Based on the yelp reviews, I'd say quality of food and service is spotty here. I don't want to…read morerecommend this place and have someone following my recommendation have a bad experience, as it seems a lot of people do. Heh...and it seems I finished my meal and got up and left before I finished my review. I had vegetable yaki udon (which my phone heard as "vegetable yucky udon" ) and edamame. I enjoyed both. It was not an "Oh my dog!" swooning experience, but it was good. The woman who seated and served me initially did indeed disappear entirely about halfway through my meal; happily, a gentleman in a flannel shirt and down vest took over for her, coming over to ask if everything was alright and, upon my request, to refill my drink. The woman, I believe, has a reputation for not doing those things, but I was taken care of despite her negligence. (This is also the woman who insists that the customer sign the credit card receipt produced after they use tap-to-pay with their phone...one of the whole reasons for the existence of which mechanism is that it's touchless...meaning that you don't have to touch your credit card, you don't have to touch the credit card reader, and you don't have to touch a pen, because, as it says right at the bottom of the receipt in bold capital letters, "NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED". But this woman will not allow the customer to attempt to cloud the issue with facts, insisting instead that the very reason you must sign the receipt is that you used tap-to-pay with your phone. Okay. Whatever.) Anywho...I had a nice meal. And I was surprised to hear what sounded, to my distorted hearing, like 90's shoegaze playing over the sound system. (I think I have the genre right there - it was reminiscent of Cocteau Twins and that sort of thing. And I'm sure I heard Morrissey in there too. Unexpected almost anywhere these days, and definitely so, and kind fun, in an Asian restaurant.)

I enjoyed my usual small bowl of Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup ($8.00) with tender dumplings, egg noodles, scallions, cilantro, and crispy shallots in a flavorful broth. Best ever. Upon my recommendation, we both ordered the Shaking Beef, or Bò Lúc Lắc, ($25.) which is a delicious Vietnamese dish of marbled cubes of beef tossed in all the good stuff: soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, a little sugar, butter, garlic, and black pepper. Everything is shaken around in the wok to get a nice all-around sear, hence the name...Shaking Beef! We enjoyed it with Brown Rice instead of Jasmine. Kudos: The cubed filet mignon was cooked perfectly; it was tender and pink in middle. Outstanding! Two reactions: --I did not like the lime dipping sauce because it was very salty (grains of Sea Salt intact)served in a small dish that was on the plate, so next time I will order another type of sauce. However, the beef was flavorful without it. --There were too many sliced red onions and not enough spring onions. Our two orders to go (Pho with Filet and Chicken Wings) were ready when we finished lunch. Grandsons were delighted! Service was efficient and courteous as usual.

We arrived just as they opened and receiver quick service. The server was attentive bringing out all the sides needed for the pho, we also had some spring rolls to start and which were a perfect way to begin. If you told me I'd find some of the best seafood of my life in landlocked Southern Vermont, I…read moreprobably wouldn't have believed you--but Anchor Seafood House & Grille is the real deal. This place has been a Wilmington staple since 1997, and you can tell they've spent the last nearly 30 years perfecting the craft. The atmosphere is incredible. While the original 1850s building was lost to a fire in 2010, the current space is a beautiful, faithful replica that feels historic and cozy. It's the perfect spot for a post-ski dinner or a summer night out. Here's the breakdown of what you need to order: The Chowder: This is proper New England clam chowder. It's thick, rich, and loaded with clams--not just a bowl of potatoes and heavy cream. It's the ultimate comfort food. Steamers: You have to start with the steamers. They are clean, sweet, and served the traditional way with a side of broth and drawn butter. It's a messy, delicious classic that they do perfectly here. Whole Belly Clams: These are the gold standard. They're lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and have that sweet, briny pop you usually only find at a roadside shack on the Maine coast. If you're a fan of "the bellies," don't skip these. The Lobster: I went for the steamed lobster, and it was impeccable. Succulent chunks of fresh meat and just the right amount of butter. It tasted like it was caught that morning. It's rare to find a spot that balances a "fancy night out" feel with such unpretentious, high-quality food. Whether you're a local or just passing through for the foliage, make sure you stop here.

It was off-season in the area so many places haven't been busy. Luckily they asked if we were okay with the bar. Most definitely okay with the bar! We actually got pretty good attention when sitting at the bar. I ordered the Broiled Seafood Sampler because I like seafood and anytime I can get a variety in a dish, I'll go for that. The sampler consisted of haddock, salmon, scallops, and shrimp. The dish contained plenty of the fish and only two pieces each of the scallops and shrimp. The dish was not what I was expecting because of the crumb topping and creamy sauce. It was fine. We definitely got a good portion and the linguine with garlic and oil was fantastic! It was definitely garlicky, just the way I like it.
