I took the GMATS for the first time two weeks ago. I took the ManhattanGMAT course with Tom Rose and Mike Kim. The course was great, and MGMAT was my main (basically my only) source of study material and practice exams. I completed the exam on June 14th and received 750. I gained about 10 points in my verbal score and 25 points in quant compared to the early practice exams (not only MGMATs). I took an online course beginning in January (with Tom Rose and Mike Kim), and theLive Online Advanced Workshop more recently. I worked through the MGMAT math books extensively, and that made all the difference. In the MGMAT course, Tom and Mike were able to thoroughly explain every question we faced. What I loved about MGMAT was that they taught us the actual concepts, in a simple, easy-to-digest manner. No tricks to "beat the exam". I am now much more capable of doing basic math in my head. I can do quick calculations and estimations with no calculator, and I've found that helpful in other area of life as well. Day of the exam I felt really well prepared. The questions I faced were extremely similar to the MGMAT practice exams. Much more so than the Knewton or Kaplan tests (both of which I tried once). My scores were even closer by MGMAT then by GMAT Prep, which is the official practice exam; however, I think this is partially because I was getting nervous the two days before my exam, when I took the GMAP Prep tests. My course ended in March, but I wasn't able to study from then until after May, due to work and finishing school. Access to all the online materials closes after three months, but I emailed them, and they extended it for free. I then spent the first two weeks of June in focused prep, every night. Ended up working for me, though I probably could have done better timing-wise (and with much less stress) if I did the work as MGMAT recommended. All in all, great course. Worth every penny. I had less than 6 weeks to prepare for the GMAT and knew I needed a structured plan for my review. I signed up for the Manhattan GMAT online accelerated class and finished all the course work a week before my exam. Sure it is pricey, but I felt it was well worth the investment - I scored beyond what I thought was possible, esp. in such a short time frame. The program is very detailed and really focuses on the content, not just simple test-taking tips. The study guides drill down on the material and offer a lot of practice questions. There's also a ton of online resources too, like practice tests, challenge problems and webcasts. During your program, you also have access to weekly office hours where you talk directly with an instructor to go over problems or anything else you need help with. The classes themselves were great for reinforcing the concepts and as a forum to ask questions. I was a little concerned about doing the online version (instead of classroom) before I signed up, but in the end I really liked the platform. It is really interactive - everyone speaks via microphone and there is a chat window as well. There are two instructors so while one is teaching, you can send questions to the other instructor and get personal help while not disturbing the whole class. My instructors - Rey and Eric - were great... very clear in their explanations and had extra test tips that helped me on the day of the test. Both were super approachable. Biggest critique is that sometimes the classes went a little slowly and explanations dragged on a bit... but the instructors were open to suggestions on how to cater to the group. The MGMAT program really worked for me, but you have to have the time and focus to make it worthwhile. There is a lot of information packed into a short amount of time, especially for the accelerated class. You will only get as much out of it as you put into it. If you are looking for a prep course - this is the best investment. read more

I had an outstanding experience with Manhattan Prep in getting ready for the GMAT. I took the full nine week class with Sergio Frisoli, who was not only an excellent instructor in the classroom but also went above and beyond by making himself available outside of class via phone or email. Although I had not been in a classroom in several years and the idea of a three hour weekly session seemed daunting, the way Sergio ran the class was so engaging that I never really noticed the time going by. He mentioned at the beginning of the nine weeks that he had been a teacher prior to going to business school, and his experience clearly showed. While Manhattan has a set curriculum the instructors follow, Sergio (and, I would imagine, other instructors) don't just stick to a script; they always make time to answer questions and customize each session to fit what the students need. This flexibility made my experience that much better and had a huge influence on my score. Speaking of scores...I started the course "cold" with a baseline score in the low 600s. I sat for the exam twice and ended up with a score over 700, which was my target. Getting the nearly-100 point improvement was great, of course, and is ultimately why people take prep classes in the first place. But when I think of Manhattan, I will most remember my experience after the first time I took the exam and I did not do very well. Even though class had been done for several weeks, I reached out to Sergio and he responded immediately with several really helpful pointers about what to do in the couple weeks before I took the exam again. I even got an unsolicited email from him the night before the test, just wishing me good luck. While I haven't used another prep service so can't say this with 100 percent certainty, I highly doubt you'll be able to find a better, more personalized experience than the one you get from Manhattan. read more

Couldn't be happier with my Manhattan Prep experience. Sign up! If you do the work and stay active, it's absolutely worth every penny. My instructor, John Cho, was fantastic, and if you can find a class he's teaching, I'd highly encourage you to join it. First of all, he knows the GMAT (and LSAT, and just about every other test) inside and out, and is excellent at building the reflexes that help you avoid pitfalls and traps. He's great at keeping everyone involved and making sure every student is seeing the progress they're hoping for, which is especially important in a class environment. Perhaps most important, he's an outstanding motivator and mentor, and was able to strike the perfect balance of pushing me to do better and instilling self-confidence for test day. Plus, class was fun! My highest recommendation (and thanks) to John! Regarding the Manhattan Prep course more generally--I signed up at the recommendation of a friend and was honestly a little hesitant because I was worried a group setting might not turn out best for me, but I couldn't have been more wrong. For one, it keeps you on schedule, but just as important, it forces you to really slow down and learn to think through the "insides" of the problems. You'd be surprised how much you learn by hearing other people explain their thought process on problems when it differs from yours. The class setting also means that you're practicing problems with that added sense of urgency and healthy pressure (since you've got a few people around you working on them too) that translates to management of nerves and pressure on test day. As for the curriculum content, it's really second to none. I felt absolutely prepared by the material I received from Manhattan Prep and have no doubt you will too! read more

I worked with Manhattan GMAT for 3 months to raise my score over 100 points from mid-600s to mid-700s. Why I think Manhattan GMAT is great: 1. The instructors are best-in-class. They are intelligent, know the test extremely well (prerequisite for employment is a 99th percentile on the exam, corresponding to a 760+), and effectively explain confusing concepts using simple, easy-to-understand analogues. I formed great relationships with many of my instructors, much in part due to the great student/teacher ratio. Additionally, all classes come with 30-minutes/week of private tutoring where the tutors effectively analyze recent practice exams and guide you on a customized plan of action to get the most results out of limited time. The GMAT is a unique, adaptive test, and the knowledgeable instructors know how to play to the exams strengths and weaknesses and can teach you how to as well. 2. The proprietary Manhattan GMAT study guides are very helpful and allow one to learn the ins-and-outs of the exam. Additionally, the course comes with a very well thought out and customized lesson plan which is adaptable to one's schedule and strengths/weaknesses. 3. The company is personal and service focused (still has that small shop feel compared to the large monoliths of this business), and ONLY focuses on the GMAT - therefore dedicating all their resources to you and your exam, and not students studying for other tests. Many of the bigger competitors teach a huge range of exams, and thus dedicate only a small portion of time and resources to GMAT instructor training, course material creation, service, etc. at Manhattan GMAT, this simply isn't the case - its GMAT, and GMAT only, and their focus is on you and your success. read more

Manhattan GMAT Prep (MGMAT) is a very effective GMAT preparatory program and I would highly recommend it to anyone willing to put in the personal time to achieve a desirable score on the exam. The weekly classes covered the full range of the critical topics for the exam in an in depth manner. To really get the most out of the program, you have to be willing to put in an honest effort outside of the class completing the weekly assignments, reviewing the coming week's topics and doing as many practice questions as possible. MGMAT and your instructor are there to help throughout the process, however. My instructor was extremely knowledgeable about the material and had had a lot of experience preparing students for this particular exam. MGMAT's curriculum also provided many helpful approaches to the exam and specific question types which you were also encouraged to practice. I'm confident that MGMAT provides the most detailed and structured approach to GMAT exam prep available and that made it a great fit for me. read more

Look no further. This program leaves Kaplan and TPR in the dust. As an education professional, I know an excellent organization when I see one. The location was convenient, the materials well written and accessible, and the instruction first rate. Be warned, however, that the MGMAT prep class requires tons of work. My score increased from 620 to 700, but I worked an average of 2 hrs per day for 9 weeks to make it happen. The materials and the classroom instruction do a great job of optimizing that time so that the student gets the most out of every minute invested. Speaking of the instruction, my teacher was excellent. He knew the test inside and out, and was able break even the most difficult math problem down to manageable chunks. The content on the math side was extremely important for me. I am generally better at the verbal, but the structures Ian put in place for the Reading Comp and Reasoning questions made a huge difference. Great work everyone! read more

I highly recommend Manhattan Prep if you're looking for help with the GMAT. I was on a time crunch, and MPrep was extremely helpful and flexible in getting me set up with a tutor really quickly. When timing didn't work out with my initial tutor, the team got me set up with Logan right away. Logan was an awesome tutor - he really took the time to find out what I was looking for and what my opportunities to improve were. We were able to work on my weaknesses to improve my Quant score by 9 points in a little over a month. Logan's background in mindfulness was super helpful in settling some of my nerves with the test - which I think was the key to hitting the 700 mark. Most importantly, Logan made studying fun. I always looked forward to our sessions, it never felt like I was forcing myself to study. I think that was key to helping me hit my target score. If you're looking for one-to-one tutoring - I would definitely recommend Logan! read more

I took a corporate class and found it to be extremely helpful. My score improved 100 points from the initial practice test and 70 points from my gmat score from 5 years ago. I used kaplan my first time taking the gmat and found it to be ok. my score went up 50 points so I was happy then. Then I took the manhattan course this past year and was blown away. The instructors are great and the material was presented in a much better fashion than Kaplan. Manhattan certainly gears you towards top scores unlike Kaplan which is more concerned with improving your score and not necessarily focused on teaching you how to achieve the top scores. I would reccomend manhattan to anyone serious about getting a great score on the gmat. If you keep up with the class and listen to all of your instructor's advice you will be golden. I took a classroom-style GMAT prep course in Cambridge, MA during the summer of 2018. My teacher, Josh Yardley, was fantastic! I'd recommend him in a heartbeat. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of the question types on the GMAT. He took the time to understand each student's struggles and made sure that each explanation was a learning opportunity. His explanations were clear and succinct. I gained a lot from my self-studies, but my time in the classroom with Josh was invaluable. Manhattan Prep offered many resources for study material - paper books and eBooks, extra question banks, ability to sort questions by difficulty, video guides, etc. They are a very professional company and I highly recommend them! read more

I've had an excellent experience with MGMAT and would recommend this course for anyone planning to write their GMAT. The course pacing was appropriate for all levels, and the instructors were both knowledgeable and engaging. However, the most important aspects of the course for me were the test taking strategies, the "blueprints" to GMAT questions, and the course material, which includes strategy guides for all types of questions, as well as the official GMAT review guides with over 1000 questions.
