    Steam pork soup dumplings

My daughter and husband wanted to try fresh dumplings. This was recommended to us by a common friend turned out to be super delicious. They enjoyed and mentioned they can't wait to try more food from this place.

After trying their Groton location, we tried the West Hartford location! We tried the pork and cabbage dumplings and they were fantastic but we enjoy the chicken and corn better. We also tried the gluten free noodles which were thick and more like a lo mein than we've had in years! Extremely excited to see almost their whole menu can be gluten free and can't wait to go back. Part 2: we did go back already and got the chicken and corn dumplings, the orange chicken (more honey than orange) and their salt and pepper fries. All gluten free, all fantastic and just the same as the Groton location!

A new restaurant recently opened on Park Avenue, which we discovered through Weha.com, and we were eager to try it out. We stopped in after some college shopping, and their big claim is that they offer gluten-free dumplings. While I don't follow a gluten-free diet, they have separate menus for those who do. The staff was very friendly and eager to help, and although "english" wasn't a specialty, they provided us with a handheld device to input our orders, which was very cool. Everything we tried was very fresh. The handmade egg roll was delicious, and we also ordered their homemade noodles with vegetables, which were a hit at our table. The pork fried rice was wonderful as well. The biggest surprise was the chicken and corn dish; it didn't taste like chicken at all, and I didn't initially notice the corn. This was my favorite, and I ended up eating most of it. We also ordered the BBQ ribs, which were good, but we were too full to finish them. Overall, it was a fantastic addition to Park Road, and we will definitely be back!

I had a great first takeout experience from Gold Dumpling yesterday! While there are a few tables inside to eat, it is definitely small and fairly plain, so I would say it is better suited for takeout. The food was quite impressive. I tried the pan fried vegetarian dumplings and the veggie lo mein featuring their handmade noodles. I am extremely critical of dumplings, typically finding the fillings bland and mushy, and I'm almost always disappointed. These were so yummy, with a chunky flavorful filling of vegetables and even some starchy noodle. The wrappers were fresh, and a terrific balance of tender but still firm enough. I enjoyed the sauce that came with them (the spicy version) and appreciated the thicker consistency as opposed to what is more common. The lo mein was also excellent, but that is much more my usual speed, meaning I prefer the dish but also have higher hopes for it. There were plenty of fresh vegetables neither to crunchy or overdone, and the handmade noodles shined. The texture was prefect. Both dishes are often quite oily or greasy, and these were beautifully prepared and far from it. Although I did not try them, a family member had the pan fried chicken & corn dumplings and thought they were all excellent. They have an extensive gluten free menu that I look forward to trying in the future, and only use natural colors for their colorful dumplings (beet/carrot juice, etc...) The staff was friendly when I picked up my order too! I look forward to ordering takeout from them again. I would say that they outshine most of my other local options!

Very happy I finally craved Chinese food so I can visit Gold Dumpling in WEHA, right on Park Rd. Such a wonderful addition to have! Now I can have Gluten free Bao!! Whoohoo!! They have a regular menu and then the GF menu . Same options. It's very simple. 4 tables , many people order to go because it's very small in the restaurant. Service is great! Friendly, helpful. Everyone is very nice. Prices I thought were great. The food I was extremely happy with. Everything had flavor, good portions. I can't complain. The fried chicken wings were GF. Very crisp, pretty big too. You are served in paper plates if you eat in so it's very casual ! Looks like I found my go to place for gluten free Chinese! The best part is they have dedicated fryers and are careful with cross contamination for GF! Amazing!!

So we finally got to try Gold Dumpling in WeHa!! My husband is gluten free, he was excited to try this place. He got to speak with the owner, everyone was very nice. There are a few tables so you can eat there. We got take out. He got deep fried dumplings and wings gluten free. I got non gf veggie lo mein and pork bao buns. We enjoyed everything. Although the bao buns were good, I expected them to be white and fluffy. Idk I guess they make them differently. I would go back and try other menu items.

Today we had lunch at Gold Dumpling! The bao was the best I ever had and we really enjoyed trying the different dumplings (beef, pork, chicken, veg). The owners so nice and came to the table to help us with the menu. We also ordered a sesame chicken to split. There are 4 tables seating inside if you eat in the restaurant. And lots of fun pictures of the food and how they use natural ingredients to make the different color! I really can't wait to try more flavors of bao on my next visit. Thank you so much!

So far so good. They only have dumpling and buns so far. Got the colorful shrimp dumplings and they are very good. Filling is legit. Dipping sauce was very spicy! Will return when they have the entire menu available. Fresh Juices available as well.

General Tso's chicken and pork fried dumplings.

Delicious gluten free pork fried dumplings and gluten free General Tso's chicken. Great to be able to have safe gluten free Chinese food!! The only slight negative would be I wish the fried rice had more flavor. Will definitely be back!!!

Incredible quality across the board. Just like their namesake, their dumplings are golden. The Colorful Shrimp Dumpling and the Pork & Chive Dumpling were outstanding. I also recommend the Pork Bao Bun. I cannot wait to order from here again and try more menu items.

really flavorful and delicious food! we got the rainbow shrimp dumplings that i did not love but the pork and cabbage ones were delicious. The vegetable noodles were amazing and my boyfriend really likes the sesame chicken as well. We got take out but there are a few tables inside and the owners were lovely. I would definitely recommend trying it out here!

Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good. It's not very well lit, gave the place a very dark air about it. But as a restaurant, it's pretty good. There's a lot of great places in that area, and this one's a good option if you're looking for small plates.

Lunch specials are smaller portion, but good for the price (raised to $12.95 now since my last menu photo) We split a lot of dishes because we couldn't decide: Wonton soup appetizer {4.5/5}: Loved how delicate the wontons were and the clear broth was great for a cold day. Tad too salty though. Lunch special --Braised pork belly {3/5}: Very tender, but kind of monotone in flavor. Very filling! Lunch special --Hot and sour gizzards {4.5/5}: This might freak people out in terms of texture, but I LOVE this texture. Good chew and pops of heat from the peppers and acid from the pickled green beans Lunch special --Cumin dish lamb {3/5}: kind of chewy and not as much flavor as I wished, but not bad! Chicken wings {3/5}: Crunchyyyy. Battered wings, not as much flavor as their chongqing chicken which I prefer, but not bad

Outside is very much a busy shopping plaza in not the best part of town. Inside is a completely different story. Very clean and spacious, lots of booths and tables. Decorated well and a lot to see. The staff were friendly but there was a slight language barrier. We fumbled through the menu and found some bites to try. Food came out relatively quick, and that was a bit to manage because there were a lot of plates brought rather quickly. We got pics and dug in. The bites were flavored well. Nothing felt too greasy or under seasoned. The white pepper chicken was very crispy. But not a lot of chicken on each bite. The sweet and sour soup was both sweet and sour, but balanced enough that you could keep on eating it. The dumplings were fresh noodles and the filling was spiced well. The only flop was the spare ribs. Really tasty sauce, but very little meat on the bone. Had to suck on the bones to scrape enough meat off to make it a proper appetizer. It tasted good, just was not easy to eat. Price for the area was high for the neighborhood. It's got the quality and the flavor to command that price easily, but it doesn't match the stores. It's really good, but know that you're getting the real deal sichuan experience. Expect some heat, some saucy fingers, and some bones, and you'll get some really good bites

The space is absolutely beautiful: modern, bright, and spotless. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out piping hot. They bring each dish out as it's ready instead of all at once, so keep that in mind if you like everything served together. Personally, I didn't mind because it just meant my soup was perfect when it arrived, and my son's appetizer followed shortly after. I didn't check out the bathrooms this time, but judging by the rest of the restaurant, I'm sure they're just as immaculate. Black Bamboo is the only Chinese food I'll eat, period. If you know me, you know I'm picky, and this place never disappoints. Every bite tastes fresh, the service is friendly, and the vibe is always calm and inviting. Over the years I have had everything on the menu, and I've never had a bad meal. My personal favorites: the egg rolls, scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup and their fried rice, which I honestly think is the best in the world, period. My son is all about their beef teriyaki and it's his go-to every single time. This is exactly the kind of place where you can try something new and know it's going to be good. I recently ordered the chop suey and egg foo young for the first time ever, and both were fantastic. If you've been curious to branch out, this is where you want to do it; you can't go wrong. Also, they have real duck sauce for a small upcharge. Not just stuff in the packet (yuck). So if you're craving Chinese food in West Hartford, go to Black Bamboo. You'll taste the quality, feel the difference, and probably end up like me... a loyal regular who can't eat Chinese anywhere else.

Sapporo Premium Beer is Japan's oldest beer brand, founded in Hokkaido in 1876 by brewer Seibei Nakagawa. Known for a crisp, refined taste with a clean, dry finish, it is a pilsner-style lager (roughly 4.7-5.2% ABV) frequently packaged in iconic silver cans. It pairs well with Japanese food and is known for its high-quality ingredients and brewing standards. It was founded in 1876 during Japan's Meiji-era modernization in Hokkaido, it is the nation's first and oldest beer. The world headquarters of Sapporo Breweries is in Ebisu, Shibuya, Tokyo, and it also operates a renowned museum in Sapporo. As for taste, it's a golden-colored, light-to-medium-bodied lager with mild bitterness, a subtle sweet malt aroma, and a sharp finish.. While technically a Japanese beer, many cans sold in the U.S. are brewed in places like Escondido, California, and Richmond, Virginia, Key products include Sapporo Premium Lager, Sapporo Black, and Yebisu. This is THE beer to have with this cuisine (Chengdu or Szechuan). This is good! It's ice cold too! For our appetizers, we are having the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings and Spicy Flavored Jelly Noodles which are dressed in scallions, ginger, garlic, celery and cilantro. These are good! They come with soy sauce. The noodles are made from mong beans. Mung beans (Vigna radiata) are small, green legumes native to India, widely cultivated in Asia, and known as green gram or moong bean. They are a highly nutritious, versatile ingredient, rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, used in both savory dishes (soups, curries, noodles) and sweet desserts, often sprouted for increased nutritional value. Mung beans are easy to cook, require little to no presoaking, and offer health benefits like antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I am also having the Seafood Hot and Sour Soup (small size). This seafood soup is good! Not too spicy! It's similar to the standard Chinese hot and sour soup in taste. For my entree, i'm having the Sliced Chicken with Crunchy Rice. This is made with chicken slices, crunchy rice, black fungus, ginger, scallions, garlic, pickled chili peppers, lettuce and pea sprouts. They fold the crispy rice and put it on top. This is piping hot! Spicy too! For dessert, we are having a Chocolate Truffle (made with Zabione cream center surrounded by chocolate gelato and caramelized hazelnuts topped with cocoa powder), Cappuccino Truffle (made with cappuccino gelato with a heart of espresso covered with coffee flavored merinique sprinkles) and Capps Pistachio (custard gelato swirled with chocolate and pistachio gelato ago topped with praline pistachios). Zabaione (or zabaglione) is a classic Italian dessert made from whipped egg yolks, sugar, and sweet wine (traditionally Marsala) cooked gently over a double boiler until light, foamy, and custard-like. It can be served warm as a sauce over fruit or cookies, or chilled as a standalone dessert, often garnished with berries or biscotti. The name comes from the Venetian word for "whipped," reflecting its airy texture. These are absolutely great!
