    The catch

I just cannot say enough great things about this charter. My wife and I took a salmon charter and it was amazing!! The captain is the most wonderful person. So friendly and wow is he good at his job. From the moment we stepped aboard he was so personable. We felt very welcomed. He took the time to talk about all kinds of things. We actually found he used to be a teacher and our son remembered him. He also said how friendly he was and that he remembered him talking about his love of fishing. Well now it seems he lives his dreams, and it suits him well! The deckhand was amazing. He was friendly but so focused and HARD working the entire trip. He was running from person to person to land fish with the nets and keep everyone baited! He was sweating. Man is he great. The whole trip was fantastic. Ok, well I have to admit, both my wife and I did have one issue....we insisted on helping chum (even though we both took motion sickness tablets before the trip, LOL!). Besides the motion sickness we had the greatest time. He put us right on the fish. We limited so fast! He knows his stuff. We will definitely be using this charter in the future. No complaints. The crew, as well as the other passengers were all so nice. It was just a fantastic day. Bravo Gold Charters! Also, the booking process was easy and nice too. If you want a pleasurable and fruitful fishing charter, book Gold Rush Charters! You will not be disappointed. Thank you Kevin and crew!

Had a great time fishing for bottom fish on this boat. We started with rock fish which did not…read moretake long to get the boats limit of 7 fish each. The skipper actually dropped the anchor to fish this spot which something that I have not seen on the ocean. We used live bait (anchovies) which kind of surprised me, but it was effective. We used light gear with 10 lb test line which was really a hoot. From there we moved a short distance and fished for flounder. These fish were small, but we were motivated because the flounders were to be the bait for our true target, which was ling cod. After the flounder we moved to another spot in deeper water to fish for ling cod. This spot was in deeper water so we couldn't anchor but the skipper did a great job of keeping us over the fish. We limited out with 2 nice size ling cods per person and a few extras for the crew. The deckhand did a great job keeping us rigged up and baited. He also filleted all the fish for a good price and did a great job. The only downer was my mistake. I like to follow the track of the boat using my phone and a marine map. Apparently, this is a huge no no. They are concerned with people stealing their spots. I totally understood the skippers concern, so I turned off my phone and put it away. As angry as he got, I'd think he would put up a sign or something telling folks that gps tracking is verboten. Or maybe something in the terms and conditions. I would definitely go bottom fishing on this boat again. The skipper has good knowledge and boat skills. If there are bottom fish to be had, he will put you on them.

Great crew. We easily limited and enjoyed the hospitality and great attitude of all aboard. You…read morecould not ask for a better charter outing. Definitely will repeat.

I got the honor to Fish with Dave on his first trip out for Ling and Rockfish 2022…read more You won't find a better Capt and Deckhand than Dave and his crew. Conditions were less than ideal, it's March and that's what we signed up for. The boat limited! It wasn't easy, but if you want to catch fish to bring home and have a Capt actually bust his ass, disregard fuel consumption to get you on fish to fill that Freezer then Capt Dave is your guy. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED. Fished with Dave three times, every time with limits! Next trip in May. Can't wait.

On their way to West Port Sunday August 30, 2020 my husband Roger received a phone call from Mariann stating the trip was cancelled due to weather. Roger was confused since the forecast was good and they still had a day before they were to leave. Mariann said their forecast looked bad and they were cancelling. Roger called one of the men that were already at West Port and told him their boat was cancelled. Roger was told that the boat was loading right then to leave for a 2 day tuna trip that night. Roger called Marianne who passed him on to Dave asking why was the trip loading for that night? Dave told him that Fridays trip was cancelled due to bad weather so he was taking the men out that night and bumped our crew. We also found out later that the other five men who were to leave with us on the 31st got moved to the 30th? WHAT? We did receive our money back but what about the gas for two vechicles (five hours each way), the time off these men took, and the tuna they were hoping to catch. (The boat came back loaded. ) This trip was planned, paid for, agreed to in writing in January 2020.
