This was good bbq. The only downside that, in a restaurant where the employees were busting their tails, we got the one slow one in the group. I've never seen such an efficient operation to bus and prep tables in my life. Most servers were on the ball, but ours wasn't. The smoked half chicken was very moist and tasty and the prices were quite fair. Amazing draft beer specials! Nice bartender. read more

Nice barbecue restaurant. Ribs were delicious, bbq chicken was awesome. Wasn't a huge fan of the Mac and cheese or the cornbread but the redskin mashed potatoes were excellent. Servers were attentive and friendly. The decor inside the restaurant is very western style! read more

My spouse left a well-crafted review and loves this place. This is an excellent barbecue restaurant and I hope they franchise! The interior is old-fashioned Gold Rush style. Barbecue is very well prepared - meaty & tender, not greasy, but flavorful. Itdoesnt need sauce but the sauces are very tasty. Yes, that's another review from me below - I wanted to leave one under my real Yelp account that has many reviews. And a new picture! Sweet tea chicken and catfish. Ohmygosh don't sleep on this one people! We walked in to tiny bar with 6 seats, being 4 of us we just filled it and had Mike, the bartender, all to ourselves, Mike cannot possibly be just the bartender, he knew EVERYTHING about the brews , the food, and made awesome suggestions! What a gift he was to us as it was our first time. Our brews were served in frosted mugs which made them next level! Three of us had the Mother Lode.. which included a little of everything! Highly recommend. I had a little problem and Mike was ALL OVER IT. Stepped up and insisted on getting something else. Out it came within minutes. DELICIOUS! Everything was so good. So happy we found this place!!! It is such a gem. The staff is so friendly and the food is delicious. My husband ordered green beans, I don't typically like green beans but these were SO GOOD. The cucumber salad was refreshing and crisp. Mac and cheese was creamy and gooey. The ribs were fall off the bone. if you are in the area this should be in your top list of places to eat! read more

What happened? This is one of our favorite places to eat when we are here visiting but not last night. we all ordered baby back ribs and all of them were tough, hard to get off the bones. Very unlike past visits when they were tender fall off the bones. The sides were mediocre at best...in fact some were cold. The food tasted like it was microwaved old food. read more

Waite staff attentive Had beer on tap beer was very cold in a true frosted mug that formed ice crystals. And great price We have had in two visits: Grouper sandwich Fried on bone cat fish (delicious) Ribs Brisket Fried cat fish off bone (this is great tasting and not muddy taste) Collard greens Pineapple bake OMG Yummy! Their food is amazing. Had their all you can chicken Sunday special. Not only is the chicken all you can eat but so are their sides. They were really busy when we came in so we thought we'd be waiting a while but they are a well oiled machine, they had our food out quick. Service is amazing, everyone is friendly and helpful there was no "let me get your server" everyone was willing to help you no matter if you were their table or not. Fun ambiance -- deer heads and nature exhibits above. They have rock candy, bbq sauce, rock jewelry, and other tchotchkes for sale. Our waiter was very attentive and did a good job of answering our questions. Wide array of food choices and sides. I got the chopped pork platter w collard greens and sweet potato fries. I was skeptical when I got quoted 30 minutes for the wait. Shockingly, the hostess was spot on. Once sat, our waitress greeted us right away. She was friendly, helpful and was quick to bring us our drinks. Throughout our experience, she was attentive. The food came out fast. We ordered the Mother Lode Combo and 1/2 Chicken both with green beans and mac and cheese. The best item was the ribs. No extra sauce was needed for those bad boys. The chicken and pork were good. The beef was skippable. The sides were tasty. The best part of this place is the price for drinks and the daily special. You can't beat $2 beers and $26 all you can eat ribs. The service is always excellent! However, for the first time in 15 years and dozens of visits, our St Louis ribs were less than good. They tasted like they had been over boiled and spent less than a few seconds on the grill. This was a take out order and I'm now not anxious to return. Too bad. read more

I had a late lunch here today. I'd heard great things about it and for good reason. The menu has alot of great options on it and will take a long time before I can try them all. Prices were about average. The amount of food I got was great though, everything was quality and tasted real good. The atmosphere here is great and seems like a great place to bring family, friends and a dates. The service was great and the food came out in a timely manner. We have driven by this place so many times and it is always packed now I know why. My husband had ribs, Cole slaw, and baked beans. He said all were great. Ribs practically fell off the bone. Spice and smoke were just right. I had pulled pork and brisket. Both were very good. Next time I will request no sauce on top. I usually like sauce, but this Q did not need it at all. The flavor on its own was awesome. Service was outstanding. Prices were fair and it was super clean. Who could ask for anything more? We will be back. read more

We were visiting the area and a local recommended this restaurant. We arrived at 3:30 pm for a late lunch and the place was already hopping with the early supper crowd rolling in. We had planned on BBQ since that's what the name implies. However, it was fried chicken day and we discovered they only serve it that day of the week...so we ordered chicken. Our meal was wonderful. We've lived in Englewood three years & passed Gold Rush BBQ many times. This is EXCELLENT pork barbecue. I feel like the sauces are made to the local taste (the hot is savory, not hot). In my opinion eating bbq should be an experience yes the meat preparations are of the utmost most importances but the sides, and desserts also have to be on point as well and of course fresh brewed tea. I wanted to try it all which is not reasonable so I read the menu, scanned the daily specials board(s) and also considered the recommendations by our wonderful server. We enjoyed some great sandwiches and sides and couldn't of had a better lunch during our drive through southwest Florida. Chopped Brisket Sandwich - the bun was fresh and toasted perfectly so it held up to the sauce that I drenched on the beautifully smoked meat, the lean to fat ratio was absolutely perfect and the smoked flavors came through making this one of the best bbq sandwiches I've eaten in a very long time. Pulled Pork Sandwich - the perfectly smoked pork was piled high and very lean, this is a big and delicious work of art. We ordered the sauce on the side so we could control the portion and it worked out great. Pinto Beans - these beans are cooked down until they melted into the smooth and creamy broth that was filled with onions and jalapeño peppers - these are a must try especially if you top them with some fresh raw onion and a few dashes of the Tabasco Pepper Vinegar table side the only thing I regret is that I didn't get a quart of these to take back to the campground. Fried Okra - Crispy deliciousness a southern delicacy served with ranch dressing, this combination is never a disappointment when done right and they do the okra right here. It was nice to get pickles and raw onions on the side, in my opinion if a bbq joint misses this step they don't understand what a bbq experience should be. We really enjoyed our meals here and appreciated the hospitality from the staff, great food, great service all at a reasonable price is always a winning combination, this is definitely a place I hope to return to soon...
