I had the Gold Package, and I am incredibly impressed with the level of service and support they provided throughout my medical school application journey. They helped me quickly apply even when I procratisnated in applying. I submitted my primary in August, most my secondaries in Oct and have an interview coming up the end of this month. I decided on MedSchoolCoach because certain internet forums spoke highly of the physicians they encountered in this program. Dr. Ram Rao was my advisor, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. His availability and deep insight into the application process were invaluable. Whenever I needed feedback or guidance, he was readily accessible and provided expert advice that helped me navigate the complexities of the application process with confidence. The thing that I really like about the program is that they have a two step process for writing both primary and secondaries. First there is a content check with the physician and then you go back and forth with someone who's expertise is in writing to really nail the language and overall flow of the story(I had someone who was in and English Dept at a university). You get the expertise of both sides at the end of the product. Since I was late in the cycle, both my physician and writing expert worked with me quickly to get my essays done. I just did my interview prep yesterday, which I was really nervous for. I was able to pick what format of interview I wanted as well as who I wanted. I was able to choose based on avialability or physician. It was a really helpful interview and they let you record. We went over key things and it was really helpful to hear feedback from someone who is knowledgeable about what to talk about to med school committees. I have another interview coming up this week and the post interview form they sent summarized how I did and they scored me so I can make intenitonal changes to my interview Overall, my experience with Med School Coach has been exceptional. Their personalized approach, efficient processes, and expert guidance have been instrumental in helping me navigate the medical school application process successfully. Financial Exploitation I have never felt more financially exploited by a company in my entire life. I purchased their Gold level package for medical school advising. Because I am a nontraditional student, I thought I would need the extra help. Their services were far below what I expected. You will get just as good of advising by using free online grammar editing tools and forum boards. You can tell through the communication and services you receive that this company and advisors really don't care about you. They only care about making money. After months of being frustrated with their services, I complained about my writing advisor's performance. I was told that because I complained to him that I had violated their code of conduct and that they would be terminating my services with no refund. I did not curse or call anyone names, I simply stated how frustrated I was with their sub par services. I am in the middle of secondaries and have only used 2 of my 5 secondary editing with them. Not to mention all the other services I had not yet used in my package. I am a financially disadvantaged student on an AAMC fee waiver. I had to put Med School Coach's services on a payment plan. Now I have to pay $500 a month for the next year for services I will never receive. As I have previously stated, this company does not care about helping you craft the perfect application or about you as a person. They care only about financially exploiting as many gullible people as they can. They are predators. Stay away from them and other companies like them. Trust me you do not need them. UPDATE: I spoke with Jennifer Urso, the customer service VP. She was beyond unhelpful. She told me that since I used affirm to finance the services, they don't receive full payment. Therefore, even though I only received 50% of the services, I am not entitled to a refund. So I have to pay 3000 more dollars for services I will never receive? This company and Jennifer Urso are the most unprofessional and rude company I have ever came across. They treat me like I work for them when in reality they work for me! If they had the option to use just their personal statement/activities review, I would use it as I had very positive experiences with the feedback I received from the writing advisor and their recommendations on what to include in my writing. The issue is that their advising portion of the package is incredibly lackluster and not worth the thousands you must pay. For the "customized school list," I created my entire list of schools MD/DO, submitted it asking for feedback, received no feedback and a "looks good" response, and then after re-reviewing my list, found mistakes and schools that are blatantly out of reach for me that I removed. So, apply to as many schools as possible, saving you time instead of using their customized school list section. AACOMAS (DO) Application Support is a half-truth. For example, they will not review parts of your primary AACOMAS application even though specific prompts (COVID essay, school questions section) are part of the AACOMAS primary application. Instead, they will say you need to pay more for them to review them. Complete Strategic Planning; I don't know what this is because I didn't receive it. Their one-on-one ten-minute call is as follows: how's your application going talk? Do your best to submit it when the application process opens. Have a strong concern with your application? Just do your best. How's your school list coming? Just apply to a bunch of schools. Essays? Just include a part that says how you grew from it. End. I asked if I could change physician advisor at one point because I wasn't feeling confident with the one I was assigned. They told me no and said if I did change advisors, I basically wouldn't be able to talk to them. read more

DON'T RECOMMEND - was shocked that they refunded ONLY 20% after ONE month of work helping rework my primary app! (I received a spot off waitlist this didn't need them for the more involved secondary apps, practice interviews, follow up correspondence etc). So, NEGOTIATE FOR 50-75% refund or choose a different service!! Many students get off the waitlist in May/June, so just after submitting the common app... this wasn't appreciated for one step out of 4 performed. MedSchoolCoach is a great service that truly helped me gain acceptance to medical school. I was a second-time applicant, and had previously worked with another admissions consulting company in the past (name not disclosed here). I was looking for a way to avoid the unsuccessful venture I had the previous year, which is why I turned to MedSchoolCoach. I signed up for the Gold Package, which truly showed me what they had to offer. Sam and other coaches truly helped me highlight the strengths of my application and motivated me to write essays that were able to impress the admissions staff and make my application stand out. My personal statement and secondary responses were definitely at a level that I could not have achieved on my own. Although they never wrote the essays for me (that would be unethical, of course), they drew from my application and gave me helpful ideas to showcase my talents and abilities. The turnover rate for secondary essay reviews was very short, despite the fact that these were physicians who live incredibly busy lives. They surely prioritize their students' success. Furthermore, the numerous interview practice sessions we held over Skype and over the phone truly helped to refine my skills. I was allowed to practice interviewing with multiple coaches in order to strengthen my communication from multiple points of view. Never have I felt so comfortable at my medical school interviews, or any interview in general. In the end, I gained acceptance to 75% of the schools where I interviewed (Yes, I did the math. The numbers are real). Sahil and co. were knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging, and caring. Even after the application cycle had ended, Sahil followed up with me to check on any new developments in my medical school applications. I have never met people so dedicated and invested in their students. Although the application cycle was tough form me, it is now over, and I am currently headed to one of my top-choice schools. I definitely owe it to MedSchoolCoach for their dedication and support. read more

They offer good quality tutors, but their master advising program is misleading. They do not tell you upfront that the master advising is contingent upon you purchasing tutoring hours with regular tutors. After purchasing the master advising program (in addition to purchasing regular tutoring hours) where a master advisor oversees your learning, you are abruptly informed that the master advisor cannot work with you because you are out of regular tutoring hours. Students must be informed that in order for a master advisor to continue working with you, you must (at all times, have enough regular tutoring hours purchased). I paid this company $4,500 for help with my medical school application and almost $1,000 for MCAT prep tutoring. After a couple of the tutoring sessions, I said I wanted to cancel the rest. The medical school application advisor spoke with me on the phone for an initial intake session and it was nice. But, after that day the only contact she had was to return the essays I would send her for editing, just a hair before the 72-hours deadline. So essentially I paid around $5,000 just to have somebody correct my sentence structure on a handful of short essays. No great insight was offered by this company, no tailor-made plan to help me better advance myself, not even a second phone call did my thousands of dollars get me...This is not how this company advertises itself. It is pretty clear that they painstakingly curate their online reviews in order to bluff students into paying them their ludicrous fees. read more

Over a year and a half ago we bought the gold package from MedSchool Coach to help our daughter with her med school admission process. This was after she had already taken MCAT. She scored in the 97.5% and had a 3.95 GPA. We talked to Dr. Metha directly about her goals to make sure that she gets assigned an adviser who would help her get there. On a positive note, Dr. Metha is accessible and willing to talk with you. The main aspects of medical schoool application process any student would need help with are the following: 1) College selection. 2) Help refining primary and secondary essays. 3) Help selecting and defining skills, activities and experiences most appropriate for each school from the wide range of activities every student applying to med school has done. 4) Help with interview preparation - general interview skills, suggestions for proper interview attire, mock interviews, etc. The adviser my daughter got paired with was not someone who had the people skills to be doing such a job. His response to questions were slow, perhaps within the boundaries of what was in the contract, but slow, nonetheless. Frustrated, we complained to Dr.Metha and he promised to assign her another adviser who might be more familiar with the schools she wanted to apply to. But nothing changed after that - she continued to try to work with the impersonal, irresponsive adviser. We understand now that the most important aspect of the process is selecting which schools you apply to. Wanting to go to one and having the posted credentials to qualify for it is not at all enough. One can find out the demographics of the incoming students in each school. Med School Coach does not do anything to help candidates with that. MedSchool Coach adviser did nothing in terms of figuring out which activities demonstrating her special abilities would appeal to an admission counselor and hence worth listing or elaborating in the application. My daughter's adviser made minor edits to her essays - no help in terms of what would make her stand out among the applicants or anything like that. About the time when her secondary essay writing was going in full swing, her adviser let her know that he was no longer going to be available to work with her. One can imagine the frustration a college senior goes through at that point. Once again, after talking to Dr. Metha, we were promised that this person will continue to be available, and was to a much less extent. My daughter got two interview calls. MedSchool Coach conducts mock interview. She did one, and the interviewer told her that she was excellent and did not need to change or improve on anything. She did not get admitted to either of the two schools. Our gold package included help with application process second time around if the applicant didn't get admissions the first time. But Dr. Metha or his organization didn't follow up in any manner to see what happened. Perhaps if we had reached out, we might have received help from another such uninterested adviser, but we didn't waste any time on that. We did all the work ourselves in the second go around. Our daughter did a mock interview with Kaplan who was extremely helpful in explaining to her what she needed to work on and what interviewers are looking for in a candidate. She got 7 interviews, 2 admissions and wait-listed in 2 others. I wrote this review on our way back from her white coat ceremony. We approached MedSchool Coach because we are totally in the dark on the process and needed guidance. We are extremely disappointed that our daughter wasted a year because we trusted this organization to provide the assistance that we needed. We do not recommend MedSchool Coach. read more

I used Med School Coach's MCAT tutoring to prepare for my MCAT exam this past January and highly recommend their program! I was a non-science major and decided to pursue a career in medicine half way through my college career, and the MCAT was something I was extremely nervous about. I purchased the platinum package and took the diagnostic practice exam and scored a 496. Ken, (their master tutor) helped me put together a study plan for my January test date. I worked with Coral for my sciences and Connor for the behavioral foundations section. While working on content review with my other tutors, Ken would give me research articles that were much longer and more difficult than anything on the exam. He took me through them paragraph by paragraph, and helped me prepare for the exam's most challenging passages. When we finished the content review phase and started practicing, I was given a google spreadsheet to put all my wrong answers into so and my tutors could figure out what I was still struggling with. We went through every concept I missed to make sure I wouldn't miss them again on the exam. I ended up with a 515 (19 points higher than my diagnostic exam)! read more

This consulting company takes complete advantage of pre-medical students. I paid $4500 for their MCAT tutoring service with the impression that I would receive my money back if my score did not improve. This was something I was not trying to worry about, as their website boasts "100% Percentage of students who raised their scores with MedSchoolCoach". I was also finagled into purchasing their smaller secondary essay editing package while waiting for my MCAT score to come back. Well, I ended up scoring worse on the MCAT compared to the one I took prior to using their tutoring service and decided I was no longer going to apply to medical school (this was my last straw). I had barely used the secondary editing service and requested my money back for both. The customer service support person I spoke with on the phone asked me to describe my tutor experience, and I told her that he was just OK. I had to initiate all meetings and had to send him content to go over, otherwise, we wouldn't meet. I even had several hours of tutoring time left that went unused. She said that my experience shouldn't have been that way and that I should have been "blown away" by their tutors (she said this several times). Apparently, they have a 30-day money-back policy. If I was supposed to start studying at least 3 months out from my scheduled MCAT test date, how could I possibly know if I was going to score worse? They did not refund me for the tutor services, nor did they refund me for the secondary editing services, even after I explained to them that I would no longer be pursuing medical school. Instead, they applied a reduced amount of credits to my MedSchoolCoach account to be used for other services, after I already explained I was no longer following the pre-med path. Their response? Sell the credits! So now I have to convince some other pre-med student into buying their services if I want my thousands of dollars back? read more

I used MedSchoolCoach to help with my med school secondaries. I looked up the advisor assigned to help me and they did come from a very prominent medical school and had very good credentials. I submitted my primary application and materials as requested. I was disappointed when I had my brainstorming session that my advisor obviously hadn't read my primary application or materials. They spent a lot of time giving me general advice on writing my secondaries which I could find myself researching online. I know I am responsible for writing all my own material on my secondaries but I had hoped they would have looked at my personal information. Maybe given me suggestions on things i have experienced that would be good to bring out, helping me with my biggest problem of figuring out what to write about. When I did submit my secondaries the advisor was efficient at editing them and got them back to me in a timely manner. I could of had a family member do the editing. I was looking for content suggestions to help me stand out which can't happen if the advisor doesn't take the time to get to know you at all. read more
