Attentive bar staff - at least my experience (I see and can COMPLETELY appreciate the complaints however of the other reviewers as rude bar staff is unacceptable - eg, Bergin's, etc, but that wasn't my specific experience here). A savvy owner will train their staff to acknowledge every patron (even outside their desired demo) so that the initial experience is positive. Wow !! Never been disrespected by bartenders and customers like this. I came with a group of 4 girls after finishing our finals med school class. Not only did we have to fight with the bartender to fix the prices for happy hour she said no there is no happy hour which is listed on menu. Her regular customers got crazy with us! The gold room security and bar staff are very unprofessional and carless to their customers. I went to the restroom right before they closed and when I came out I seen the security guard standing near my friend. I made a joke, don't kick her out I was in the restroom. And didn't realize there was tension. While there were other people in the bar still he was worried about making sure she left although she was sitting alone waiting for me to come out of the restroom. He then tried to argue with her about leaving when I came out and she told him she was waiting for me. I told him what if I was passed out in the restroom and your so busy trying to kick her out!? Another bar staff said they would have check on me and test no one checked on me while my friend told them she was waiting for me to come out of the restroom and they were trying to kick her out. And still they had other people sitting at the bar and told her not to worry about the other people there! She's one women waiting for her friend while they had another group of at least 4 people sitting at the bar chillin' and worried about my friend waiting to make sure I got out of the restroom safe while they attempted to clear out the bar improperly! Never going there again or recommending this place. I will always give this place a bad review. They didn't care for my well being. They just wanted to clear the bar and keep the people they knew at the bar! read more

I was told to leave at 1:56 a.m, I said I'd go when my friend came out of the restroom. Security guard told me I could wait outside . Why would I do that? I came in with her and I'm going out with her, mind you there were more people at the bar not being harassed to leave. I was told to mind my business about those other people. You're trying to tell me to wait outside while I wait for my friend that anything could possibly occurring in the restroom. You'd think safety is the priority but they were rude. Their weekday bouncer has denied me entry multiple times over the years because "I look too gay". I've never had any issue there when he's not working, but the bar staff all vehemently have his back when he is. Btw I'm not walking in in drag or anything, I'm literally just stopping in after work wearing a crop top. If it's okay for my workplace it should be fine at a dive bar. Foo has said I "look like a gay little boy" and that they "don't allow people like that inside inside", amongst other tactless, unprovoked comments. It was a Friday night, we went for a couple of drinks after dinner. I asked the bartender for two Michelob Ultras, the sign said they were $7 but I was charged $15. Ok, I figured maybe the extra dollar was tax or whatever. Then my friend ordered me another Michelob and he charged her $8. She then ordered two Watermelon Red Bull drinks which were priced at $12 on the board but he charged her $26. All this to say the bar is cool, it was a bit crowded but we found seats before it started to get really packed. His cocktails were very very well made. He takes his time and you can tell enjoys the craft. Tried the Double Trouble and Pineapple Express. Double Trouble is absolutely delicious - 10/10. Pineapple Express was just as good, but def loaded (has mezcal & tequila). It'll have you feeling good real quick. Drink prices are reasonable priced for LA. Same for their daily happy hour menu. Very solid beer menu too. They have a jukebox you can pay to control the music which is kinda cool. Get to hear a variety of music genres cause of it. I didn't get the name of my bartender but he was friendly and take the time to make me an excellent whiskey sour (with egg whites!), even though it was a very busy night.
