It was clear from our first…read moreconversation that he has been working as a tutor for many years, and is familiar with many learning styles and approaches. As a working professional who has been out of school for some time, preparing to take the GMAT/GRE for graduate school has been a bit of a nightmare. I tried studying independently for a few months, with little success. I then signed up for an expensive group prep course, only to find that the material was covered far too fast, and the homework load was out of scale with my available time. I have had a few sessions with Zach so far, and each one has taught me more about how I learn, and what I need to learn. The one-on-one teaching scenario is exactly what I needed to not be overwhelmed. Each lesson is tailored to work with my own learning style and struggles. Zach has gone out of his way to check in with me between appointments, and create tools that will aid me in my independent studies. I feel more confident about my ability to cover the material needed for the test, and more importantly I feel more emotionally equipped to tackle the learning material that a few months ago felt out of reach. After seeing how Zach has adjusted his learning tactics to suit my specific needs, I feel confident that he would be able to do the same with other students. I would highly recommend Zach to anybody that is struggling with some aspect of their education: studying for a standardized test, catching up in an academic class, or anything else. I will write another review after I take the GMAT this fall!

Zach took the time to develop a mutually respectful relationship with his tutee. Zach's careful, methodical approach paid off. My son looked forward to each tutoring session. After each appointment, he was optimistic and confident in the progress he was making. Zach helped him identify his strengths and develop strategies to improve his performance. Zach was patient and empathetic. He helped my son create a study plan that accommodated my son's many other academic and extra-curricular commitments. Zach has a responsive, adaptive tutoring method. He discovered my son's learning style and adapted his tutoring approach accordingly. My son's SAT scores improved substantially*. Even more importantly, he learned a number of strategic test-taking skills, which he reports have improved his performance on other school exams. *January 2012: 2080 (CR 680; Math 690; Writing 710; Essay Subscore 9; MC Subscore 70) March 2012: 2280 (CR 680; Math 800; Writing 800; Essay Subscore 11; MC Subscore 76)

Working with Trevor and Yash for MCAT coaching was an amazing experience. Whenever I had questions…read moreabout a certain topic/problem, adjusting my study schedule, or being overly neurotic about my progress, Yash was always just a text or call away to reassure me and answer my questions. For example, in the last few weeks of studying my AAMC full length scores progressed from a 516 to 519 to 516 to 513. The trend from a 519 to 513 definitely made me anxious, and it felt like I was hitting a slump in my studying. However, Yash was quick to let me know that full length scores aren't static, reassuring me that I'm scoring within the expected standard deviation around my average of 516. He told me that each full length is different in difficulty, advising me to take an extra day off each week to refocus myself and really hone in on why I might've got more questions wrong. This definitely helped clear my mind and I actually began to feel grateful for scoring a 513, because I was able to identify gaps in my content/test taking strategies that I didn't even know I had. Subsequently, my scores on the last two AAMC full lengths went back up from a 514 to 518! At the end of my studying, I felt satisfied that I've done everything I could to prepare for this test, and that no matter what happened on test day, I was confident in getting a score that would give me a good shot at an acceptance to medical school. Overall, I don't think I would've made it as far as I did without his support--Yash has been an amazing coach!

I spent over 1000 on tutoring services from him and they did not help me at all. Trevor was very hard to talk to, no small talk at all ever, so you feel like complete strangers the entire time. I felt awkward during our sessions and as if I was bothering him. I chose him from all of the good reviews he had, but ended up having the exact opposite experience... so wanted to warn you all.

HSA tutoring is a fraudulent service…read more Dont be blindsided by how they market themselves on the website as being top tier Harvard students or the fact they only employ the best for tutoring. which is a lie they employ any homeless person and brand them as high achieving Harvard students. The reality is they employ individuals who don't care about tutoring. An even less about you as the client. All the agency is interested in taking money from clients. I failed my assignment after taking up a tutoring service with HSA. Yes you heard right failed. Yet they claim they are Harvard rising stars. I was assigned a tutor a month before my assignment was due which was very reasonable. however, the tutor they assigned me didnt respond to my emails for weeks and only contacted me couple of days before my assignment was due to fit me in at 8pm at night. What a complete joke of a service !!! Honestly HSA is a con, stay well away from this place, other wise you will be deceived. Take your kid to a reliable tutoring service !

She worked with three different tutors throughout the package, Christine, Daniela, and Iman. They were all great and very communicative in terms of scheduling, and so was the HSA coordinator team. Did an outstanding job of listening to all feedback and making any needed adjustments, and the one time an online session was required due to scheduling, everything went super smoothly. Iman especially is outstanding! Our daughter made great strides working with her, getting through tons of material, honing testing skills, and building the kind of confidence that can really make or break the big day. She's amazing at giving day and week of prep advice above and beyond pen and paper. Thanks for all your hard work, HSA Tutoring!

I completed the GRE course in spring 2012 and it was a worthwhile investment. I scoured the…read moreinternet for reviews on the different test prep companies for a couple days before coming across Manhattan Prep GRE. There wasn't much information about the classes, but a lot about the company's test prep books, which were highly rated. I thought about getting just the books, but I had done that a few years ago with the Kaplan books and never followed through. So I signed up for the free intro class in hopes that I'd be more motivated and receive guidance on how to study. From the first class, I had a sense that this was going to really prepare me. So although the course was expensive, I signed up. Julia was my instructor and from the very beginning she was warm, straightforward, and insightful. It's obvious she's brilliant, but not in the 'look at me I score perfect on the GRE without even trying' type of way. She works hard. She's very familiar with the questions on the test and gives clear cut guidance on how to prepare. During that first session I received a course outline. This was helpful as it identified which sections to prioritize. Most weeks I wasn't able to get all of the assigned work completed, but I did what I could and I still got a lot out of class. I would recommend that you at least complete the high priority assignments so that you can get your questions answered in class. The company was also quite responsive. After signing up I received the box of the test guides in only a couple days. The shipment was very fast. When I was out of town for a couple sessions the company was great at getting me scheduled for makeup sessions. I took these sessions through live online courses. You do receive access to online recordings of each class through enrolling so you can also use those if you miss a class. I didn't use them, but it was good to know they were there. I did use the online practice tests and the online flash cards. For the times that I needed to be on the go, I downloaded the e-book versions of the test prep guides onto my laptop. It can be tedious to carry the big books around, especially because there are over 8. Overall I'm really happy I found Manhattan Prep. Like the reviews said, the prep guides and online practice exams are top-notch. The practice exams show you the specific areas in which you're performing well and need to improve. They also give you information about the time it's taking you to complete each problem. I had more than enough practice. Julia's instruction took my preparation over the top. She really set me off in the right direction and kept me on track. She scores your practice essays, reviews the results of your practice exams, and drills you each week. The classes are held at a nice hotel in Harvard Square. As I predicted, being in a class gave me more motivation to follow through. Once the classes were done, I checked in with Julia to set up my study plan for the next 5 months. I didn't follow it exactly because of work, but I completed mot of it. I wound up taking the exam in November of 2012 and I had no anxiety. I slaughtered the verbal section and kept up with the math, both of which were great improvements for me. I would recommend this class to anyone needing a kick in the butt to get started with their GRE studying and/or wanting a proven method of success. If you do enroll: bring an extra layer because its cold in the room and take Julia up on her offers to review your exams and score your essays.
