like you can even watch them make your food while you sit on a picnic bench. Of you can ever time it right, one of my favorite times to go is when you have a good rain going on that's missing a breeze! Love to sit outside and eat while you hear the rain hit the undercover! Fun! Burgers are good! They are thick and more of a homemade style. But the shakes are fantastic! lots of flavors, and I prefer them over Braum's and Sonic. Really good! Fine the Malt Shop a 5 star rating because the nostalgia they've preserved is all but gone these days. Definitely worth a trip and I don't consider this fast food. This is Americana! Left us standing there for almost 20 mins. Workers just standing around. Something abt the register not sending things to the kitchen that is 2 feet away. We could still pay, instead of making us stand there they could put our order in, pay us out, and write the order down and give it to the cooks. There was only 3 other customers there compared to the almost 10 workers. We just ended up leaving. Edit: In the 20mins we stood there, no we didn't get to speak to anyone because no one would talk to us, not any we will be right with you or any apology for the wait or explanation to why we where standing there. Adding onto the fact one older lady was fussing at the two youngest (the only ones trying). I assume because they are being trained, even so you don't talk to your workers that way. Please consider what I said abt writing the order down, As long as you can still pay for your food through the machine, which they could do. read more

If you're looking for a old fashion hamburger place with no-frills this is the place for you. I had a cheeseburger, onion rings and a strawberry milkshake. The cheeseburger and onion rings were ok nothing to get excited about . But my strawberry milkshake was delicious! I would definitely go back and skip the meal just get a large milkshake!! read more

Service was terrible. I paid for a chocolate malt and they gave me a cup of basically choc ice cream. I asked them to make it thin and was told to let it melt. It's 40 degrees outside it's not just going to melt. I then went back again and asked them to remake it. The young man with big hair the argued with me for a solid 3-4 mins after telling me to buy another one. The manager then told him to make me a new one, which was a tiny bit thinner, but no malt. My husband and I are both handicapped and we tried to order a burger thru the window and they refused to take our order. The lady said we would HAVE to walk to the window and then when they call our order we could get back in line and come pick up our food. If there are people in line by the time we do that our burger would be cold. They don't want anyone handicapped or not able to walk up and get their food. That's a shame. Terrible customer service, upon getting to the drive thru window the lady working couldn't be bothered to acknowledge me, let alone say hello. As for taking my order it was like pulling teeth. This is only the second time I've been since the Malt Shop changed hands and I was disappointed. The service was good and I got my coney fairly quickly, but I finished it before I got my large chocolate malt. So, I took the malt to the truck to have on the way home. It tasted like ready freeze out of a machine, barely any chocolate flavor, and not even a hint of malt. Bring back the real malts and I'll come back, but until then I'll stick to Braum's. read more

We took a ride in the country and some friends said we had to stop here. I'm so glad we did. This was a little taste of history. On a Saturday afternoon is was definitely busy. So be prepared to wait but it's well worth it. There's a old school drive thru that creeps along because they make it to order. We ordered from the walk up window and enjoyed some great classic tunes that plays outside. There's pretty much everything in the menu too. We ordered a couple cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings. Then my wife had a vanilla malt and I chose the strawberry shake. There's plenty of room at the picnic tables that are under a cover too. It all came out about 29 minutes later in a brown paper bag. The burgers were really good and especially liked how they toasted the buns. Now my fries weren't bad but nothing to write home about. Let's talk about those AMAZING onion rings. I could order just those and make a meal out of them. Incredible flavor and great crunchy outside. I loved my star berry shake. Got the small and couldn't have made enough room for the large. My wife said her vanilla malt were awesome too! All this for around $25. That's cheaper than ordering the same at McDonald's. Love that they are reasonable. Finally under new management in recent years, the Malt Shop is making a come back with class. I had the cheeseburger, fries, and a Peach Milkshake. The cheeseburger was delicious but let's be real the star of the show was really the Peach Milkshake. It was thick, it was creamy, and it was made with fresh Weatherford peaches. The shakes here are so good. The hamburgers are nothing over the top - just a good fulfilling hamburger. The service - and it could just be the day we went and the young lady that took our order - but it was AWFUL. I'm hoping she was just having one of those days and is friendlier than what we received because she was extremely rude to my husband and myself. There was some miscommunication about one of the hamburger's order, which happens, but when we asked for the missing items for the hamburger, the young lady came from the order window and was very snappy and short with us. If you're Weatherford way this is a great place to grab a bite! It's old and looks old...gives it character. No dine in and no delivery to your car. There are a few picnic tables outside that have also seen better days. The food is delicious though...it's a thin pattied burger - probably one of my favorite. The bun is nice and crisp off the grill. Great fries, shakes & malts. Gotta go with extra malt in that baby. 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are always as slow as next Christmas so just dont be I'm a hurry when you visit. read more

I stopped by because it is a malt shop and I haven't had a malt forever. The place was packed too so it must be good, right? And, it is good! I didn't get a malt though. I was sold when I saw a sign for black licorice ice cream. Where else can you get that? It was a tough choice between a malt and black licorice though. I also ordered their special of chicken fried steak dinner. The food was OK. Nothing to rave about. The ice cream was delicious though. The place is an old drive in like those in the 50s. There is no carhop so you place your order at the window and wait till they call your name when your order is ready. Staff was friendly. Service was prompt. Prices are very reasonable. COVID---plenty of space to social distance. The majority of the customers wore masks and kept their distances. The employees did not. Not one of them. If that's a major concern for you then this place might not be for you during this pandemic. read more

One star, as I wasn't even allowed to try the place. We were passing through on the way back to Dallas when we saw the shop and it looked like it would probably have awesome malts. We pulled into the line at around 4:50, not knowing they closed at 5:00. I mean, we had never been there and didn't expect an ice cream place to close at FIVE O'CLOCK on a Sunday, so it was reasonable to think we were there with plenty of time to spare. We waited in line for around 15 minutes, when a lady came up to our window and said, "so, we close at 5 and the car in front of you is going to be our last customer, today". You can't make one more friggin malt, considering we were in line before 5? How difficult would that be for you? Oh well, when a place of business can't even be courteous and take one minute to make one more customer happy, forget them. It's not the end of the world, but I certainly won't stop there again. read more
