Livius - Chyten Event: information about the Common Core at Lexington MA Office

We are proud of our son and grateful for his admission to Bentley University. However, calling it…read more"a top university with a significant merit scholarship" is an obvious attempt to inflate the outcome. A $10,000 merit award is fairly common among Lexington High School seniors. Our son's dream school was Babson College, and that was the goal we worked toward for years. After several years of working with Livius, his final SAT score was 1350. That is not a terrible score, but it is not impressive in Lexington, especially among Asian students. We ultimately sought additional support elsewhere. It is inappropriate to now imply that the entire result is solely your achievement. The core issue remains the sales process. We were strongly persuaded to purchase a large prepaid package, and were told at the time that it might even be insufficient for what our son would need. Based on that representation, we signed the so-called "non-refundable" agreement. After years of services, we still have more than 10 unused hours left. That alone speaks for itself. When we recently inquired about the remaining balance, the response was dismissive and focused only on the contract clause, without any acknowledgment of the inaccurate projections used to sell the package. Repeating "you signed a contract" while ignoring the context is not customer care -- it is deflection. Using ambiguous language to magnify results and take credit, while dismissing legitimate concerns about unused prepaid services, reflects poorly on a company that charges premium prices. We stand by our review.

My son joined last September, and he LOVES his class so much. At one point, I was considering to…read morewithdraw him from the program, because driving him to Lexington from Boston every Friday is horrible, it takes me more than an hour on the road, plus 2 hours class, my whole afternoon is gone. I found another program closer to home, before I pay for it, I raised my consideration to my son, but he rejected that., and would like to continue at RSM That really surprise me!! I know my son, he does not like to do extra activity, I really want to know what magic that the school has done to him! The curriculum that RSM uses is really advance, I can see a significant improvement that my son has in both school and his logical thinking. I wish I heard about RSM earlier, so I can start my son in the program earlier, because I heard that their elementary school curriculum is very helpful and can develop good reasoning skills. ps. feel free to talk to the principal, the head teacher or any of the staff members, very helpful and friendly

1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing Experience. Parents, Beware!…read more I strongly advise parents to think twice before enrolling their children at the Russian School of Mathematics (RSM), especially when it comes to student support and tuition refunds. 1. Lack of Genuine Concern for Students' Progress Based on my daughter's experience, the teachers seemed more focused on delivering lessons than ensuring students actually understood the material. There appeared to be little concern about whether students were keeping up or truly learning. For a school that charges substantial tuition, this is extremely disappointing. 2. An Unacceptable and Frustrating Refund Process We followed the school's refund policy and notified them of our withdrawal two weeks before the semester began. Despite complying with their requirements, getting our tuition refunded turned into an absolute nightmare. Over the course of more than TWO MONTHS, I called the school four or five times. Phone calls frequently went unanswered. On the rare occasions when I reached someone, I was repeatedly promised a refund and written confirmation by email. The attached screenshot shows only today's repeated calls to RSM Lexington. It does not include the numerous calls I made over the previous two months trying to resolve this refund issue. Not once did they follow through. No confirmation emails. No refund. Just empty promises. The staff's attitude toward resolving this issue was often dismissive and unprofessional. It genuinely felt as though they were deliberately making the refund process as difficult as possible, hoping we would eventually give up. 3. A Warning to Other Parents: ALWAYS Pay by Credit Card! Fortunately, I paid the tuition with a credit card. After more than two months of getting nowhere with the school, I finally contacted my credit card company. They promptly helped me initiate a charge dispute. My advice to other parents: NEVER pay tuition here with a payment method that offers limited dispute protection. Use a credit card, keep records of every communication, and don't rely on verbal promises. A reputable educational institution should care about its students AND honor its own refund policies. Based on my experience, this school failed on both counts. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic customer service. Parents deserve to know what they may be dealing with before handing over their money.

It was very invasive sitting next to a stranger and our legs and arms were rubbing up against each other. Luckily my seat mate was nice, but not what I would expect of front row seating. Had a fun experience at Cary Hall seeing American Idol legends Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard…read more I had no idea that this venue with so much history was right in my backyard. It was built in the 1920s, and the character still oozes from the building. They've made some renovations, but have kept it mostly original which I appreciate. The actual chairs are still everywhere expect for the orchestra seating, and they are sooo comfy. Trivia question: The seats have a wire rack underneath, what was it used for back in the day? Shout out to one of the ushers for this fun question. (I won't spoil the answer). Now, because it is historic, there are some things it doesn't have. One being no screens like at most concert venues. This wasn't too big a deal since the hall is not huge, but something to point out. Also can't bring food or drink inside the space to protect its historic value, which didn't bother me to be honest. This hall is also nice because due to the size, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The side balconies aren't head on with the stage but it didn't seem to be an issue. I sat in the loge and for being furthest away, I had a clear view. They also had a cash bar in the foyer with drinks and snacks. I liked this venue because it was a quaint space, and it felt like I was going to a live theater, rather than a huge concert. It's classy and makes for a fun night out. I would love to come back and see the Lexington Symphony play here.
