I arrived on time for my appointment only to be informed by the receptionist that my appointment had been canceled due to a lack of confirmation. I explained that I had never received a phone call, text message, or any other communication requesting confirmation. Upon reviewing my information, the staff discovered that my chart contained two outdated phone numbers. When I originally scheduled my appointment, along with appointments for my children, I provided my current phone number and address. It became apparent that the office updated my children's information but failed to update my own information, resulting in the office attempting to contact me using incorrect phone numbers. Rather than acknowledging the office's error and attempting to accommodate me, another employee, who appeared to be a manager, made the comment, "We're the only office that accepts Medicaid." This statement was completely irrelevant to the situation and highly inappropriate. I responded by asking why she was telling me that, as I do not have Medicaid. The comment felt derogatory, dismissive, and unprofessional. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of empathy and customer service. Despite the cancellation resulting from the office's failure to maintain accurate patient records, staff refused to place me back on the schedule that day. Instead, they offered me an appointment during the week. I explained that I have relied on Saturday appointments for years due to my schedule and that this was one of the reasons I have remained a patient with Great Expressions. I was then informed that Saturday appointments are no longer offered. The entire interaction left me feeling disrespected, dismissed, and undervalued as a patient. I took time out of my day to attend an appointment that I had scheduled months in advance, only to be turned away because of an error made by the office. The staff's response and the manager's inappropriate comment only made the situation worse.
