(Started in 2019) There are not enough words to describe the horror of my experience with Gold Coast Pool Construction. One year after the completion of our pool, we now have a broken empty shell of a pool in our backyard. There are cracks all over the pool, including one that goes entirely across the middle of the pool from edge to edge. It won't hold enough water to run the filters for even a single day. Ken just told me today that his insurance is unwilling to cover the repairs because of his poor work. This is after several months of dealing with him making promises that are broken at every turn. I now face the prospect of paying double to have another contractor remove the pool Gold Coast constructed and properly install a new one at twice the cost of the original. Guarantees are worthless if the contractor is unable to to support them. (Continued 2021) After paying lawyers tens of thousands of dollars and dealing with the legal system over the course of the last couple years, I've finally reached a settlement with the insurance company representing Gold Coast Pool Construction. It's not pleasant, it doesn't make up for the lies, stress, and years of lost enjoyment of my own home, and it certainly wasn't cheap, nor does the settlement cover all of my expenses. Gold Coast Pool Construction did not stand by it's contract. They built a broken pool and could or would not provide repairs, and Ken repeatedly lied to me about what he was doing. The only positive is the pool looks good. And that's it. Crew was amazing, But dealing with Ken was and has been the worst. We're we're told it would take 3-4months, he took 9months to build our pool. After the going over the schematics of our design and where we wanted the pool placed, to our surprise when we came home from work it was 9ft closer to our sliding door, we thought this was a joke. The process was horrible, we'd go 3-4 days with out anyone working on our pool, we'd have to be constantly calling Ken, I think he may have a disability. We'd soon come to find out he'd have the same crew working on other job sites while our pool should've been worked on. But the worst part of this after just under 2 years we're still having issues, he should've ran a complete different beaker to the pool breaker box, but instead he ran the outlet to our kitchen so every time it rains and our pool pump kicks on it trips our entire kitchen and shuts our power of. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They took our deposit for $7,000 to design and permit a pool and then POOF he disappeared. Just like all the other reviews. Excuses!!!!! Said he was at a family funeral. Told my office he had a heart attack. We actually felt bad for him. And then I went onto Yelp! BEWARE of this scammer!!! We will be legally pursuing all of our rights to recover our deposit. We hired Kenn (the owner) to construct a new pool in our backyard. We agreed upon a price and start date, gave him an initial deposit of $4000 for engineering and permits and then he vanished. We texted, called and emailed him and when he responded (much delayed) there was always a new excuse! Four weeks went by and we didn't even have a rough sketch of the proposed pool...but he had our money! During the course of these four weeks, Kenn stated a relative died, his engineers place of business was destroyed and that another relative who used to work on projects with him had died a few months previous. We understand that life happens but this series of setbacks seemed contrived and without merit. Even if it was all true, it doesn't mean you can checkout, not return calls, etc. and refuse to communicate with the client for weeks at a time. When pressed for information, Kenn stated our plans had been submitted to LA Dept. of Building and Safety for permitting, but when we asked for a copy of the permit submission or a receipt...he couldn't provide this. He stated the engineer had completed the plan, but when we asked for a copy or at least the face page with the drawing...he couldn't produce this either. It became clear that he was lying. Unacceptable. We initially tried to be flexible and understanding, but the poor communication, lack of work product, and deceit just worsened. Kenn presents as a friendly, knowledgeable guy, but something isn't quite right. We were able to get our deposit back, but his unprofessionalism and stalling cost us several months and we now WILL NOT have a pool this Summer. read more

Save your money . This is literally the worst company I have ever dealt with .ken is a liar and a scam . He makes promises that he never come thru with . They charged me 100k to remodel my pool one year later the electrical is not working . He doesn't pick up the phone nor does he answer text messages or phone calls. Ken is great! Go to him if you're building a pool. He stuck to the proposed budget and finished waaaay ahead of schedule. He even takes financing with no drama. I wasn't very well educated about the pool process but Ken was very patient and helpful. I feel like the only big decisions I needed to make was what color tiles I wanted. We waited a long time to save money for our first pool. Kenn is great, very patient and goes slow through the process of what is going to happen next. He answered all of our questions along the way. I was a little hesitant to go with the least expensive bid, but I am glad I did. Keen and his crew did an excellent job on a difficult hillside property.
