They work so hard to cultivate a deep love for learning/exploration, and a sense of confidence and independence in children. The Montessori method is put into effective practice each day through work-cycle & thoughtful, creative activities. The teachers have a lot of experience implementing healthy practices to help children with emotional regulation and social aspects of learning. During the academic year, the school has a rich curriculum spanning language, math, science, practical life, sensorial, and gross/fine motor - the teachers create this and share via monthly newsletters. Two major highlights of the year are the holiday & summer concerts where all children in the school perform together - this is a tremendous undertaking and months of preparation by the teachers for a most delightful family-oriented tradition! Director Ms. Sahar and co-director Ms. Jenn are fully present and so dedicated - they know each child by name, each family, and are always on the ground to ensure smooth daily functioning. There is little-to-no staff turnover and the teachers have a wealth of experience. The staff was warm, professional, and well-prepared to share their experience with my son for the day when I arrived to pick him up. My son has several chronic medical conditions which requires a significant level of coordination between school, his medical team, and child care provider. Through it all, the entire Storyville team contributed significantly to: (1) his speech development; (2) ability to interact with the staff and fellow classmates; and (3) his ability to explore new and exciting activities through field trips, swimming lessons, or magicians and storytellers, which were all a part of the regular activities line up. Regarding administrative matters, I found the team to be wonderful. The director Pam would personally send me email updates regarding administrative matters and was quick to respond to any questions I asked. Joan is equally amazing, extremely helpful, responsive, and knew my son very well. The teachers were supportive, attentive, caring and aware of upcoming programming. I think they went out of their way on many occasions to invite my partner and I to join in on field trips and become a part of my sons experience. With my son's medical conditions, safety in an integrated environment was a top concern in selecting a daycare. The care that the entire team demonstrated in working with him reassured me that this was the right place for him. Because of this experience, my son has had a smooth transition into Kindergarten and I am forever grateful for all the support we received from the entire Storyville team. He enjoyed his experience so much that I had very mixed feelings about his transition to Kindergarten and that school's extended-day program verses keeping him at Storyville. He was welcomed with warmth and affection and it went smoothly! The teachers are great, they always tell me how his day went and are open to discussing ideas about how best to handle my energetic little guy. He's learned so much and has really developed the academic and social skills that I hoped when enrolling him. The administration is fantastic, always flexible and accommodating to my crazy work schedule. My son starts kindergarten in the fall and is well prepared thanks to the school and it's dedicated teachers and staff. I highly recommend sending your little ones to Storyville!

All of the teachers/caregivers work very well as a team and take the time to get to know and love each of the children they look after and it really does show on the faces of the little ones attending the program. The learning curriculum is engaging for the kids and the communications with parents are frequent and clear . The Brightwheel app updates are amazing; seeing photos of my kid every day really brightened my mood. The physical space within the daycare is fun and inviting, with each classroom mocked up as a house or building in a neighborhood (hallway). I'd HIGHLY recommend this daycare to anyone in the Brookline/Boston area looking for somewhere their LO can socialize, exercise, learn, and grow in a safe and loving environment.

There was not a single room that we (and they) didn't love! My son left for Kindergarten a year ago and my daughter is leaving now at age 3 to be closer to our home for pick-up/drop-off reasons. I'm so incredibly grateful we had LCSH to care for our children. First, the leadership. Lissy and Gladys are wonderful. They are experienced, kind, friendly, professional, and very responsive. They clearly love and know each one of the children and care for their staff. There is very little staff turnover, which both creates a very nice family atmosphere for the kids and speaks to Lissy and Gladys' leadership. When the pandemic hit, Lissy and Gladys did everything they could to keep the children safe while understanding the needs of working parents. I also have compared their tuition to many other places and they are very reasonable. Second, the staff! They are such wonderful people - my kids loved them all because they are warm, loving, and great educators. My son was fully ready for Kindergarten and my daughter has learned fine motor skills, sharing, listening, resolving conflicts, and fairness. Often teachers from previous years would see my daughter in the hallway and give her big hugs. It meant a lot to us that they felt surrounded by people who care. Third, the other programs. Lissy and Gladys keep things fresh by bringing in music teachers, having field days, sports, and many other activities. My daughter looked forward to every Thursday when Ms. Monica would come to her class and bring instruments for the kids to play and to dance. Finally, the community. The parents and other children are a lovely group of people. We are sad to leave LCSH, but grateful we have the memories. If you visit the school - especially Boylston street - it's not the most beautiful location. But don't judge based on that! The school itself is very nice and the teachers get the kids out and about to the local parks for sports, water parties in the summer, and playground fun. Ultimately, LCSH is a great place with people who truly care about kids and families.

The thought "oh, I can leave my kiddo here" came to me pretty unexpectedly and clearly during that visit, and I legit got pretty emotional. The other reviews ring true. The teachers there are amazing the class sizes are small and especially during the pandemic their cleanliness standards are through the roof. Love the diversity, love the other families, love that we can walk there. And while I feel for the parents who are experiencing back to school anxiety amongst a pandemic, I'm quite relieved that my daughter will transition seamlessly from the summer camp to the preschool.

During those 8 years, the school maintained its main focus - teaching children to develop strong relationships with their peers and teachers. Both my children are now in elementary school and are still close with their BNS friends. The BNS teachers teach children how to be a part of a group, how to express themselves, share, compromise, play, and learn joyfully together. Sure, you'll find schools with fancier facilities, bigger playgrounds, and more "rigorous" academics, but BNS' focus on friendship and play is refreshing, age-appropriate, and long-lasting. These social-emotional skills is what has allowed both my children to flourish academically in elementary school. The staff is professional and approachable, caring and good-humored. Not only do my kids miss their BNS days, but I miss them too!

It is a small school so the teachers can really cater to each child's needs and interests. The schools celebrates families of different backgrounds and every year there have been some non-native English speaking kids. Because it's a co-op and has flexible afternoon scheduling it is more affordable than other preschools in the area. Parent presence in the classroom is not expected or required. The co-op jobs are very reasonable and related to administration. Two half weekend days per year parents volunteer for clean-up and organization type jobs. It's nice that you get to know the other kids and families may of whom are from our neighborhood and who will be heading to Kindergarten with us next year.

They are so creative and organized that even a big messy project is finished just in time to start a circle time. They are always looking for new authors, new music, new art projects because they enjoy it as much as our kids. Whatever is happening in CP is done not out of duty but out of love and joy. Not only our kids can feel it, we, their parents, are also exposed to this wonderful energy. Isn't it what we all want for our kids?

The language the staff used in communicating with the students, the visual references within the classroom, and the general culture of the school all emphasized the importance of these developmental skills. Our children learned so many key communication skills from this comprehensive approach. The teachers and staff that were hired were always professional, nurturing and well-trained. We knew that out children were always well-cared for and safe. The activities that the teachers created was amazing! Most classrooms had thematic units that would change monthly. The activities created by the staff around these themes was incredible and always surprised us by how detailed and comprehensive each unit was while still being broken down enough for its young learners to understand. Our children made lasting friendships and we met so many nice families as a result of the community feel that the school fostered. I would highly recommend Beginnings School to others!

At one point, I dropped him off and I went to pick him up 5 minutes later. I couldn't. And I searched for another center. Our son started in a room on the cusp of the younger kids because of his speech and social development. He fell in love with one teacher, Kelly. She (and Goddard!) saw what we saw in Vincent. Goddard helped Vincent learn to love school. He's now in pre-k and loves all of the teachers, friends and now learning. He loves animals, math, writing, asked when he can start reading, and surprises us every day! My son is in speech through the Belmont Public Schools and needed an evaluation to assess the whole picture of his education. After the school visited Goddard, they expressed their approval of Ms Kim and Ms Nicole in their control in the classroom (even with some high energy little boys-- my son being one of them :)) and what love they had for teaching. I know he'll excel in kindergarten! My daughter loved every second of everything. Goddard brought out the best in her and created life long friendships! She loves to go pick up brother and say hi to all of the staff, teachers and friends. It's a place you'll always feel welcome! We'll be sad to leave Goddard this summer and recommend to anyone and everyone. The owners truly care about not only the success of Goddard, but every individual student and staff. We were deeply concerned by this and shared our feedback with the management. They reacted dismissively to our feedback. It was an easy decision for us to not move forward despite losing our full $3,000 deposit and having to scramble to find alternative childcare.
