Amazing massage! My back felt relief once I left their place. Going back there for sure.

Came here again to work out some sore achy muscles from a long week of work. Did a good job, didn't seem to watch the clock so much. Nonie was my massage therapist, and if your reading this review and your looking for a legit deep tissue massage I would ask for Nonie. She seems to have the most experience. Understands English, so just tell her up front what areas need to be worked on so there's no guessing. Legit Chinese Massage. Nothing weird or shady going on here. So if your looking for "that" kind of massage I'm sure there are other locations in Sac that can help you out. Hope this sets the record straight. My guess, based on my own experience, is the negative reviews are probably true but where about the less experienced employees. Fearing that I might need surgery on my knee, I first tried massage as recommended by a Dr. friend (not an orthopedic Dr). I tried Gold River because it was close to work and I am glad I did. Nonie was able to somehow relieve pressure on the inside of my knee and also worked to open my hip flexors. Her knowledge of anatomy really assists her in her massage technique. She is pleasant and was able to give me lifestyle tips on how to keep my knee in good working order. The hourly rate is really reasonable and I plan on making a visit here several times a month. Had a great deep tissue massage. They ask for money up front which is weird. But it was definitely worth it.

I wish I could give fewer stars! When I called for an appointment, I said that my shoulder was locked up and that I had to have a DEEP massage. She told me to come in at 10:30. When I arrived, she had braces on her elbow and knee, so I felt I better make sure... "I am SO happy to be here, but I really need a deep massage. Will that be a problem?" She said (And I swear these were her exact words...), "I am hurt and I'm tired, but I'll try" to which I replied, "I'm sorry for that, but I don't want to waste your time or mine, so if you can't do a deep massage, please just tell me, and I will leave." She then said, "Everybody wants a massage and everybody wants deep and I'm tired and I'm hurt, but I'll try. You pay first!" Whoa! So I said - "I don't want to pay if you can't do a deep massage." Not to draw out a long story, but when you get older, you start getting sore in parts of your body you weren't even aware of. It seems like such a small body part, but somehow I twisted my foot just the right (or in this case) wrong way and a sharp pain went from my toe and shot up my leg. Wow! That hurt! Not to mention I've been putting in long hours of work and my shoulders and lower back had been giving me problems. I was working on a job in Carmichael, and I saw this massage sign going up and I had an hour or so before my next job, so I thought, why not? Give local small business a try at taking away some soreness and pain. You know how they say some things happen for a reason? I guess I was at the right place at the right time because the woman that was working there did not disappoint! The stiff sore back was worked over and by the time she was finished, I got up and walked out feeling like no problems existed! Now, let me make a few points here. Some people like the mamsy pamsy soft, darn near erotic massage.... This place isn't going to give that to you so don't even bother! But if you are a hard working stiff, or you work out at the gym and "kneed" some kinks and knots worked out of you, this is gonna be the place for everybody to try!! A legitimate Asian Style massage that plays soft contemporary music and doesn't smell like incense and Chinese food. Nonie seems to be the main person here, and I can't vouch for any of the other girls working there, but if you find it's hard to locate a therapist who knows how to deep tissue massage and the like, I really don't think you could be disappointed. The staff also seems very personable and , uh-hem, very easy on the eyes :-) So, bottom line. If your looking for the happy ending type massage place, search somewhere else cause you'll leave unhappy (LOL) But if your a man or woman that is looking for the real deal, deep tissue, breaking a sweat massage... this is going to be your Nirvana. They also offer Tui Na, Swedish, Back Walking, Hot Oil, Cupping and Hot Stones... I really haven't tried any of those, but I assume that all of these types of massage are just as good and professional as the one I got. We're to. Begin I drive an hour down to get here they tell me 1030 and when I get there she said she's busy come back at 1 and I said I can not and will not do that I'm here at the time u said. The massage was very very hard and I felt just violated. They don't cover u like a normal place she kept pulling my underwear down and massaging my butt, then after we're done I watch her fix the bed and use the SAME sheets I just got massaged on she didn't even change them so who knows how long they keep them on for I feel gross now. I'm not one to be picky but I can not believe what I just went thru. First off the woman that massaged me does NOT know how to massage at all. I have never in my life had someone be so rough on my back and also massage my spine which you should never have that area pressed on. Not only that but she only does your back side and when u flip over she does something that I Don't EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE JUST DUD for few minutes and then your done. Not only that but she only had a towel for my bottom when I turned around and for my breast she tried to have me keep them out In the open. Then when we were all set and done and I was left to get dressed, NOT EVEN 30 seconds later she walked in on me when I was naked pulling up my pants and acted like its no big deal lol. The worst part that had me shocked was when she made the bed table she used the same towels and nothing was changed on the bed. No wonder I felt my last towel wet when I first came In and tried to cover up. SO DISGUSTING AND HOPE PEOPLE REALLY TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AND STAY AWAY OF U WILL GET SOME KIND OF DISEASE FROM HERE. Did not get what I was expecting. Went to Gold River massage because I found it under Asian Foot massage on Yelp in Carmichael, Call before going could not understand much of what the person said. I arrived to find that they did not offer Foot Massages but did full boy with a little foot work. Well was already in the area so I got the hour massage Holly Poop! Deep tissue you betcha right down to the bone Ouch! Really id not want a rub and tug but that is what I got. Misclassified in my book will not be back.. read more

The appointment was readily avaliable, place was ok clean but did not feel comfortable, they do have private rooms however. The massage was not enjoyable and I've had many different massage experiences - estern and western- but still not enjoyable the motions were too rough & fast, it felt rushed & disingenuous. read more

The place was really clean and had a relaxing mood about it. It was my first professional massage and I got one from Cindy. Very friendly and professional! Pleasantly surprised! I looked on yelp since I needed a massage badly after months of being tight from daily gym routines. There were good reviews for this place and figured I'd give it a shot. It's a small place without much curb appeal but it was nice and clean inside and they took me right in with short notice. It ended up being a fantastic massage. Very professional and she really focused on my areas with large knots. She massaged my feet, hands, and scalp too. I would definitely recommend this place. This is an amazing therapeutic massage place with skillful therapists who know how to relieve pain from patients using acupressure technique. Nonie is definitely the best massage therapist in the Greater Sacramento area. I had been popping painkillers to help me sleep due to arthritic conditions in my neck and upper body, and I could hardly lift my arms above my head. Turning my head was a struggle too due to the pain, and that made driving a car dangerous because I could not turn my head to see the blind spot. Time to see a good therapist, and I found Nonie at Gold River in Carmichael. After one hour of left shoulder and neck deep tissue massage and soothing with hot stone, and another hour on the right (two separate sessions), I can now turn my head freely, and my shoulders and arms are back to my normal self with unobstructed movement. She also advised that may be my mattress is too soft for my not-so-young body. She may be right, and I am going to get myself a Tempurpedic mattress! It's great to know there is a true massage therapist in town who knows what she's doing. I highly recommend her, and she deserves a handsome tip.... read more

I found this place on Yelp and it looked like it had a pretty good rating. I was skeptical once I got there, but I figured I would give it a try. My experience started off not to hot. The women were not very personable, and it sounded like they were arguing loudly in their language in another room. One woman lead me to my room and told me to take off my clothes and left. I've had one massage before and I didn't have to take off my clothes so I was confused. This was awkward to say the least. I told them I just wanted a back massage and kept my pants on. The atmosphere was relaxing but it didn't cover the fact that this massage sucked. Another review talked about pressing on her spine and that's exactly what my massage was. It was not pleasant it was actually mostly painful. Afterwards she watched me put my top and jacket back on...awkward. Then as I was walking out she offered me some candy which I thought was nice. If there was a negative star this would be the one. I am not sure where the other people have been but honestly my husband and I have a place we normally go to but we're in this area so we stopped here. My husband's back was hurting really bad and we had some more things to do in the area. We went in and they said 45 dollars each for 1 hour and you had to pay up front. We thought that was weird... should have got the the point there. We told them we go for massages weekly and never pay up front. They said we had to. So we did. Got in the room and she put a towel on my back and was just pushing on my back for 15 minutes. Finally I said do you massage my back? I have a chiropractor. Long story short honestly I had to tell her how to massage my back the rest of the time, to use her thumbs...to do my shoulders. I have NEVER walked out early on a massage and especially since I had already paid. This place has to be for like happy endings or something. For them to still be open they are doing something someone likes but it is not massage. I was in hope that my husband's lady was better since he was the one in pain and he was just as pissed and hurting worse he said. I did not hirt after but was very pissed. He honestly had to pay our place in Roseville that same night to loosen him up. The 12 minute massages in the middle of the mall are like 10 ' s in my book compared to this place. read more
