When I finally decided that I would start taking Japanese, as someone who works, finding the right option was crucial for me. I needed the right time, the right location and the right price. I am so, so very happy that I found Sachiko Sensei and the Japanese Language Class Boston. They not only offer classes but have awesome activies with students that really immerse you in the Japanese culture. All the teachers are all wonderful. They are very patient and kind. They really are a great representation of their home country. The classes are a great size, so you really get one-on-one support from your teachers. The largest class I was in had approximately 6 people, including myself. I recently took my very first trip to Japan in March 2013 and felt very at home, even though I went alone. My tutor Kayo Sensi prepped me right up until the day before I left. She gave me all of the information that I would need, plus gave me contact numbers for her friends/family in Japan in case I got lost or needed any help. Sachiko Sensei also gave me contact information for her friends/family there. While I was on the trip they both kept in touch with me by email to make sure I was okay and if I had any questions. Level: High Intermediate (Or Genki 2 Lesson 22) There were only 2 affordable institutes with Higher Intermediate levels for Japanese in the Boston area. The other was in Jamaica Plain, so I chose Japanese Language Class. Location: Excellent! Right in the heart of the Financial District of Downtown Boston, it was a perfectly safe area and easily accessible by T. The building itself is an office building. Security guys will let you in after you ring the doorbell.... Classroom size: Small Quite frankly too small for my liking (2-4 people per class depending on the day). However it allows for a more individualized attention from the teacher. Teacher: Furui Sensei is VERY patient and kind and adjusts the curriculum according to the students' needs. At the same time she sometimes assigns a lot of homework so that students would (hopefully) learn the material outside of class. The amount of homework assigned depends on how busy the class is outside the classroom. Perk! Free coffee! Overall: Great place to learn Japanese, especially for intermediate level and higher! read more

Now I have studied for a year I can have conversations with my Japanese friends. We learn a lot each class and have so much fun that every time I leave the class with a big smile on my face. The teachers are all very nice and patient. The curriculum is very well structured and there are many classes for people with different language skill levels and different purposes(travel, conversational, business or exams). You can start with a trial class any time during the semeter and Furui sensei will help you decide which level class would fit you best. The location is right in Downtown Boston so it is perfect for people who work in Boston and want to study Japanese after work (like myself). I believe the NH location is just open too. And even if you cannot make it to the Boston or NH locations Furui sensei also sends out teaching assistants to fit your schedule and location. I have to say that I've taken Japanese classes in various schools and at various times throughout the years. I've been with this school for almost 4 years now and I have no plans to look for a new one. Not only have I successfully pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test level 5 (JLPT 5) which, by the way, is something that I never even dreamed of doing, but I'm now studying for the next level (JLPT 4). This course of Japanese language learning keeps me focus and has its rewards: really spiffy certificate! Note that I don't really need to take or pass any tests since I'm really learning Japanese for my own benefit and a love of Anime, but the teacher (Sachiko Furui) really makes learning Japanese fun. I'd recommend that if you're looking for a new and fresh perspective on learning Japanese, you should certainly check this school out. Plus, the school is conveniently located downtown Boston and offers a free on-time trial class to see if you'd like to join, so really, you have nothing to lose by trying it out yourself. The Japanese Language Class with its founder and teacher Sachiko Furui is a fun place to learn Japanese. Sachiko and her assistant teachers are native Japanese speakers. So they are able to answer any questions you may have about the Japanese language and Japan in general. There are a variety of classes offered -- from beginner to advance. Private lessons as well as tutorial lessons are also offered. You will definitely find a class that is right for you and your skill level. All classes are in the evening, which makes it easy to attend classes after work. The location, in downtown Boston, is easy to get to via car or public transportation. If you are looking for a fun and relaxed atmosphere to learn Japanese, then this is the place. You will enjoy every class. I have been studying Japanese for a couple of years at three different places in Boston. The Japanese teachers that I've had are all sweet, very patient and fun! However, there are some reasons that I do and I will stick with Japanese Language Class Boston. 1. The class is small about 4 to 5 people, so that you really get one on one attention from the teacher. The teachers keep you very busy speaking Japanese, doing exercises and making sentences. 2. It is a totally Japanese environment. Teachers speak Japanese all the time in the class. That makes me always feel like I have to speak Japanese when answering the teacher's question. It helps a lot! 3. Location is great! I don't drive and it is so easy for me to get there after work by T. Now I have two classes per week, and I feel good about it. I believe I will be fine once I travel in Japan! read more

I went here a few years ago for a group lesson and really liked it but realized I wanted to know speciality stuff (). I also realized private lessons were for me so I did not keep disturbing a class with my questions. adapted to what I wanted to learn and helped me greatly.
