You are wrong . You said you don't know what's wrong and you advised to change and upgrade the panel . Basically you wanted to charge me more than $2000 for unnecessary upgrade . My commentary is for (only) the pool inflatables that they have because they deserve attention.. What on earth would one say about inflatables?? Well, they have always caught my eye (especially the Christmas ones); they are seasonal and substantially BIG, some barely fit in the display windows, can be unusual designs and great for Instagram props They are in the store windows even during Christmas and add to the street's display at that time of year and of course, year round. . The store fits nicely in with the street 's decor/archtecture as well, amongst chi chi wine tasting bars, gift shops and specialty eateries, etc. So if you need a fabulous one fast, and want to see what they look like......take a trip down Main St. Main St. is quickly becoming (has become) a fashionable trendy one. I had neglected to get my pool filter cleaned out in a timely fashion (my fault for forgetting about it!) and their service tec Adam got it cleaned out and running in top shape + recommended adding the crystal device to keep algae at bay. Maybe it's just me but probably not. I would rather drive to Mac's than stand in line at Leslie's. We are limited to the pool supply places in this valley. I bought acid, chlorine and salt this week. Cleaned the filter and decided to take my water to Mac's and have it tested. I walked in and talked to the guy at the counter. He seemed Unhappy he was there. Now here's a first: I handed the bottle of water to the guy and he said, "What do you want it tested for?" Really? Test it like every other bottle of water that comes in so I know if I need more chemicals or not. Seems like a fairly simple concept. Most likely won't be coming back, at least they aren't rude at Leslie's Prices are in line with every one else so it has to come back to customer service. My husband and I have had an above ground pool for years and decided to upgrade this year. We started shopping early to get a head of all the installs. Bakersfield customer service was horrible so we reached out to a near by pool business that has high ratings. The company isn't to far from us so we thought why not. Well, now I am regretting this decision. Our pool was installed beautifully but the sand filter is not working correctly. It is brand new so we called the manufacturer and they said go back to the business that sold it. We called Mac's and Wendy has not been helping. She gave us a number to a repair guy that is so busy he can't come look at it and Mac's pool doesn't seem to care except it a busy season. They didn't forget to call us for the payment and the customer service was great buying the product but can not seem to get them to care that my pump throws sand back into my pool. I get it cleaned and after pump runs the sand is back. Maybe after this review they will care and reach out. I hope they had a fantastic weekend enjoying their pool as all I do is vacuum my brand new pool. read more

I called them about a new pool pump and was told that no one was available to answer questions or give a price at that time but "we'll get back to you". The next day I get a call from "ADAM" who was totally unprofessional, wanted to charge WAY more then any other company that I talked to and then to top it off he straight-up lied to me about a top of the line Pentair pump just because he doesn't offer their brand of products. No thanks dude! After speaking with several pool service companies, I decided to go with a small local company called Signa Pool Service to install my new pool pump and I'm very glad I did. Went in to purchase a part that I should have ordered off of Amazon for half the price, but was in a bind so I made the purchase. The older gentleman at the counter seemed irritated when I asked to see the part before purchasing. Overall just came off as I was just a woman and didn't know what I was doing. Boy was he wrong! By the time I checked out I had already decided I would most likely not be back. Three stars are for the service department. You can bring in anything and they will find the issue and replace parts as needed. They do not charge for anything but the parts which seems like it would be worth the trip. You will however spend just as much at another chain pool store as you would here on the parts. read more

Our pool pump went out while I was out of town & my wife called for service. The tech was unable to find parts for the Pentair pump (largest pump manufacturer). Advised her that if not replaced, it would explode! She agreed and they installed a Hayward - Much louder. Used black PVC & painted it brown to match, well I don't know - rest of PVC is white. Complained to manager about noise and quality of install, he said his tech wouldn't try to scare someone, implying either my wife lies or I do, and that 'at least he tried'. Hayward got very noisy in a year or so, and with a service call they replaced motor. Another 2 years and it failed to run & for another service charge, they would try to fix it. They must have a deal with Hayward because that's their flagship brand - must be cash cow for service calls. Used another company who installed Pentair and am done forever with Mac's. read more

I was told by the very nice man at the desk that the owner does all the pool service set up himself and that he would call me the next day to set up an appointment to come by and check out my pool and establish service. Well, the owner must not need the extra business because he never called me. Although the man who assisted me at the store was very knowledgeable, I can't support Mac's because when the owner himself doesn't follow up with a customer, well, that doesn't exude good customer service. read more

For routine supplies the place is fine. The guys working the counter are friendly and helpful. The prices are the same as any other pool supply store. But don't ask them to do any work on your pool. My heater was acting up and I asked them for a recommendation. They said they had a guy who works on pool equipment. Takes a while to hear from him, then he comes out, spends less than a half hour working on the heater, tells me I need a new heater, hands me a $3300 proposal and demands payment of $135 for the half hour he spent. Had another guy look at it who said it needed a $100 part. He put the part in and the heater worked fine. And he charged $60 for the visit. Turns out the guy who came out was the owner's son. Don't know if that's their nomal MO, but I won't be shopping there anymore. read more

Wow!!! Great Service, fast, no stress, and $25 less than the other place. My boyfriends pool and jacuzzi suddenly stopped working. We heard something pop. It was a broken valve piece. We needed immediate help. The other place did not have part and said it was special order. We run to Macs! And boom. My spa spills into the pool and I had a problem with the water level going down after the pump shut off. I thought it was a leak and was prepared to spend an unwanted amount of money on leak detection and repair. I called Mac's for a recommendation and Mark had me examine the check valves. Recently had an interesting experience with Mac's Pools. I was contacted by them and informed that I had missed a payment over a year ago, back in 2018. As I have my payments to Mac's automatically debited from my Bank of America account and mailed to them, I checked and found that I had made 13 payments in 2018. I informed them of this. They insisted that I go to my bank and obtain all of the check numbers for the 13 payments. I told them that I would be happy to print out the payment history, but I was not going to spend an hour at the bank to fix their mistake. The result was that they canceled the account of a ten year customer, stating that they were making personnel cuts and consequently also were making cuts in customers, including ten year customers. It's their prerogative to cancel the account, but they should at least be honest about why they are doing it. Shame on you Mac's for your dishonesty. Don't let Mac's try to scam you by telling you that you missed a payment when it's not true. You would think an established business would be above this type of behavior, but apparently they are not. read more

I called in for service on my spa. I called the first time to schedule a service call. I was told that they could come out in a couple of days, however they would return my phone call to schedule an exact time. Never heard back. I called back two weeks later and requested the service again and also explained that I called before and never heard back. I was promised that I would be called back. Still waiting for a call back five days later. I am not a new customer and I was satisfied with their service before. Something had obviously change with the management attitude they appear not to care. read more

Not recommended for service. My experience: Told them my pool cleaning robot would start, then stop within 5 seconds - and that it was 5 years old. They said they could replace worn parts and they would be just over $200. When I went in to pick up the robot they said the treads were extra and the total cost was $335. This was still quite a bit less than a new robot, so I paid and took the robot home. When I first put it in the pool it did the same thing - ran for 5 sec and stopped. I called them back and they said they tested the motor as best they could - without a pool - but I was out of luck (they had said the motor might last 6mos or a year). They did offer to take the cost off a new machine I would buy from them. This felt like a typical 'bait and switch' tactic - they replaced worn parts, but not what I needed fixed; then offered a new machine replacement. Why didn't they suggest a new machine before they charged for all the parts? When I was offered the new machine, I hung up. These are not the type of people I want to buy anything from. read more

When I bought my house in Valencia back in 2009, I really had no idea what I was doing with the large pool that came with the home. Thankfully, on the advice of a neighbor, I went for a visit and was blown away by the customer service and knowledge of the staff, particularly Brant and Don. They were so patient with my litany of questions and reviewed my photos and diagrams to help me get a handle on the process of proper pool maintenance.
