They are well known for their pediatric care, and the space they provide is beyond kid friendly. If your lucky, Brittany will be your hygienist, she was like a friend I haven't seen in a long time! I went in there with an infection in one tooth that needed to be pulled. All I wanted was the tooth to be extracted and one tooth to replace it. Well, by the time I was done, after many, many, many x-rays, and two or three visits, they told me they could pull the tooth, and do all this complicated bridge work (pulling three additional teeth), and how beautiful they would look. At this time the tooth was still infected and not extracted. First they had me go into the billing office and talk with someone about how much the insurance would pay and how much I would pay out of pocket. Total out of pocket (not including what the insurance would pay, was about $12,000.00. Why is no one talking about the cost of their procedure in this beautiful dental office with the most modern equipment?? Needless to say, I never went back. Went to another dentist and had the infected tooth pulled. Give me an experienced older dentist, seeing one patient at a time, anytime. read more

This office mischarged me and my insurance for services they did not do and what they do was done poorly.

After having to change dentists because the one we had for 15 years decided to go cash only, we eventually decided on Pine Bush Dental Group. The first appointment was mine, and it took place in January 2025. I thought it would be a full cleaning, but no. The first appointment was just an intake and x-rays as they refused to do the cleaning since I'd had spinal fusions (the most recent in 2022). They never informed me I'd have to get clearance from my neurosurgeon that needed to state I didn't need any kind of prophylactics prior to teeth cleaning. I know how people with certain heart and immune system issues as well as organ transplant patients need to to take preventative meds prior to cleanings, but I'd never heard of it or ever had to request one due to spinal fusion for any other dentist or oral surgeon. The dental practice "didn't want to take a chance just in case", so I got the required clearance. My cleaning was scheduled for mid-February but due to a few cancellations on their part (hygienist ill, hygienist taking time off), I finally got in for the cleaning in late July. My hygienist was wonderful and did a very thorough job. Nothing she did was painful or out of the ordinary which is good news for people not really thrilled about going to a dentist twice a year. She took time to state what she'd be doing at every step and continually asked after my comfort. Unfortunately she's only there during the summers as she teaches for the SUNY dental program the rest of the year. The office was very clean and had an open feel to it. Some of the music played on the large screen televisions in the waiting area was rather inappropriate for kids, though. A song by Ceelo Green titled 'F*&k You' played loudly with no bleeps on the swear words or over the large dialog box onscreen proclaiming the title. The waiting area was full of people, about half of whom were young children, and at least two of them loudly commented on hearing the 'bad word' while repeating it loudly and giggling. Not exactly a word you want your two year old repeat machine picking up, you know? The reason for docking a star is how long it takes to get an appointment here. For new patients, the wait is upwards of four to five months. Booking that far out inevitably ends up with at least one or two reschedules which pushes the appointment out even further. When registering prior to the appointment and filling out paperwork online, I did give a very complete medical history. If some kind of clearance paperwork needs to be obtained prior to the first appointment so the cleaning can actually happen instead of being rescheduled for another time, it would be best for the practice to tell patients this ahead of time. Not everyone has a flexible schedule which makes getting time off for any reason difficult. While I was a little annoyed at having to make another appointment after getting the clearance letter (which by the way the practice won't help patients with this - they only give an email address to which the clearance can be sent), I can imagine how upset someone else might be if getting time off is extremely difficult. Plus, I am lucky that my neurosurgeon has an amazing staff who sent me the clearance right away. Not every doctor's office is like that, and the cleaning appointment couldn't be rescheduled until the dental practice had the letter on file. Something should be added to the online registration, in a way patients cannot miss it, advising them that if they have condition(s) a, b, c, d, etc., then they need to get a clearance letter from their doctor BEFORE they arrive at their first appointment so the cleaning can take place as scheduled. Overall, I think me and my family will be happy with Pine Bush Dental Group. They're friendly and take time with each patient to explain findings or answer questions. The office and treatment bays are bright and clean. Being so busy makes it hard to get an appointment, and while they claim to have a patient waitlist they use any time a cancellation is made, I really have to question whether or not a waitlist exists and if it does which of the desk staff actually use it. It seems like there are kinks in how smoothly everything functions due to how busy they are, though hopefully they're actively working on resolving said kinks. Growing pains aside, I'm happy with how my visit/cleaning went. read more

Pine Bush Resident here. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. They'll over charge, and then look for something else to charge you for. 1.They had me pay up front, and didn't even perform what i was charged for. And made an excuse on why they don't owe me. 2.I had an emergency and they tried to milk that, DONT THINK SO! Perhaps they have no ethics. 3.When i requested my records, they held them hostage because either their feelings were hurt. Or perhaps because my money is no longer going to their Botox injected manager/receptionist . 4.i just saved you some $$$, you're welcome. No charge On to google reviews next! read more

if I could give no stars I would. They are absolute crooks. They place me in an i surance category for someone who has dental issues which upped my copay without ever making me aware. I am I. my 50's and never had a cavity. the receptionist said I would understand the logic behind their billing. I am going to file a complaint with the state medical review board as well. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with this dental practice. I went in for a cleaning and after X-rays and evaluation they refused to clean my teeth saying that I needed a deep cleaning and that my dental insurance would not cover and would be out of pocket. My kids dental appointments they repeatedly did services to them that were not covered by my dental insurance and then I had to pay out of pocket. They also did not inform me that those services were not covered and that they would be out of pocket. Lastly, I went for my kids appointments and they told me that they canceled their appointments and that they were removing my family from their practice but they did not inform me of that prior to the appointments. They claimed that they mailed me a letter but I did not receive a letter and they could have easily called, texted or emailed to notify me prior to my arrival and not wasted my time. Not only did I not get the services my insurance was charged for I did not get the service redone by a real dentist office because the service could not be done in 2 years. I placed a complaint and appeal and their receptionist / administrator lied to my insurance company. I had to change insurance companies in order to get the root scaling I needed. I really like this dental practice and the especially kind Dr. Joseph. I moved to Gardiner from NYC and am used to getting top-notch restorative and cosmetic dental procedures, and I have to say they did not disappoint. Their facilities are very clean and fresh, and all of their machines are updated and modern. In fact, I was able to get a zirconia crown the same day whereas in the past I have to wait two weeks for the dental lab to deliver it to the dentist. I would say their prices are reasonable and customary, not cheap, but considering the care, attention, and courteous professionalism, and quality product they provide it is well worth it. I found Dr. Joseph's explanations and details about what I needed to do to be very clear and specific. I will definitely back....hopefully not too soon. ;) read more

Look. There are great reviews about PBD from people who've had an emergency but then the reviews seem to spiral into it's a factory and I see different hygenists or the desk is rude. I can see how it might seem like a "dental factory." Here's my experience: I've been twice and seen my hygenist, Ashley, twice. She is lovely, professional and stood up to my questioning with grace and good answers. Having read the reviews I was very mistrustful but when we talked through things, she listened carefully and we came up with a plan. Now the dentist barely said a word - I think he asked how I was. He checked things out, said good, good and left. Why did he act this way? Maybe because I was a bit rude or he was busy. Im not used to a large office. My old dentist didn't spend a lot of time with me but he chatted and made sure I was healthy including looking for lumps and other signs of a health issue. In that former office, everyone was friendly. We shared travel, pet and weather stories and I was always glad to see the team from the same hygenist to the dentist to the front desl. And to be fair to the PBD team, I thought the woman at the front desk who worked with me today was very nice. They'd changed my appointment at the last minute which irked me. Given the reviews, I assumed they were just changing my appointment - Im talking 15 minutes - because of the factory thing so I asked why. She responded with a very friendly, professional and apologetic answer. So maybe it's just a large practice with a lot of patients. One of the reasons I asked was to understand what's going on behind the scenes. Maybe it's stressful for the front desk because there always seem to be a lot of patients being handled. So far, everyone has been friendly to me. I would suggest the practice address the negative reviews by explaining why their practice works the way it does. Otherwise suspicions grow. My two visits have been pretty good all round despite the fact that it probably wasn't a "pretty good" experience for the staff dealing with someone like me. read more

I loved this place at first.. I was impressed by their advanced technology, and the fact that they are open every other Sunday was a huge bonus when I had two young babies at home and couldn't get to appointments during the week. When it came time to get some dental work done, the problems began. They do not allow you to make an appointment unless you pay half of your future visit upfront - not a huge deal, I've just never had to do that at any other office before. A couple of weeks before the initial COVID lockdown, I had a crown put in on a back molar, and I was still having major pain. I was told that my gums just had to adjust and that it was normal. I was basically just dismissed. Fast forward to the lockdown, I woke up with the most intense and excruciating pain I've ever felt in my life and I was literally in tears. I called the dentist the next morning and he told me it was probably an infection and I made an appointment for which turned out to be an emergency root canal (the same side and area where I felt the pain during my initial appointment). I went in and the dentist did the root canal, and at some point during the appointment the office manager came into the room and sat down next me. She told me that I had to pay for at least half of the crown that day, although since everything was currently shut down, she did not know when they would receive and be able to place the permanent crown. So to clarify, she was asking me to pay for something I could not even make an appointment for at that time, and that we didn't even know would ever happen. I told her that I did not have the money at that time, after all, this was an emergency and I had not planned for this, yet she was still pressuring me to try and pay. Prior to ANY dental appointment I ever have, I ask for my total amount due at the following appointment so that I can make sure I can pay it the day of. When I politely declined, she was no longer friendly or nice to me. I went in when things were starting to open back up and the crown was ready, and never went back after that. It was not the first time I felt more than pressured about paying upfront for things at this office, and although I ALWAYS pay when something is due, it left a horrible impression and I will never go back. read more

Dentistry is excellent, but the staff are rude and outright ridiculous in their behavior towards patients. I asked to speak to the doctor directly about one receptionist in particular and I was told he would contact me. He did not, so I can only guess that he condones that kind of behavior towards his patients. Switched dentists. Clue: patients are also customers and deserve to be treated with respect. If I wouldn't tolerate being treated rudely from a retail salesperson then why should I tolerate it from a receptionist at a dentist's office? Is it acceptable because they work for a doctor? I can tell you they are awesome!!! The dentist are great at both offices pine bush and Newburgh. The staff at the front desk are also awesome!!
