I was referred by a friend, never received a response and couldn't contact via phone. What a shame.

Working with Trevor and Yash for MCAT coaching was an amazing experience. Whenever I had questions…read moreabout a certain topic/problem, adjusting my study schedule, or being overly neurotic about my progress, Yash was always just a text or call away to reassure me and answer my questions. For example, in the last few weeks of studying my AAMC full length scores progressed from a 516 to 519 to 516 to 513. The trend from a 519 to 513 definitely made me anxious, and it felt like I was hitting a slump in my studying. However, Yash was quick to let me know that full length scores aren't static, reassuring me that I'm scoring within the expected standard deviation around my average of 516. He told me that each full length is different in difficulty, advising me to take an extra day off each week to refocus myself and really hone in on why I might've got more questions wrong. This definitely helped clear my mind and I actually began to feel grateful for scoring a 513, because I was able to identify gaps in my content/test taking strategies that I didn't even know I had. Subsequently, my scores on the last two AAMC full lengths went back up from a 514 to 518! At the end of my studying, I felt satisfied that I've done everything I could to prepare for this test, and that no matter what happened on test day, I was confident in getting a score that would give me a good shot at an acceptance to medical school. Overall, I don't think I would've made it as far as I did without his support--Yash has been an amazing coach!

I spent over 1000 on tutoring services from him and they did not help me at all. Trevor was very hard to talk to, no small talk at all ever, so you feel like complete strangers the entire time. I felt awkward during our sessions and as if I was bothering him. I chose him from all of the good reviews he had, but ended up having the exact opposite experience... so wanted to warn you all.

Manhattan Prep is an amazing prep course for the GRE. I took an in person class with John Cho and…read morehave nothing but positive things to say about him and the course overall. John was extremely knowledgeable about the test, content, study strategies, tips/tricks etc. He was able to tailor the class to suit the needs of different students, and was always available for after class questions. In my first practice test I got a 161V and 156Q, so was fairly nervous about boosting my quant score to my target of 165. John not only helped me on my quant weak spots, but also was a positive voice throughout my studies and kept me optimistic. Studying for a big test can be pretty isolating - especially if you have no friends studying for something at the same time (..i.e. this was my experience) so it was incredibly helpful to have a class & instructor that kept me mentally motivated. The Manhattan materials (books, practice tests, online resources, 5lb book (!)) are also top notch and better than those I've seen from other prep courses. I ended up getting a 164V/166Q/5.5 & I'm not convinced I could have done it without this class. I maybe could have eventually, but you don't want to spend forever studying for a test when you (presumably) have apps to focus on. Take Manhattan with John! It's 110% worth it - will make your studying smarter, faster, and less stressful.

His sessions were well structured. We covered all content and strategy areas but he also offered helpful feedback on the ones I should prioritize based on his assessment of my strengths and weaknesses. I hit a wall in my studies about halfway through and struggled to maintain confidence that I could reach my test goals and, more specifically, improve my quant score. John was really supportive in a genuine way. He helped me reframe my thinking around my studies and adopt a new approach that worked better. I got V164/Q168 (this hugely exceeded my Q164 goal).

Veritas Prep - Students enjoying a Veritas Prep GMAT course in Cambridge

I wholeheartedly agree with Ken's review. Veritas was great and really made the difference for me…read moreand the GMAT. The instructors were phenomenal - especially David, who went above and beyond to provide solid lectures, good examples, and additional supplementary materials. In addition to great teachers, Veritas' online classes were really helpful - either for reviewing material you're fuzzy on or making up for a missed class. Plus, they give you access to so many practice GMAT tests (some of their own, plus others they license), so you'll really feel prepared by the time test day comes. The class format of Veritas really sets it apart from other programs. For me, having the hands-on classroom time plus TONS of homework/practice problems was the necessary nudge I needed to make sure I was devoting adequate time to studying. The books are well thought out and give you a lot of detail. I'd recommend supplementing it with the Official GMAT guide (in your final weeks of studying) to really help give you a sense of the official GMAT Qs.

Although the instructors were great, this class is NOT designed for people who work full-time. If…read moreI had studied as much as they recommended, I would not have had time for anything else. Before you go out and preach my review as gospel, let me make sure that everyone knows that about halfway through the Vertias Prep program I decided I didn't need a $100k MBA. I just want to learn how to start a business and maintain it and have a fairly good idea of what I'm doing. Therefore, my score actually went DOWN by 60 points after taking the class. I don't blame Veritas Prep, I was just disappointed that it wasn't good for someone who works full time. Also, if you suck at math...I advise getting a private tutor BEFORE starting this class. Lots and lots of Algebra.

My son looks forward to his sessions, prepares and is fully engaged. That, to me, is the best testament. Kevin tutors my child at home, is super responsive to email/chat/phone and is accommodating in advance of quizzes & special assignments. I find him to be super flexible. My son's grade went up by a full letter grade since starting his tutoring and is achieving A's in all the latest tests. He is also working with my son on the SAT Chemistry subject test. Kevin also helps with work habits and studying approach for these subjects --- beyond the content being studied. We plan on continuing with him for calculus & biology next year too since Kevin is well-rounded. I highly recommend Kevin for any high school student. I know he tutors college students at advanced levels and that should give you an idea of his knowledge. My wife and I are extremely pleased with his tutoring. More importantly, my son is. Don't think twice.

A bit about me and my teaching philosophy - Chemistry is really not so hard as it first appears to be. There are a few key concepts that I like to pass along that clarify and simplify the problem sets that students face. Sometimes it is a matter of being able to express a problem in mathematical terms. In others it is being able to visualize what happens in a reaction. After being pointed in the right direction, and with a little practice, most any student can excel in chemistry. After a 15 year career in chemistry, I now primarily practice Acupuncture in Brighton. I still love the subject, and enjoy tutoring students in Organic and General Chemistry, as well as biology and math. I was a teaching fellow at Boston University while earning a MS in organic synthesis. I let discussion and laboratory sections. I worked through problem sets with the students, and went over concepts from classroom discussions. I always enjoyed working with students. Maybe some of my enthusiasm for the sciences even rubbed off on them.

As a working professional who has been out of school for some time, preparing to take the GMAT/GRE for graduate school has been a bit of a nightmare. I tried studying independently for a few months, with little success. I then signed up for an expensive group prep course, only to find that the material was covered far too fast, and the homework load was out of scale with my available time. I have had a few sessions with Zach so far, and each one has taught me more about how I learn, and what I need to learn. The one-on-one teaching scenario is exactly what I needed to not be overwhelmed. Each lesson is tailored to work with my own learning style and struggles. Zach has gone out of his way to check in with me between appointments, and create tools that will aid me in my independent studies. I feel more confident about my ability to cover the material needed for the test, and more importantly I feel more emotionally equipped to tackle the learning material that a few months ago felt out of reach. After seeing how Zach has adjusted his learning tactics to suit my specific needs, I feel confident that he would be able to do the same with other students. I would highly recommend Zach to anybody that is struggling with some aspect of their education: studying for a standardized test, catching up in an academic class, or anything else. I will write another review after I take the GMAT this fall!
