From student: I cannot recommend Chris enough! He easily broke down complex math concepts into understandable steps that made everything click. Beyond teaching the material, he shared practical strategies to approach problems and succeed on test day. I was able to improve my SAT score from 1370 to 1540, something I couldn't have imagined before working with him. His teaching style is engaging, patient, and always tailored to your needs. If you're looking for an SAT tutor who genuinely cares about your success, Chris is the one to choose!   From mom: As a mom of six, I have used many tutors, and I cannot recommend Chris at Summit enough. When my son was paired with Chris, Chris immediately contacted me to explain his approach. We had a wonderful, unrushed conversation. Chris clearly communicated with me after each meeting. My son said that Chris not only helped him drastically improve his score from a 1370 to a 1540 but also helped him understand and appreciate math. Chris is incredibly competent but also incredibly kind. My son shared that Chris was always cheerful and avoided criticism but challenged him appropriately. My son said that he was one of the best teachers that he had had. Margaret who was our contact person at Summit was incredibly helpful and supportive. I cannot praise this company enough! My son will be attending Harvard in the fall. Summit helped make his dream a reality. We will be using Summit for our next five children. Thank you Margaret and Chris! read more

My teen tried the online ACT test prep class, which cost $1,000. My kid found it really inaccessible and unhelpful. I called to try to get a refund or at least convert the sunken cost to one on one tutoring, but they said no. The most they would do was give me a $300 credit, but I would have to pay $200 to use it. I do not recommend this place. read more

They made my 10 year old daughter take middle school ISEE sample test instead of elementary school... The exam was meant for 7-8 graders as my daughter just finished 4th...Exam was 2.5 hours... She endured it but poor kid was so traumatized, now I can not convince her to take the exam ever again.... I realized the mistake just before she started and pointed out but they dismissed my concern. They insisted that this was the correct exam.... Shame on them as " educators". How would you trust their tutoring if can't assign the correct test to a child...How hard this could be... read more

My daughter was able to increase her SAT score by 200 points. Summit provided the right tutor, tailored to my student's style. Beth was knowledge, kind and firm. I received a written summary each week from Beth about what they covered, what to focus on and what should have happened but didn't--those were the most helpful. They let the students take a practice assessment in similar conditions. The company is serious about SAT/ACT test taking! They had great advice about when to take the SAT given the school year as well. Full service and worth the time and money! read more

I was very happy with the ACT tutoring services that Summit provided. Andrea Howland and Theo Wampler did a great job of guiding us through the process and my son's tutor, Mike Rogers, was fantastic! I highly recommend Summit for anyone wanting to improve their ACT or SAT scores. This program makes so much sense because they focus on the specific areas where your child can improve rather than a generic ACT or SAT course which is not individually focused. My son already had a high ACT score but he improved it by 3 points after only 5 tutoring sessions with Mike Rogers! This is a fantastic program and is money well spent! read more

I cannot recommend Summit enough to anyone who is looking for 1:1 standardized test tutoring for their student. They truly work to match teacher and student in terms of learning style as well as focus. Beth was extraordinary both for her knowledge and ability to connect with and support our child and seemed to know intuitively exactly what was needed week-to-week. Communication with us as parents was informative and consistent while still making it clear that our child (not us) was the client. Results were outstanding - our child exceeded their very high goals on the ACT after taking it only twice! read more

My son had a fairly low ACT score coming into his junior year. We hired Summit Educational Group in December of 2019. Michael Dean, Executive Director, did an outstanding job finding a great tutor for my son. He was extremely helpful and responsive. He tutored for 3 months and took the ACT spring 2020. He went up seven points. I was floored. I can't say enough good things about our experience. The money I spent gave my son amazing scholarships. Run, don't walk to hire this company! read more

So far we have been extremely happy with Summit. Our tutor, Aubrey Elson, is outstanding and works very well with both our daughters. One daughter has taken the ACT and her score went up 9 points in the Reading Comp and 6 points in the English section after 6 tutoring sessions. Our other daughter is also making great progress but has not yet taken the exam. Our Summit coordinator, Margaret Eklind, is very helpful too. Summit is expensive but you get what you pay for- excellent service and tutoring and unlimited practice tests. read more

We have used Summit for all three of our boys and have been extremely happy with their tutors and the communication from the office. All around excellent service. They listen closely to find a good student/tutor match which makes a huge difference. read more

This place is great! I'm really impressed by their customer service. The director Ruth Watterson goes out of her way to give honest, reliable, and FREE feedback to families. After providing my son with a FREE practice ISEE test, she called me to say she did NOT recommend tutoring for him, that he knew his material, and was ready to go. She told me to just go over the questions he got wrong with him at home and that was it. She said she'd be lying if she recommended their services to us. She could easily have told me she recommended at least one tutoring session, I would have believed, and paid for it. Instead she chose to be honest. I cannot recommend them enough. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you Summit!! read more

Charles, Thank you so much for following up with me and for offering to speak with me. I really appreciate this and regret that I did not have the chance to speak with you. Thanks, Vicki read more

I cannot say enough good things about Summit. They helped both of our children reach their high goals with the ACT. Theo was amazing at finding a tutor that matched our children's learning style, personality, and academic needs. Theo checked in periodically to be sure everything was going well and was invested in helping our children reach their goals. Our tutor, Kevin, was amazing! Connected immediately with our student and was able to diagnose what needed to be worked on and how to get there. He was very strategic in the homework and provided positive reinforcement along the way. Our child actually enjoyed studying for the ACT during the school year because of Kevin! He was an excelled communicator with both our student and us as parents. We recommend Theo, Kevin and Summit without reservation! read more

Two of my daughters used Summit to improve their SAT scores with great results. Recently my junior daughter worked with Olivia for Reading and John for Math. They used their time very effectively and targeted exactly what skills she needed to improve which helped her confidence quickly. After 3 months, her score improved 230 points. Thrilled with the short intense instruction that paid off. Also, both tutors communicated with parents very well. Highly recommend. read more

My kids have worked with a number of tutoring groups over the years and I would most highly recommend Summit. From the practice testing to the personalized tutoring, everything was easy to access. The practice tests gave detailed results to help guide a study plan. More importantly though, Summit helped us find an experienced teacher and tutor to help guide my daughter through the SSAT. She was thoughtful and targeted, helping my daughter raise her score over 100 points in each section over the course of the fall. read more

We worked with Summit to help our child with ACT tutoring. We worked with Margaret out of the Newton office. She listened carefully about our child's needs and matched us up with the perfect tutor, Aubrey, who exceeded our expectations in every way. Aubrey was not only professional, patient, thoughtful, and extremely intelligent, but also exceedingly dedicated to getting to know our child's learning style and needs. She also served as a mentor and taught our child techniques that will be valuable in school and in future test taking. We recently received the test scores and we simply cannot believe how well our child performed. Because of Summit, we know that our child will be able to meet future academic goals. Summit was a great choice and we give them our highest recommendation. read more

We have had a great experience at Summit. Lisa Houtzeel is incredible to work with and always very responsive. Our tutor Natalie was also amazing and a great match for our daughter. read more

My twin juniors worked with Emma Lee of the Newton, MA Summit Educational Group to prepare for the SAT exam. She came highly recommended by a local friend of ours, and I am extremely happy we decided to hire her as well! My kids are very different - one needed to focus more on the math sections, and the other needed to focus more on English sections. She met with them individually over the course of eight weeks and helped raise their scores from their practice tests by at least 100 points each. I liked that I didn't have to commit to purchasing a package of a certain number of sessions. Instead, I was able to stay within my budget and the kids got exactly what they needed out of each session with her. What I especially appreciated as a parent of twins was that she never compared them to each other, and that she truly helped strengthen their confidence. Unlike many of their friends - who were cramming for the SAT exam the last few nights before - Emma said to put their books away for the days leading up to the test and relax and get a good night's sleep. I honestly think this made a huge difference - one scored in the high 1400s and the other scored in the mid 1500s on their first attempt. I am extremely grateful to Emma and the entire Summit Educational Group for personalizing their tutoring, and being exactly who and what they needed to succeed on the SAT. I would also like to mention that Lisa Houtzeel from the same office did an excellent job explaining everything before we started working with Emma. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

Summit came through for us in a big way when we were in a pinch and needed SSAT tutoring for an unexpected last minute application to a high school. Our daughter formed a very strong, trusting attachment to Kerry, her tutor, and met 2-3 times per week. Despite already being a strong student our daughter was able to bring her scores up to the highest level for consideration at any selective school. We used most specifically the math tutoring, and I witnessed the very affirming and gentle approach Kerry used as they tackled problems together, allowing for different strategies. Alysha was wonderful to work with too for general information and scheduling, and Summit were very flexible all around. In general, Summit had strategic knowledge that was exceedingly helpful, specific experienced tutors, and were very customer focused - we will be using them for SAT and ACT help going forward. read more

Best money I've ever spent! My older son had done tutoring through a class elsewhere. There was no homework, and it still wasn't cheap. A friend had used Summit at the same time and had much different results, so we decided to go that route for our younger son. Lauren was our tutor and she was fantastic. The individual attention really let him focus on what he needed, and she really broke things down for him to help him strategize how to succeed. There was a lot of HW but it was broken down each week into manageable pieces and it was very helpful. Still waiting on the SAT results, but the last practice test was 200 points higher than when we started. I highly recommend Summit! read more

Two of our children have worked with Summit tutors during their junior year. The combination of superb tutoring coupled with Summit's practice testing program resulted in increased confidence and a significant improvement in official test scores. Summit is a valuable investment in your child's future! read more

You would think Summit would take care with each family given that families connect with others in the same need. However, communication with Summit from beginning to end was not just difficult but baffling. When you can't follow a conversation with the head of tutoring, there isn't much hope. It is far too expensive to waste time and money here, stay away. read more

Having been recommended by two great friends, I connected with Summit to help my son get his SSAT scores up. We had lived abroad for 2 years and coming back, he wasn't as strong as he needed to be in Reading and Verbal. He has now been working with Michael Singer for about 2 months and in that short time, he has improved on his SSAT scores significantly (he was 50th percentile a year ago and is now at 74th percentile) and has a real confidence that comes with seeing the results of his work. Michael has been so helpful in giving him strategies on how to think about questions, how to guess/not guess, and giving him specific areas he needs to work on during the week between tutoring sessions. I can't say enough good things about Summit while I was initially thrown off by the price, I can say it was worth every penny - Michael has been a game changer for our son. This tutoring will help our son both for the test but also for the rest of his education. read more

Joe Ayala was extremely helpful and guided us with test taking and even gave college advice.

Summit exceeded my expectations. The ability to pivot to a remote structure, allow for continuity of sessions during a time of uncertainty, and continue to stay focused alongside all of the lack of clarity was impressive to say the least. In addition, the feedback loop with students and parents was ideal. Students are front and center at Summit. The consistent improvements in scores was noticeable and was a big component in building my son's self confidence. A big shout out to Sandy LeBrun. She connected quickly with my son and had a good way of motivating him. read more

My child's ACT exam dropped by 3 points after spending gobs of money with Summit. I highly suggest that you look elsewhere for SAT/ACT tutoring. The staff was extremely rude to me when I pointed this out to them. They also have a very irregular billing schedule - they just send invoices as will with no reports nor justification. I've told five families at my child's school to look elsewhere. I only hope this review helps others from making the same mistake that I did. read more

There are MANY tutoring options out there! Go somewhere else! Do not waste your hard earned money with summit...very costly and no return on your investment! My daughter was tutored by summit for about 6 months with NO improvement! When I called to speak to them about it, they were very unhelpful! Basically accepting no responsibility and offering no suggestions! Don't make the same mistake that we did.... read more

My daughter's SAT score dropped 120 points after tutoring with Summit. That's disappointing, but what I found more disappointing is that when two different people from the company wrote to me to ask how she did, neither of them replied when I told them. read more

We used Summit for test prep and they were excellent. The staff in the office were incredibly responsive, efficient, and friendly. The tutor we were assigned always turned up on time and had my daughter actually looking forward to her tutoring. My son had good experience with Summit. He went to Chyten first during the summer for 10 lessons, took the test, somewhat improved. Then other parents recommended Summit. Summit teacher came to my house on weekends and their rate was only 2/3 of Chyten's. After 6 weeks, my son took the test again, huge improvement this time. Summit's tutoring is more structured while Chyten's tutor simply let my son do practice tests and then pointed out where he did wrong. read more

A total waste of money. Poor instructor and my son skipped out and did not hear a word from instructor!
